I love FF7 just as much as any other hardcore RPG fan, but I really wonder if it's going to be as good as everyone else remembers. So much of the game was the amazing graphics and such that really aren't too amazing now.
Eric E @ Jun 2nd 2009 3:24PM
IX is better anyway. I still have my hard copy (VII and IX). I beat IX about 6 months ago and i still love it.
Just dont charge an arm and a leg....
Derek @ Jun 2nd 2009 3:26PM
To me personally it is.
I can't wait for this. I like playing my RPGs on handhelds anyway and glad I have both devices, so I can switch where I play my game depending upon my mood.
CTC XBL-supapaypamawio PSN-ctclaw @ Jun 2nd 2009 3:26PM
FF14?? HOLY SHIT. Sorry had to put that somewhere.
CTC XBL-supapaypamawio PSN-ctclaw @ Jun 2nd 2009 3:27PM
Ugh...not another online one...
DaveMcRae the Haiku Artist @ Jun 2nd 2009 3:30PM
What? No it was amazing for the story, characters, atmosphere, music ... The graphics were never really amazing. They were pretty good at the time, but that's about it.
CTC XBL-supapaypamawio PSN-ctclaw @ Jun 2nd 2009 3:33PM
Yes, it was great at the time. Better things have came out since then that have improved on all the things you said before.
DaveMcRae the Haiku Artist @ Jun 2nd 2009 3:36PM
Personally I can not think of any rpg that surpassed FF7's epicness.
CTC XBL-supapaypamawio PSN-ctclaw @ Jun 2nd 2009 3:51PM
Really? Chrono Trigger and Mass Effect instantly come to mind for me.
agff @ Jun 2nd 2009 3:59PM
i also need to say that persona 3 and 4 are way better than FFVII.
If this is on the EU ( yeah right) I may pick it.
acefondu @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:12PM
I'm getting it. Digital copy of one of the best games ever made? The word duh comes to mind.
Ashitaka @ Jun 2nd 2009 5:06PM
Mass Effect is a shooter.
Eddie @ Jun 2nd 2009 5:11PM
Mass Effect is indeed a "shooter" But its also one of my favorite RPGs. In no way can you deny its an RPG haha.
FFVII is a good RPG, I had alot of fun playing it back in the day and I'll prolly buy it for my psp :)
The Heretic Ramza Beoulve @ Jun 2nd 2009 9:49PM
I just replayed all three of the PS1 games. I didn't love 8, but playing through the other two was still very fun. I wish now that I would have waited because I would have rather played on my psp.
Nick @ Jun 2nd 2009 3:22PM
It's about time US started getting some PSone games, the Japan PSN has a HUGE catalog.
Dr. Stabbingworth @ Jun 2nd 2009 5:02PM
The PS1 had a lot of good games. You'd think they would be able to makes lots of cash just ripping ISOs and dumping them on their store.
Aloblop @ Jun 2nd 2009 3:24PM
Where will price tag land?
charlie b. @ Jun 2nd 2009 7:39PM
most PS1 titles on the PSN are about $5-7.
seamonkey420 @ Jun 3rd 2009 1:32PM
$9.99
1.32GB to download :)
Sal Moriarty @ Jun 2nd 2009 3:26PM
I'm happy I still have my PS1 discs and a 60gb PS3 so I don't have to worry about rebuying the game.
Reuben @ Jun 2nd 2009 3:34PM
I have both of those things as well, but since I am a consumer whore, I will be purchasing this regardless.
Adrian @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:23PM
You do know ALL Ps3's can play Psone games, right?
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread - XBL: SoCoolCurt) @ Jun 2nd 2009 5:05PM
yea Adrian beat me to it. Sony really needs to do a better job of letting people know that ALL PS3's can play PSOne games. it's just that the newer ones cant play PS2 games is all. but i guess if they did that, they really wouldn't be able to re-sell as many on the PSN.
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread - XBL: SoCoolCurt) @ Jun 2nd 2009 5:07PM
and that goes overall for Sony really. i've run into people more than a few times that didn't know the PS3 could play DVD's, they thought it just played Blu-Rays. and i mean, not only does it play DVD's but it upscales them as well so it's even better than just playing them.
Krazy9000 @ Jun 2nd 2009 5:47PM
holy crap... I actually never knew I could play PS1 games on my PS3... I'm happy now!
