Completionists looking forward to strapping themselves in Da Vinci's flying machine in
Assassin's Creed II will need to pick up the game's PSP version as well. Speaking during Sony's
E3 2009 press gathering, Ubisoft revealed that the upcoming sequel will feature unlockable weapons, which players will only be able to unsheathe by connecting the game to the series' upcoming PSP debut this holiday. Animus compatibility, however, is still a ways off, so we're told.

How about NO. I think I'll keep my money.
AJ @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:03PM
WTF!
tmacairjordan87 @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:10PM
If the ps3 gets that double face stabbing weapon through the psp version, consider my money yours Ubisoft/Sony.
Clinton @ Jun 3rd 2009 12:32AM
but how many times do you think you will get to use it, how many people stand close enough to get stabbed
tmacairjordan87 @ Jun 3rd 2009 12:43AM
Once or twice would be all I need for something that awesome. It doesn't take that long for me to mast...uhh I mean enjoy something that awesome.
Access Granted @ Jun 3rd 2009 5:29PM
I wonder what happens to the people that have a psp and 360??? do they get unlockables or is this strictly for the psp/3 combo?
Darlaten @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:10PM
How about yes - spend some money :) Seriously, other systems and other games have done that, i.e., Folklore/Coded Soul; Ratchet and Clank. It's an interesting idea that helps link all of the games together and, personally, I like the idea.
Now if I could only import some of the God of War: Chains of Olympus powers into God of War III, I'd be happy.
green11420 @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:16PM
Content will be the factor that affects whether I get AC2 on PS3 or 360. Other than that, the game looks amazing. I REALLY want to stab dudes in the face (x2)...
Viridium @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:52PM
Having a PS3 and a 360, I agree. However if this unlockable crap is ONLY available via PSP, then I'll be getting it on 360 for the achievements. I ain't buying a PSP, it'll cost almost as much as the PS3 did and I barely use it so far.
Shane @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:24PM
Wait..the way this post is worded the Flying Machine will only be available to PS3 gamers who also own a PSP???
I own both a 360 and PS3 WTF at having to also have a PSP to get one of the coolest new features in AC2???
koehler83 @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:29PM
Um no. 6 unlockable WEAPONS
C-Onor @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:51PM
Yea, apparently u do.@ koehler83 read the first three lines
The Baron @ Jun 2nd 2009 5:43PM
'Completionists' - therefore referring to people who want to unlock the extra weapons. The Da Vinci flying machine reference seems just to be a replacement for 'Assassin's Creed 2'.
But I agree, this post is accidentally badly worded at the start.
Geoffrey @ Jun 3rd 2009 3:41PM
How about no. I shouldn't have to own your entire platform ecosystem in order to get to content within a given game on a given platform.
I don't mind adding some sort of bonus functionality (you can use the secondary screen of the handheld as a radar map, or as a PIP-boy, or share media between your console and your portable), but tying content to other platforms this way? BS.
For context (in case someone wants to try and argue that this is just like one of these other things and draw parallels): I am not against DLC content (everyone has equal access, with no additional hardware/software required). I am against content tied to pre-orders/purchases from specific retailers.
Matt_M @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:29PM
Coincidentally, the PSP version is titled Assassin's Creed Bloodlines. There is no Castlevania Bloodlines remake coming out.
The Low King @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:37PM
Hmmmm, I wonder if the weopons will be included in the 360 or if you'll have to pay for them or something. I just hope you can get them someway, because although I have a psp, no ps3 for me.
Shane @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:38PM
Why won't Joystiq save my info?
Anyways, this is an awful idea. I'm not going to debate portable gamming suffice to say I loathe it. I don't travel, work from home and will take playing on an HDTV w/ surround sound any day over a portable.
I don't hate the PSP I just have ZERO need for one. When I heard about Bloodlines, I figured I'd just read a synopsis online to further the story but tying in in-game content to another device is absurd.
First Ubi's horrid PC and now this.
Firewarrior @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:44PM
Another third party feature/DLC exclusive to the PS3.
Ashitaka @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:56PM
I don't want an unrealistic flying machine, I just want Ezio to swim!
james @ Jun 2nd 2009 5:58PM
k. exclusive weapons tied to the ps3 I MIGHT be able to understand. but needing BOTH current gen playstation platforms? absurd.
Viney @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:01PM
I'm guessing this stuff will be hitting the stores in the form of DLC once sales start dwindling for the PSP version..... for a price of course.
Jocaju @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:31PM
I think some people are overreacting, It's not like the games are the same (PSP/PS3-Xbox), one is AC II and other AC Bloodlines, so I will get both games regardless. If the PSP game was also AC II, then yes, screw them, but it's a different game.
Mr.U2 @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:57PM
Is that a picture of an in-game screen scene? Sorry, I wasn't paying attention when any of the press conferences were happening, so I'm not sure if Assassins Creed II was demo'd or what?
Maxx the Slash @ Jun 2nd 2009 7:37PM
So, since Microsoft doesn't have a portable, will us 260 players be able to download those unlockables as DLC, or is Ubisoft screwing us over?
-Jad- @ Jun 2nd 2009 8:44PM
That's nice, something similar happen with Resistance on PSP :)
Mike Crazy @ Jun 2nd 2009 11:24PM
Wow I have to say I was impressed with AC II. I can't wait for this one to make it to the cheap bin.
drdre74 @ Jun 3rd 2009 8:28AM
game looks the same as the last one. the same animations and the backgrounds look the same. I'll pass since I didnt see anything really new with this one and I hated the last one since you do the same mission over and over.
cylet @ Jun 3rd 2009 10:25AM
it's like crystal chronicles! except no multiplayer, right??
luis @ Aug 6th 2009 2:04AM
this site is retarded i watched E3 and they said if you got a psp and ACbloodlines you get 6 add weapons only for PS3 the flying machine is not a weapon its in both versions PS3 and the X-Box 360 the flyin machine is just used to get to spots to kill your target that you can only get to on thee flying machine and if your low enough you can kick gaurds as your flying it was in the gameplay trailer 24 weapons in game 6 more if you got the psp ACbloodlines its just weapon no tropys for them but you get the masters special editon you get added map in game and if you preorder at gamestop one more map in game i got both PS3 and 360 so im getting Assassins Creed 2 for both
