We finally saw video of the long-time coming Alan Wake in action yesterday at Microsoft's mega-keynote, and here it is for you to squint at and pore over. Yes, it's slightly shaky, so you'll have to forgive us for that. Mostly because we were still in shock that the game is finally seeing the light of day. See what we did there?
It's definitely moody and spooky, and it looks like your best friends will be spotlights, flare guns, and a trusty flashlight. We're hoping that Microsoft and developer Remedy will jump on the bandwagon now and start packaging this thing with a nightlight peripheral, because you're going to need it to sleep at night after playing this next Spring.

I was surprised at how good it looked and now I'm def looking forward to it's release. Beforehand everything that was shown looked promising but not enough to make me want the game.

Looks great. It is going to be hard picking what games to get this year. Even harder working out what will be the game of E3.
Seems like a very get start to the show and seems like the best E3 without new console news.

Alan Wake is coming out next year, so it can't be this GOTY. Idk what's going to be this year's GOTY, too much to chose from.

Hot damn, that looks like the kind of exclusive that'd make me buy a 360.

Downvote me if you want. But I have to be honest. This game didn't really thrill me as much as I'd hoped it would. The graphics and overall presentation were amazing no doubt. But the gameplay just seems like something that's been done before. And the fact that the game isn't releasing until Spring 2010 is sure to make a lot of people forget about it all over again....

you cant just make an assumption off of a few minutes of gameplay...

That's why I used the word "seems". And besides...why the hell can't I? (Everyone else is) Isn't the point of showcasing these games on such a grand stage to leave a lasting impression in the minds of the audience? I think so. And for me, Alan Wake just didn't cut it. Honestly, the only thing that sticks with me from the game's trailer is "Alan....wake up." And that doesn't make me want to buy this game.

Then, you can't assume it will be any good either.

I completely agree. For something that has been in development for so long, i was expecting something more groundbreaking. Just seems to me like its Too Human happening all over again.
Looks good no doubt, let's just hope the final product ends up being more awesome than the demo.
Downvoted for saying this probably, but... the trailer for Heavy Rain looks more interesting than this.

It does seem like a mix of "Alone in the Dark" and "Silent Hill" but it definitely interests me. I am usually not a big fan of survival horror but this combined with the story telling of Alan Wake seem pretty interesting. I will keep it on the radar. Hopefully they will continue to show bits and pieces up until release and not just vanish again.

They stole that idea from "You have to burn the rope"
I just hope the ending song is as awesome.

This game looks awesome...like it did in 2006. I wish they would stop teasing about this game so far before its release so I don't have to keep getting my hopes up only to find out its yet ANOTHER year out.

The light gameplay reminds me a bit of the Wii's LIT (without the instant deaths). If it's better than AITD and Silent Hill Homecoming, I'm a gettin' it!

Very Well Done. I could see it as almost being a movie in the theaters.
