OMG! I am so pumped for this game. I need a new horror franchise that can deliver and with all the time Remedy has taken it better be good.

Really? Alan Wake disappointed me. I thought it was going to be an adventure game running toe to toe with Heavy Rain, and being an Xbox equivalent.
This is just a third person shooter with a flashlight. Not a good track record for those games, most Silent Hills sucked, and the Alone in the Dark game that looked very similar sucked fairly hard as well.

I agree. I love horror games and I think Alan Wake may end up being pretty awesome.
On the other hand, I just wish that so many franchises would stop taking 3+ years to develop (or at least I wish the company would wait until it is near completion before announcing it). This game has been around since 2006? 2007? I remember seeing videos of it back then and, yes, it was damn impressive then. Joystiq still seems to think it's impressive, but personally, the graphical flair is beginning to fade in my eyes.
I'm still fairly interested in this game, but honestly, I don't know how much longer I can keep my interest when it's slated for release next year instead of focusing on closer releases.
(P.S. I'm sure it's been said many, many times before, but....Joystiq has a horrible commenting system.)

I really enjoyed Dead Space. That was a great 3rd person action / horror game. If Alan Wake is similar to that, with very little or no HUD then it could be amazing. I really won't be keeping up with the news on this game because I don't want to learn any spoilers or know too much about the plot. A game like this is better to just discover everything on your own without the input of other sources to bias your mind.

Odd since this game was shown back at E3 2005. You had 4 years to at least notice it.

Looks sweet. Although the action scenes appear to be very Max Payne-esque as far as blowing people away is concerned, with ridiculous rag doll physics . Is this supposed to have cinematic action sequences a la Indigo Prophecy or what?

The gameplay highly impressed me. Looks better than I imagined. The way you can look around with the flashlight looked kewl.
As for the Silent Hill comparisons...definitely a compliment. I hope it is some-what like Silent Hill. Considering Silent Hill is going downhill since American devs took it over. Hated...HATED SH5. It was so buggy too yet I never saw that mentioned by anyone. The combat was horriblely glitchy.

Looks great. Too bad it won't be out for a while, this is the genre that I've been itching to play lately.

Nice title JC. Unless I'm reading Penelope Cruz into it too much.
I really didn't know much about this game until the press conference, but I'll definitely give it a shot after that gameplay demo.

The trailer reminded me a lot of John Carpenter's film 'In the Mouth of Madness'.

The problem is that we've been waiting for this game for oh-I-don't-know-is-it-maybe-FOREVER? So unless it's something special now people will just give it a "meh"
