It all *looked* good, but let's face it, the real time demos were all stuff the PSEye could do a few years ago, and when the presenter tried to show the bottom of his avatar's foot that thing spazzed out big time. And the rest was completely staged, especially the Milo stuff - we never saw if she even drew a fish, or if it appeared on screen.

This is definitely tech for the future, but I doubt it will deliver on anything but a slightly more advanced eyetoy experience. Unlucky there MS...

jason, goto:youtube & enter playstation eye into the search field. you'll get results showing multiplayer titles tracking multiple objects and people in 3D in real time. You can also go back in time and look at what was done with the eyetoy for the ps2 by searching eyetoy. Titles that mapped your movements to an on-screen character.

Doesn't seem too much different from EyeToy, except that it seems to be based upon somewhat more responsive technology.

But it was certainly an impressive unveiling. An excellent way to round out the show.

because the Wii was built around motion sensing and Microsoft showed that they can do it better.

To be fair, while this does resemble tech demos of the EyeToy, it also appears to be much more sensitive. It appears to be picking up small movements that the EyeToy (at least in public demos) isn't able to do.

It's cool technology, to be sure. But the games they've shown... they'd better come up with something more impressive than painting and Breakout. Boxing/bowling etc. isn't going to cut it after the Wii, even if you don't have to hold a controller.

I hope this is used for the family friendly games. I can't really imagine using this to hadouken someone or snipe someone from across the map whilst lying on my belly in my small room. Simplify the controllers if it's what intimidates people.
