All I could wish for in Forza 3 is for the graphics to be richer in colour and depth, better antialiasing, more interesting tracks and more of them, more cars, even better modification options (such as chrome wheels, more body kits), and more and easier painting options (such as matt paint, and uploading pictures to paste on etc).

From the looks of the trailer, it seems to promise some of that, plus the cars seem to be able to roll! (Not sure how they've persuaded the manufacturers to allow that if indeed it can be done).

But as you say, the trailer only consists of some polished CG cinematography, and not game footage.

I agree with everything you've said, especially about the anti-aliasing, it was just way too blurry and not sharp enough. Take GT for instance, loved the sharp visuals, but I stopped playing it after I fell in love with Forza's physics engine, and because of GT's poor AI.

Forza 3 could have it all, and I sure as heck hope they nail this third installment...

I have always loved the GT games, but they no longer have the AI, the Physics, or the damage modelling to compete with Forza. They'll always look at least as good, but it's just not enough anymore. Plus the fact that the development calendar is a farce. I'm not sure GT5 will ever be out anyway! I don't want to start another Forza vs GT war though, so I'll stop there! ;)

As much as I LOVED Forza, to me, the graphics lacked the punch and the replays were akin to a Sunday drive at the local shopping mall car park.

Please, for the love of God Turn 10, make the replays fun and exciting. Somewhat like what Codemaster's did with Grid. As soon as I played Grid, I could NOT go back to Forza. No matter how good its physics engine was!

I highly doubt that trailer is representative of the in game gameplay footage, and that the end product is no way at all near that quality. There's just no way, as much as I'd love to be proven wrong, I just can't see it happening. Not with Turn 10's graphical programming prowess.

Yeah, I'm just really let down by how dull everything else was on Forza. Sure the physics were awesome, but it's just not the total package.

Also, I hope they can fix the decal tool, which pastes one side of the car different to the opposing side. This bug was also present on the original Xbox version.

There are also a few gameplay videos on the official site. The game does look significantly better than 2 did.

If you go over to the official Forza site, this is one of three trailers they put up.

As joystick (should) know, the online tuning/painting community in Forza 2 is almost as large as the racing one, and definitely worthy of a third of the trailer space!

come on man, a little bit of curiosity would've brought you to screenshots, gameplay footage and more:
http://forzamotorsport.net/en-us/default.htm

The presentation @ E3 even gave us live gameplay (with an Audio R8 V10 flipping over, Z06 crashing & more).

This one is in-game replay material, not edited: http://forzamotorsport.net/en-us/media/videos/default.htm#/video/120/

And the non-gameplay trailers show what Forza's community is all about. It's not only about racing, but also the creative community behind it and the driftclubs etc.

So anyone should conclude the tone of this article is totally unfair.

Not Gonna lie the game looks nice....and the Customization features are hot shit....but for them to say that its going to be the DEFINITIVE Racing game this generation is like they haven't even LOOKED at GT5 which undoubtedly will have MORE cars than them AND looks EVEN better...I just hope we see more about it today...

Well, they're hardly going to come out and say they have the second best racing game ever, but even so, from what I can tell this does appear to be the definitive one. Gran Turismo may look slightly better and have slightly more cars, but it lacks the gameplay options, customisation, physics and community (and a release date).

And as someone who's a total noob at driving sims, I like the assists it provides, and the new re-wind feature should greatly help too.

I agree with the customization and gameplay options. But if the community for GT5P is anything to go by for GT5 then it will be MASSIVE....GTTV is a BIG Selling point for the GT Community, and you can do videos on there as well if I'm not mistaken....

but you are right....if Sony doesnt give it a firm date or at LEAST a Firm MONTH then most people are going to just forget about it...

If Forza 3 has a better replay system than the previous two installments - one that both excites and rewards your driving skills - to display for all to see, with a range of variety in terms of visual interpretations, then that would make the replays so much more enticing to watch in a gaming community.

GT's got a great replay system with heaps of options to change the mood of the replay drive, and the angles changes the second lap around, to give it a more diverse range to viewing the race, in which you kicked ass.

Forza had the same angles and the same boring replay system that gets boring after a while.... round and round and round and round....

Hey, David there's more then one trailer or the game. How about you update this post with the one your looking for. It's easy to find on the Forza's website under Media-Videos.

