Rumor: Listing reveals Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and new console Castlevania
Konami's press event won't start until June 3rd, but it looks like some of the company's line-up may already been spoiled. A seemingly careless listing on Gamespress (a resource for video game-related press releases) suggests that two of Konami/Kojima Production's new titles could be Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for PSP and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow for Xbox 360 and PS3.
The mention of a second new MGS follows assumptions we had previously (and could be the name of the already confirmed PSP title), while the addition of "Castlevania" to the already known Lords of Shadow is something that was unexpected. Although, on second thought ... it does look a bit like a Castelvania title (see the concept art after the break). Lord of Shadows has been an object of attention lately and was presumed to be the game teased in Kojima's other teaser website.
Meanwhile, one last revelation suggests Metal Gear Solid: Rising is not a 360 exclusive but will be going to PC and PS3 as well. Considering, the non-use of the word "exclusive" in Microsoft's press conference where Hideo Kojima personally unveiled Rising, it left many to speculate whether the game was exclusive to the platform. Keep in mind, however, that this listing does not confirm anything and might be a database entry mistake.

I remember the days when you found out about games when the developers announced them.
JoeTheBlow @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:24AM
Seriously! This shit has got to stop, E3 may be back but the surprises are not.
Jason Statham (Aka Vegeta) @ Jun 1st 2009 9:04PM
So I guess that pretty much proves that Rising is multiplatform.
atrimus @ Jun 1st 2009 9:10PM
PS3 version it is for me. good that it's multiplatform though. just think, not only does everyone get to enjoy it, but now, we don't have to worry about game sites being bombarded with "MGS Rising on PS3" rumors every other day.
fwacce @ Jun 1st 2009 9:15PM
Well, technically, it is an exclusive title, and not a multiplatform game. I mean, I don't think we'll see this one on the 2600. Too bad though, since I'm tired of the game developers making exclusive deals with the systems that sell the most. C'mon Kojima, where's the MGS: Pixelated Edition?
Guinea Rabbit @ Jun 1st 2009 9:32PM
Personally, I think a Atari 2600 version would just blow the PS3 and 360 versions out of the water.
It would be like heroin for the eyes.
Josh @ Jun 1st 2009 10:05PM
Really, really cool that it's coming to PC, too.
Dr. Stabbingworth @ Jun 1st 2009 9:07PM
For the love of god, please let it be 2D
Brok3n Halo @ Jun 1st 2009 11:37PM
Metal Gear

Brok3n Halo @ Jun 1st 2009 11:38PM
Comment system FAIL!
Metal gear?
(Insert shifty eye emoticons here)
Dr. Stabbingworth @ Jun 1st 2009 11:41PM
No, Castlevania. All I see in that headline is Castlevania.
Castlevania.
Brok3n Halo @ Jun 1st 2009 11:53PM
Yeah, I know (though Metal Gear is also in the headline), I'm just being a smart ass, and agree; 2D HD Castlevania would make my E3
MaxShrek @ Jun 2nd 2009 7:00AM
A new 3D Castlevania will make babies cry.
PSN: John-Paul-Jones @ Jun 1st 2009 9:07PM
I'm not jumping to any conclusions but I found this link in G4TV, stating that "Metal Gear Solid Rising Not Exclusive To 360"
http://g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/696050/Metal-Gear-Solid-Rising-Not-Exclusive-To-360.html
Killiam XXIII @ Jun 1st 2009 9:09PM
Yes, we know.
Volkodlak @ Jun 1st 2009 9:16PM
This isn't aimed at you it's just as good a place to say it as any... anyone who thought it was going to be 360 exclusive is an idiot.
Sly, King of the First Isle of inFamous [PSN SniperChameleon] @ Jun 1st 2009 9:23PM
see JPJ? that ties into the message i sent you on PSN.
R.F.E.F. Red Fury (UltraS Sur) @ Jun 1st 2009 9:07PM
Metal Gear Solid: Rising for PC? ZOMGSR!!
PSN: John-Paul-Jones @ Jun 1st 2009 9:16PM
I would rather get it on the PC for better graphics
xLordOblivionx @ Jun 1st 2009 9:24PM
The PC version may not have superior graphics, and the control might be terrible. Don't jump to any conclusions.
R.F.E.F. Red Fury (UltraS Sur) @ Jun 1st 2009 9:32PM
Why Kojima didn't say anything about a MGS:R version for the PC when he was at the Microsoft conference?
Dammit Kojima!
Josh @ Jun 1st 2009 10:07PM
PC versions almost *always* have (the capability for) better graphics.
And just buy a PC controller.
S. Tiger @ Jun 2nd 2009 9:39AM
Or use a 360 controller. Hell, PC controllers are cheaper than any console controller...
MariusElijah (Only on PlayStation 3) @ Jun 1st 2009 9:09PM
I bet tomorrow Sony is going to announce some sort of exclusive DLC or something to do with the PSP MGS and MGS:R
atrimus @ Jun 1st 2009 9:14PM
i'm just interested in all this talk of a "Megaton announcement" from Sony. not getting my hopes up though. as long as Sony shows some Team ICO (Team Trico?) stuff, and gives us firm release dates for GoW3 and WKC, i'll be a happy camper. maybe some one can say something about Starhawk and the next Twisted Metal.
