All I have to say is that they better design it for the PS3 and then port it to the Xbox, I don't want this game to be limited in any way by the Xbox

"God, you're dumb"
Way to start an intelligent, thoughtful response :)
"Mass Effect is my fave game this gen and I would take it over any FF any day"
Agree with you - would prefer ME over FF myself, along with Crackdown and Left4Dead the three XBOX exclusives I desire the most. But dont judge FF7 by today's standards, it was a revolution in 1997.

Mass Effect and FF are the biggest RPGs exclusive on the 360 and PS3 respectively (prior to 2008 at least). ME has a massive budget, and developed by the most famous RPG developer (check their track record) - so selling just 2m is dissapointing, whereas any FF sells 6-8m.
Same with Splinter Cell - it is the biggest stealth competition for MGS. And all versions of SC have sold in the 1.5-2m range on consoles, even when multiplat. MGS4 has sold 5m plus, so did MGS1/2, 3 sold a bit less, do a search.

Finally, I'll have something to play at my parents' house. They've only got a 360 and Burnout. Oh, and Battlefield 2... philistines.

"You know, we didn't say that it was exclusive," clarified Xbox executive and corporate VP John Schappert (he was the guy hosting most of the event) during an interview with me immediately following the press conference.

"We said that the next Metal Gear will be coming [to Xbox 360]," he said.

"I couldn't be more excited about him [Kojima] working on that [Metal Gear Solid Rising] and having that be part of our show," said Schappert. "When I heard about that, I was pretty ecstatic and it was an honor to be able to be on stage with him and announcing his next Metal Gear, which will be on Xbox 360."

At work today, I heard a sound as if millions of fanboys shat bricks at the exact same moment in time. I even felt the earth move a little. I came home to find this...

Explains EVERYTHING.

if we're lucky (and that's a big *IF*) maybe we'll get a competent, coherent storyline to go with the gameplay.

but i doubt it...

No! Alan Wake looks like Alone in the Dark which did not exactly light the gaming world on fire. And ask for being a story based survival game, if anyone has ever noticed most games on the Xbox have some of the worst storytelling ever e.g. Halo 3, Gears of War,Left 4 Dead, Banjo Nuts and Bolts, Dead is Rising etc.

The problem is that Microsoft might get a monopoly on the next gen game market (for anyone one who says wii, I said NEXT GEN) and then will just screw the consumers over like they did with computers a decade ago.

Imagine if the Halo series came out for the PS3, how you would feel. The majority of us can't afford multiple consoles, and want ours to not fail. I do not want to have to pay for Xbox live.

As apposed to Sony and Nintendo who demands that all their games be multi-plat? MS never had a monopoly on games.

It's not that they had, it's if they will. Imagine if Mario, Zelda, Halo, Gears, and Fable all went multiplat, you wouldn't like it because you realize that those franchises are huge to your platform.

Of course it doesn't really matter, since rising is a spin off, and Hideo is mainly working on what he calls "the true sequel", Peace Walker, which will be on the PSP.

In not saying Sony and Nintendo are saints, but Microsoft seems to be the most comfortable in using semi-legal tactics.
