Metal Gear Solid Rising coming to Xbox 360 [update]

Hideo Kojima, you liar! The stealth action king stopped by the Microsoft Media Briefing to reveal Metal Gear Solid Rising for Xbox 360. Development's under way, but this new game may not be exclusive.

The video shown features the storms shown in the Kojima Countdown -- oh, and it also features the gaunt face of noted techno-ninja, Raiden. Hopefully we'll know more in the coming days!

"Lighting Bolt Action" caught my attention, wonder what that means

Could be an alternate timeline game, like Ac!d or Ghost Babel.

"Lighting Bolt Action" made me think of inFamous for some reason.

'Lightning Bolt Action' is seemingly the new 'Tactical Espionage Action'.
We have a completely different game style planned!
I'm thinking Devil May Cry with a meaningful plot and a healthy dose of serious.
I'm slightly surprised on the 360 appearance though.. not sure what to think.

The terrible voice over at the end of the announcement teaser would suggest it was Raiden... you know, the one that says 'Raiden is back'

Dickery usually has nothing to do with it. They don't just decide to do an exclusive (unless the dev group is in the companies pocket, ie. Bungie or Naughty Dog). Exclusives are purchased.

Pretty sure MGS4 wasn't purchased.

That doesn't make any sense at all. Nobody bought a 360 so they could play Metal Gear.

MGS4 being exclusive had more to do with the design of the game than anything else. I wouldn't be surprised though if Konami was not given incentives to keep it PS3 only. This new game seems more of a compromise than anything else. Konami has ported MGS games to other systems in the past, both for Nintendo and MS.

Nobody bought a PS3 to play Metal Gear Solid Rising, either.

Konami ported MGS2 to the Xbox and then ported that enhanced port back to the PS2. Twin Snakes was a remake by Silicon Knights, and it wasn't a huge deal for GameCube or PS2 owners. Ports aren't dick moves to fans anyway. As a PS3 owner, I don't mind of 360 owners get to play Metal Gear. I do mind if I have to go out and buy a 360 to play new installments, though.

They bought one to play Metal Gear games, though. And Rising is a Metal Gear game.

Well, I can't understand that. I didn't buy a PSP even though I wanted to play PortOps. But making MGS4 exclusive for PS3 is really no different than making MGSR exclusive for Xbox 360. We are just get the short end of the stick this time instead of Xbox owners. If anything, this is poetic justice.

Well, hell. I take that back because we don't even know for sure if it is in fact exclusive.

They said nothing about it being exclusive, so I'm sure it's coming to the PS3 too.

If not, well, I suppose I'll be buying myself a 360.

If it was an Xbox exclusive, I'm sure they would have at least mentioned it. In fact, they probably would have made sure it was shoved quite far down our throats.

It's not exclusive. It just means the next game is multiplatform.

So, hopefully this ends the MGS4 to the 360 drivel thats been going around for over a year now.

Pretty much everyone expected the next game to be multiplatform anyway. I'm more pissed about more timed exclusive DLC for 360 games. Thats a dick move.

It's actually really good for Sony if ya think about it. They make it a great game, with a great story that ties somewhat into MGS4. Xbox 360 owners who have never played MGS games before say "Oh man this is really cool, and it's similar to MGS4? I wanna try that!" So they buy a PS3 to play MGS4.

I just hope Raiden isn't the main character...or a playable character. That is my hope for this otherwise awesome announcement.

It's not exclusive. The Official MS PR groups MGS Rising as Multiplat.

And think for a sec. If it WERE exclusive, Kojima would be saying the word EXCLUSIVE each 5 seconds.

Yeah, I just saw that on the last page. Good to know. Like I said, I certainly have no problem with 360 owners getting to play Metal Gear Solid as long as I get to play it too. :P

Microsoft wouldve made DAMN sure that everyone knows its exclusive. But they didnt even mention it. So its definitely not exclusive.

I find it hard to believe that Kojima would do that to us AGAIN after the Metal Gear Solid 2 debacle.

The love shown for Raiden here brings a tear to my eye, and it makes me question everyones sanity.

Nah, the 'exclusive games' thing was (seemingly) only for that block of announcements. After that, they announced a bunch of boring non-game stuff, and *then* they revealed MGS: Rising.

Although, if it is 360 exclusive, meh, that works too.