MariusElijah (Only on PlayStation 3) @ Jun 1st 2009 9:26PM
Sony already has release many info on their coming games Pre-E3, Apparently there conference is going to be 2 hours, so either they are going to have many charts and graphs or a lot of shockers
aMIGA_dUDE @ Jun 1st 2009 9:14PM
It would be XBox360 exclusive if it has Raiden.
Then the PS3 has Snake.
R.F.E.F. Red Fury (UltraS Sur) @ Jun 1st 2009 9:19PM
Or Big Boss for the PS3
Inect @ Jun 1st 2009 9:22PM
Red
Snake = Big Boss
Sly, King of the First Isle of inFamous [PSN SniperChameleon] @ Jun 1st 2009 9:25PM
rising is starring raiden. i'm guessing the MGS: Peace Walker will have Big Boss.
R.F.E.F. Red Fury (UltraS Sur) @ Jun 1st 2009 9:26PM
I fail.
Mazrael @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:27PM
with the teaser on Kojima's site, I actually thought it'd be 2 Metal Gear games with linked storys. One on 360 as Raiden, One on PS3 as Big Boss.. I never even considered the PSP....
Richie_Tozier @ Jun 1st 2009 9:16PM
I'm really disappointed right now. So many of Sony's announcements have been leaked it feels like they're gonna have nothing new to announce tomorrow.
MariusElijah (Only on PlayStation 3) @ Jun 1st 2009 9:17PM
well most of MS stuff were also leaked or expected
Sly, King of the First Isle of inFamous [PSN SniperChameleon] @ Jun 1st 2009 9:26PM
marius makes a good point. you could see most of MS's conference coming from a mile away, excluding some like Milo, which was admittedly completely cool. as long as ps3 gets cross-game party voice chat tomorrow, i'll be happy.
Killiam XXIII @ Jun 1st 2009 9:37PM
I think Sony will win at E3 if they announce the new PS3 slim tomorrow. And not show the fugly PSP Go.
dblakenz @ Jun 1st 2009 9:21PM
Good new that Rising is multiplatform, I couldn't imagine Kojima shunning all the Playstation fans. Im just wondering if Rising is some sort of spin off though? If it were a "true" Metal Gear Game then it wouldn't it be called "Metal Gear Sold 5: ........". Either that or a new direction for the franchise (hence 'Rising'). May be MGS5 will be related to Big Boss. There is still plenty of room for his story to be told. The Big Boss image that we have been seeing on the NEXT website still hasn't been explained, I'm hoping that they didn't just make that HighRez Big Boss just to promote the new PSP game... Oh well all will be revealed soon enough...... (hopefully!)
Kenny Powers Fastball (PSN johnnynumber5) @ Jun 1st 2009 10:12PM
I think it's going to be an action oriented game opposed to a sneaking game. The reason being is the Metal Gear games always have tactical espionage action moniker but this one had something like lighting infused gameplay. I have the feeling it's going to be in the vein of Ninja Gaiden hence the alleged collaboration of Itagaki and Kojima.
Banman @ Jun 1st 2009 9:22PM
If this is true, this sure takes a lot of wind from Microsoft's sails in my book.
Sly, King of the First Isle of inFamous [PSN SniperChameleon] @ Jun 1st 2009 9:22PM
this is the biggest WIN all day. so much win in one post... i think i'm gonna cry...
Sly, King of the First Isle of inFamous [PSN SniperChameleon] @ Jun 1st 2009 9:28PM
wait, kojima is making the new castlevania? that's... new...
Josh @ Jun 1st 2009 10:11PM
No, MercurySteam is making Lords of Darkness, so assuming Castlevania: Lords of Darkness is the same game, it's still being made by MercurySteam.
Sly, King of the First Isle of inFamous [PSN SniperChameleon] @ Jun 1st 2009 10:22PM
the picture lists works made by kojima productions. take another look at it. so since the new castlevania game is listed, that implies kojima is working on it.
libertine @ Jun 1st 2009 9:48PM
I've got to admit I'm more excited for the Peace Walker game than rising or castlevania.
kentuckyfried @ Jun 2nd 2009 1:41AM
I hope the PSP GO has two thumbsticks. an upgraded MPO experience is in order!
headkicker @ Jun 1st 2009 9:53PM
I think it will definitely be Big Boss and Raiden in Rising. It just seems cool to have parrallel timelines. This still leaves the mystery of what MASK is though. Also OMFG new console Castlevania!
Kenny Powers Fastball (PSN johnnynumber5) @ Jun 1st 2009 10:12PM
Mask is Castlevania ... duh.
Kenny Powers Fastball (PSN johnnynumber5) @ Jun 1st 2009 10:13PM
and Big Boss is obviously tied into Peace Walker which is probably tied into Portable Ops which featured Big Boss.
mdang @ Jun 1st 2009 10:02PM
goddamit kojima. there goes another ps3 exclusive IP
Josh @ Jun 1st 2009 10:12PM
Yeah, because that's a personal affront, right?
