I just got Netflix, and I gotta tell you...this is an update that I'll welcome with open arms! I get tired of going to my computer to add a movie to my instant watch queue, just to go back to my 360 and watch it there. Awesome!

They need to add 5.1 sound, if the xbox streaming works as advertised and is 5.1 there is no reason for me to keep netflix.

HA! First of all I have netflix, I'm saying if the xbox hd streaming has 5.1 and is hd why would I keep netflix?

Sound matters, get a good 5.1 setup and you will agree. Then again, since YOU only have two speakers I guess everything should just be produced in stereo....

dude surround sound is what really separates a movie theater experience from a home experience. i have a BOSE 5.1 unit and let me you, watching movies with that is almost just like going to the theater.

Dude, did you really just brag about your BOSE setup?

Buying a BOSE system at the prices they charge is like paying $1200 for a Wii and then talking about how awesome it is.

It is good that they are making improvements...much needed improvements. They should have come out with this much sooner though. It was fine to release a basic player that worked, but critical features like this should be added sooner rather than later!

This is a great upgrade. Simple, but it makes a lot of sense.

Good news here, I've been using Netflix a lot lately and this will be such a big help, when bored and not wanting to leave the couch.

I have the pleasure of Netflix access via a PC and the 360 on a 42 inch LCD.

In the end, the PC wins.

A feature I've wanted since the first day Netflix was implemented. I'm happy we're finally getting it.

I can't wait for this. Hopefully the rumors of a streaming-only subscription plan spurs an expansion of streamable content.

the upgrade is great, but where is 5.1 surround sound? new zune video service will do 1080p and 5.1, so why can't netflix?

howsabout just letting me force it to always send an HD feed, even if I have to wait longer for it to cache?

Also this. It doesn't always pick HD for me, even though I have FiOS, and streaming 1080P is absolutely no problem elsewhere.

These upgrades, while welcome, are a bit underwhelming. The things to concentrate on are 5.1 audio at a decent bitrate, and HD/5.1 for Windows Media Center. That's the meat of it, with these things just the icing on the meat pie.

My friends swears he already has the ability to view categories and browse the Netflix library from his 360. His 360 is conveniently still packed away from him having moved recently. Hmmmm...

Screw the deaf. We do not have to cater to the disabled... Where is natural selection and Darwinism when you want it? Call me a cold hearted bastard but we need to evolve, not devolve.

catalyn - It is a very big issue for us in the Deaf community that Netflix does not have CC or subtitles on watch it now. But Joystiq does not have control over it. Send your complaints to Netflix, not here. http://ir.netflix.com/contactus.cfm
