Would it be wrong if I pleasured myself to that?
Sam @ Jun 1st 2009 7:35PM
Absolutely charming and beautiful.
That was just amazingly well done.
Interest in the game for me has significantly raised seeing that they've got art direction values like this on board.
THE WICKER MAN (BWF) (GT: Dalek Prime) @ Jun 1st 2009 8:30PM
I have never been into the Beatles. I just got goosebumps watching that. I consider this game a way to educate myself on the subject. Ive heard maybe ten of their songs so this will be an unusual adventure in September.
aj @ Jun 2nd 2009 1:05AM
If you want an education on The Beatles, go buy the white album. Then try to think about all the bands that are doing the same exact thing RIGHT NOW and getting called revolutionary despite the fact that The Beatles were doing it quite a while ago. Plus it's just a good album.
charlie b. @ Jun 2nd 2009 11:20AM
aj, i'll see your White Album recommendation and raise you a Sgt. Pepper's and a Magical Mystery Tour.
charlie b. @ Jun 1st 2009 7:37PM
beautiful, simply beautiful. a great overview of their legacy.
why not the LS2LS7? @ Jun 1st 2009 7:37PM
It's beautiful and it likely cost a fortune.
But to make the game like that would cost a whole lot more.
Maybe some day we'll see graphics like that in games, there's no technical reason we can't.
DrRocktopus @ Jun 1st 2009 7:38PM
That intro is superbly done. It's a shame the in-game graphics are closer to the action figure styled characters of the older games than this.
Oh well, as long as one of the stages is actually The Beatles playing on a giant blue elephant I'll be a happy boy.
Sly, King of the First Isle of inFamous [PSN SniperChameleon] @ Jun 1st 2009 7:54PM
you know what would be cool? shadow of the colossus... but with the 4 members of the beatles climbing up the elephant dude...
Morbo- (PSN: ummfada) @ Jun 1st 2009 7:40PM
good thing the beatles aren't overrated
tfurdal @ Jun 1st 2009 8:00PM
It is a good thing they aren't overrated. Because they aren't
ThatPCgameryouhate @ Jun 1st 2009 11:25PM
Morbo your comment is overated... it needs more downvotes.
Shamgar @ Jun 1st 2009 7:38PM
it would be nice if this game actually came with a guitar controller...
antftw @ Jun 1st 2009 7:40PM
It kinda does.
why not the LS2LS7? @ Jun 1st 2009 8:04PM
I thought it only came with a bass, mic and drums?
MechaGamerX @ Jun 1st 2009 7:39PM
I AM THE EGGMAN...
Sam @ Jun 1st 2009 7:40PM
Are you perchance also the walrus?
MechaGamerX @ Jun 1st 2009 7:43PM
And if I were to say "GOGOGAJOOB"?
Weirdo93 @ Jun 2nd 2009 5:39PM
and sitting in an English garden?
antftw @ Jun 1st 2009 7:40PM
QUICKLY, try and confirm the World Tour drums will be compatible with this game. NOW, before there's still time.
MowDownJoe @ Jun 1st 2009 8:30PM
Why wouldn't they? They work with RB2.
antftw @ Jun 1st 2009 10:07PM
But they don't work with PS3 RB1. They do with 360 RB1. That right there makes me want to ask, to be sure before purchase.
homphgomph @ Jun 1st 2009 7:43PM
Absolutely gorgeous...But they should have thrown in the big piano hit from the end of "A Day In the Life" when the title came up.
Goku1910 @ Jun 1st 2009 7:44PM
Microsoft is doing the same thing as last year...They're bragging about games that aren't even the Xbox 360's Exclusive Games.....Wow, they must really know that their exclusives SUCK!!
haha
ice~ @ Jun 1st 2009 7:46PM
are you stupid?
Goku1910 @ Jun 1st 2009 8:38PM
no, just making a point... Pre-Conference they show this?! Seriously, MS should be more serious. "Haha, We show off The Beatles Rock Band" "Well, HAHA! We have that game too!"
Sly, King of the First Isle of inFamous [PSN SniperChameleon] @ Jun 1st 2009 7:52PM
do you have to ask?
Dustin @ Jun 1st 2009 7:44PM
Absolutely amazing animation. Bravo!
dead_ox @ Jun 1st 2009 7:44PM
The only way Sony could beat Microsoft's press conference intro would be to bring out the OTHER half of The Beatles. Alive. Along with a PS3 reveal of L4D2 starring said reanimated musicians.
Rosssas @ Jun 1st 2009 7:45PM
is it too much to ask but i want the kinks in this :P
libertine @ Jun 1st 2009 7:46PM
Awesome in its purest form!