I agree with the community spirrit, i jus hope this game has something i felt it lacked in forza 2.......................Soul

Maybe i didnt get into the community thing as much as i should've but a game like GRiD actually sucked me in and made me feel like i was racing.

Well it seems to have a replay editing option now which should punch up the replays. I'm afraid they have turned it into a much more casual racer. major Nelson said "look for a much more accessible Forza3 in the fall" on the video on LIVE. I think by accessible he means PGR5 which would suck. I'm not holding out hope that this will be the same physics rich racer we've come to know. I think they've dumbed it down to increase sales like the MOTO GP series.

I don't think they'd do that to their existing fans, who are extremely dedicated to the game. I imagine any "casual" aspects will be completely optional, like they are in 2. You can turn off all assists to make more money, I imagine it'll be the same here.

All I can hope for is that Mega64 watches this video and makes a parody of it.
It's hilarious from start to end. I simply love "game-marketing". Somehow the guys behind every game trailer/teaser/interview, always act like the people watching it are complete dumbfound idiots. Sure, the majority is like that.. and that's why we have so many people believing in every single thing they see on their first trailer (and that's why the game community nowadays is comprised of children or childish 20 year olds).

But then again, if they know that people with an inch of forehead are also watching this crap, why do they even bother?

Kinda like the "imagine" bullshit. That shit sells everywhere, except in my country, I'm positive. I've never seen that shit for sale anywhere. Pokemon? Sure, I get the addiction in that. We've all gone through the "get 100%/develop your characters/slaves" period. But games where you color your bracelets and tend to virtual pets?

Same bullshit with Forza. Auto-brake feature? Auto-brake? What's next? Auto-steering? Auto-throttle? Auto-play? Oh wait, we have that already, it's called Demonstration videos. Or better yet, tune on the fucking TV and watch a race. BETTER GRAPHICZ0rX.

The funny shit is that someone actually claimed that "auto-brake was fun since all you had to do was hit the gas". This kind of idiocy astounds me. Never ceases to amaze me. Doesn't surprise me, and yet, it's always amazing. Kinda like living next to the Niagara Waterfalls. You know they're there, right next to ya, but it's always amazing everytime you look at them. Kristin Kreuk on my desktop is the same way.

If you paid any attention to anything related to this game, you would realize that they developed this SIM RACING game that ANYONE can play (including your 7 year old cousin). Just because the game has an auto-brake feature doesn't mean you can't turn it off. They added a lot to make the game more appealing to the general population, but what they didn't do is ignore the community that's been by their side for 2 years now.
You'll be able to make this game as easy or as hard as you want it to be, and you can be sure there will be the ability to lock assists out in online lobbies, just like there is now.

Side note, I am SO stoked for Forza3, I still play Forza2 almost daily and I bought it on launch day. I hope they make us start fresh though, no carry-over of credits or cars, maybe just a small credit bonus for the people who have played FM2.

Allow me to explain something to you: I've been playing Racing Simulation games (like the Gran Prix series) since I was 6, and the only help feature I used, was the Track Trajectory and the Advised Gear (like 2nd gear, in case you don't know what manual transmission is). Never have I used an automated feature. Why? Because I'm human.

I liked playing Sega Rally, Daytona USA, and even today's Burnout. They're arcade games, and they know it. It's their objective: fun.

Adding Auto-Brake to a supposed Racing Simulation, doesn't make it good. That's not versatility, that's idiocy. It's the difference between adding a Very Easy mode, and adding a God mode. There's a reason why God mode is available in FPS games on the console only. It's a cheat. Not a "mode from children to enjoy the games".

And the guy who said that was a wonderful mode isn't 7 years old, I'm certain.

What I don't understand is why you care so much about a feature that you can disable, i's not like you're being forced to use auto-brake. Wow, you've been a game nerd since you were 6, BFD.

Oh no, they're making the game more diverse and accessible to everyone with features I can turn off! That's TOTALLY gonna ruin the whole game for EVERYONE.. I better not buy it now.
See how ridiculous that sounds?

Hi David,

This is actually the 3rd trailer they've released for the game so far (in case you missed them the first one was the sizzle prerendered trailer, the second was an all game engine trailer, and now this one)... let me ask, why is it not okay for them to release a trailer that showcases the design aspect of the game as well? Do you not realize there are people for whom that is the major fun of Forza? I find customization as fun as the racing in the franchise to be honest... what is wrong with them advertising this feature in light of them already giving us a gameplay trailer and all? I'm curious to read your response, thanks!