Snake0005 @ Jun 4th 2009 10:48AM
So why can you play PS1 games on the PS3 but not PS2 games?
Kenjis9965 @ Jun 6th 2009 2:56AM
Hardware vs Software emulation
the PSOne is a lot less powerful of a console, so emulation can be accomplished via software versus the PS2 which needs hardware to accomplish the task
I have FFVII, but I will likely buy it from the store for the convenience...This and MGS...
Sadly, I do wish i had a PS2 still...
emperorzeroxx @ Jun 2nd 2009 8:50PM
This is awesome, but I pray they do not charge separately for each disk like in japan... that would suck...unless it magically totals 10-15 bucks
Zamzoph @ Jun 2nd 2009 3:29PM
So does this put an end to the FF7 remake idea?
DaveMcRae the Haiku Artist @ Jun 2nd 2009 3:31PM
At least for this generation I'm afraid. And I am not even sure whether I really want a remake anymore, not if they put all that bullshit new stuff from the compilation in it.
Shagittarius @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:15PM
Beacuse they would never do a new Street fighter after releasing SSF2T for the store...well maybe they might do an HD remix of that but certainly not a full...oh what?
Martin @ Jun 2nd 2009 5:52PM
"Beacuse they would never do a new Street fighter after releasing SSF2T for the store...well maybe they might do an HD remix of that but certainly not a full...oh what?"
Anyone else feel this form of sarcasm is becoming increasingly more boring? Or maybe its that it's a lot to type out for being so boring. Very little ROI.
eNrique @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:06PM
I'm sure in Tokyo GS they will show it to the world.
Along with Final Fantasy Versus XIII footage.
Damn... e3 isn't even over and I can't wait for TGS.
Rockman @ Jun 2nd 2009 3:40PM
How much will this cost since it was on multiple disks? Also, will the disks be separate downloads or will they be all in one?
megapenguinx @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:44PM
one download, and most likely $10 since it's a big name title
Saneless @ Jun 2nd 2009 3:39PM
I'm confused on how this PSN stuff works.
Does this mean I can play it on my PSP or are there PSP-specific PS1 games that I would have to use instead?
Reuben @ Jun 2nd 2009 3:50PM
You can indeed play it on your PSP. All PSone games offered on the PSN can be played on your PSP.
Razorlution @ Jun 2nd 2009 3:40PM
It will most likely be $9.99
eli314 @ Jun 2nd 2009 3:47PM
I'm in the same boat....but I'm totally tempted to buy it to have it on my hard drive, though
sumtone @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:06PM
i prefer Final Fantasy VI
Haon @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:22PM
Screw 7. III/VI forever. Ohh scary...NEXT!
Guinea Rabbit @ Jun 2nd 2009 5:01PM
Sabin from FF VI could beat Cloud's punk ass any day of the week.
Not sure how he would fare against Barret though :)
dkffiv @ Jun 2nd 2009 5:18PM
VII marked the point where I begin hating the Final Fantasy franchise.
GewurztraminerX @ Jun 2nd 2009 5:48PM
FF6 was the first and FF7 the second FF games I ever played. I enjoy them both, though I suppose FF6 was a bit more 'epic'. Plus those 2-D sprites hold up a lot better after all these years than the block-like FF7 sprites... hm... o_O ...Lego FF7?
aj @ Jun 3rd 2009 12:54AM
I think it's cute how people complain about the graphics on a 10 year old game, then cite even older - and 2D - games as examples of good graphics on a website that is devoted primarily to consoles which are now in HD and have ridiculous 3D graphics.
It's just cute, is all.
chris @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:14PM
Does this get reformatted to look ok on HD screens? Or do they just basically make the original game available for download with no changes?
Patrick @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:18PM
I wouldn't bank on it coming to the EU store, not today at least =[
Archon (PSN: Archonik, XBL: DarkARHN) @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:18PM
PS1 games are compatible with any PS3 system, it doesn't matter if it's "60GB" or not...
CtrlBurn @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:20PM
I always lamented the fact that FF7 was so hard to find in the PS2 days. This is good news for me. I never actually owned FF7 back in the day, but my PS3 has plenty of hard drive space ready for this bad boy. Depends on the price of course...
CtrlBurn @ Jun 3rd 2009 2:51PM
$10? I know what I'm doing when I get home.