MystileArmor @ Jun 1st 2009 7:46PM
Personally I like both art styles. The intro-trailer got me so excited for it, I literally was bouncing in my seat.
The actual gameplay art kind of reminds me a tiny bit of the old Beatles cartoon series, if anyone knows what I'm talking about.
double9s @ Jun 1st 2009 7:50PM
Reminds me a lot of the sweet GHII commercial:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erVt0ozPRN0
I remember when you guys reported back then how it was the same animation studio that did the Feel Good, Inc music video, Passion Pictures:
http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/08/guitar-hero-ii-xbox-ad-care-of-feel-good-inc-animations/
If this is the same studio, then I'm in love with everything these guys touch.
aegosopolis @ Jun 1st 2009 8:00PM
Actually, it's directed by Pete Candeland. Passion Pictures are his reps.
He did the Rockband and Rockband II commercials also (and of course the Gorillaz music videos) so it's quite probable that he did this one, not up on his site yet tho.
double9s @ Jun 1st 2009 8:06PM
Woops, good point aegosopolis. I should've mentioned him instead of Passion Pictures.
harma41 @ Jun 1st 2009 8:00PM
OMG, that was incredible! What an elegant intro.
I wish the whole game was like that video.
guttertalk @ Jun 1st 2009 8:08PM
My exact thoughts.
If each song were to have a similar type of video for each one, rather than a focus on just the band, I think that would be a more interesting game to watch.
Parts of the video are take-offs of the movies, Yellow Submarine, and even the Strawberry Fields video (with the tree and chairs). Given that Yellow Submarine had its own style that was influential for a while, I think the art direction for this game should be different.
I like the thinner models.
pepersd @ Jun 1st 2009 8:07PM
really well done. makes me proud to be a beatles fan
Julian @ Jun 1st 2009 8:12PM
That was amazing! I'll probably watch it everytime I load up the game.
Tegolin @ Jun 1st 2009 8:15PM
This game blows...
GH:A and GH:M out of the water so much. I knew Harmonix would do a 1 band game the right way.
LordToastington @ Jun 1st 2009 8:43PM
You scared me there...
Goku1910 @ Jun 1st 2009 8:40PM
just saying, it's so funny that MS can't come up with their own material to use at their own conference....I can't wait for Sony's tomorrow! Lots of goodies!! :D
Jujicabra @ Jun 1st 2009 8:40PM
somewhat prefer the 3D graphics for gameplay, but this intro is incredible!!
maybe if you could switch between the two...nah. that's asking for a bit much.
Mr. Bungo @ Jun 1st 2009 8:45PM
Wow, that's amazing. It would be very, very hard to actually make the game look like that, with such a mix of visual styles, and such carefully designed graphic compositions. So I'm cool with the Rock Band style (so much better than the creepy "real" rockers in the GH games) for the game itself. But that intro is a stunning, lovingly crafted bit of animation and design. Can't wait to watch it as I fire up the game for the first time.

BFBeast666 @ Jun 1st 2009 8:47PM
So... what exactly is everyone so hyped about? You play Beatles songs on plastic instruments. OK, and?
I mean, I love my Rock Band 2, but why not put out these songs as DLC?
WallRunner @ Jun 1st 2009 9:17PM
Well, it'd be quite a lot of DLC, considering they're releasing entire albums as DLC for it, so the total songs could shoot up to well over 200. I don't know about you, but I'd rather have a separate game for 200+ songs rather then having them mixed in with my RB2 list.
why not the LS2LS7? @ Jun 2nd 2009 3:17AM
Actually WallRunner, it is expected the game only contains 45 Beatles tracks.
Brackynews @ Jun 15th 2009 6:46AM
Because we wanted the game to be released in THIS century, and $3 for adding "Hard Days Night" to your collection didn't suit Paul & Ringo.
intensefire05 @ Jun 1st 2009 9:01PM
Hey "BFBeast666" you sooo deserve to go to hell, seriously. Im glad your headed in that direction. Idiot. YEAH retard just like any GH or RB title, you play a bunch of songs on "plastic instruments." Just like the Metalica, or Ac/Dc titles. Only this is The Beatles you retarded ass. Their like "The" Band that inspired many other bands that are famous as all hell. Probably none of todays bands cause todays bands are a bunch of dipshits! How old are you, 12? 14? Lemme guess, your dumbass would, hmm...sell your soul to satan, for a whole game devoted to Slipknot right or some talentless band like them.
Michael T @ Jun 1st 2009 11:39PM
Whoa. Someone needs to switch to decaf.
