Golden Sun DS trailer summons some excitement
Looks good, no? It's gone more or less full 3D, but there's still the same exploring, summons, and (we're guessing) battle that appeared in the last few games. Camelot told us a while back that they'd love to play a Golden Sun DS game, and now that it's announced and we've seen this trailer, we can't help but agree.

Make this good, Camelot. And then make a strategy RPG.
Latin_Trident @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:07PM
My reaction described in this song:

Ditto. I actually like Metroid, but I would take nearly every Nintendo franchise over it any day.
raFa @ Jun 3rd 2009 8:48PM
lol
tmacairjordan87 @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:07PM
The only thing that impressed or surprised me from the nintendo conference. It actually made me think about buying another DS for about 2 seconds before I snapped back to reality.
Seriously though, I have to think of a way to get my hands on a DS when this comes out without buying one...
Tim @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:10PM
Do what i did - Have some dude steal one from wal mart and buy it off him at half price
Triscuit @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:11PM
Really? Metroid didn't do it for you? Wow.
mr nimblewick @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:12PM
I think you can rent them from Blockbuster.
tmacairjordan87 @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:12PM
No, metroid was always something my brother loved but I never liked, even when I was a kid. In fact I consider Metroid to be the least appealing major nintendo franchise.
Blah @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:08PM
This game better be close to impossible to beat without a guide like the previous ones
DaveMcRae the Haiku Artist @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:13PM
Huh the first one was pretty easy. The second was hard though, I give you that.
Jonny boy @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:33PM
I beat it without a guide, and bought one afterwards just because I loved it so much. Nintendo has finally made me happy. Sure i would love to see a new Kid Icarus, F-Zero, or Starfox or 1080, but i have no complaints now. I finally have a new Golden Sun
Blah @ Jun 2nd 2009 8:00PM
I don't remember much of 1 (played it in like 6th grade lol) but I remember I could never defeat the boss because I was underleveled and the talking took sooooo long I didn't really want to keep on redoing it. 2 I do remember and it was pretty tough.
required @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:08PM
Even though I hate my DS I will have to buy this game.
J-Link @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:10PM
You could always buy a used DS phat or Lite, or borrow someone elses if you really dont want 2 buy one. I would recommend a DS put only if the games on it suit you, DS got some good RPGs.

I agree.
Best news of E3, by far.
This music kicks my ass.

Snowblind @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:14PM
Wonder if it's actually going to be a sequel, or if they'll ignore the other games. Not that many people played them and they're pretty rare these days..
I never got round to finishing the second game, but I'm pretty sure it ended on another cliff hanger.
DaveMcRae the Haiku Artist @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:20PM
It didn't really actually. Well the fate of one of the villains was left open bit he was pretty much clearly defeated. My guess would be a prequel.
Roto13 @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:36PM
Didn't the first two both sell really well?
Levi (God Hand Defense Force) @ Jun 2nd 2009 7:23PM
They're not that hard to find. I see them all the time when I shop for used GBA games.
Tim @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:14PM
1. So, from this point on, GSDS is now Golden Sun DS, and not Gold/Silver DS. :3
2. If it allows me to do an in-game item transfer from the GBA installments, I'm sold.
Triscuit @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:21PM
Since it's supposedly a game about the ancestors of the original protagonists, then the GBA games don't really have much of an impact as far as transfers go (at least, not like the ability to transfer from GS to TLA). But, the ability to transfer what your party had equipped at the end of TLA into this game would make sense. Kind of like family heirlooms.
Roto13 @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:37PM
"Since it's supposedly a game about the ancestors of the original protagonists,"
Where did you hear that?
Roto13 @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:38PM
*looks down*
Oh, the press page. :P
S. Tiger @ Jun 2nd 2009 8:18PM
GSDS was never "Gold/Silver DS"? From what I gather, everyone says HGSS, meaning Heart Gold/Soul Silver. 8o
But, FUCK YEAH GOLDEN SUN DS!!
Maybe Motoi Sakuraba will actually release a soundtrack with this one...
James @ Jun 3rd 2009 2:45AM
Just what I was thinking. If not for my characters then for the fact that I collected every damn Djin.
I doubt it will... it's been so long. I guess Pokemon did it...
Triscuit @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:18PM
This has me so excited! Just before I got my DS, I sold off my SP; and my collection of about 40 or so games (which I was keeping for the DS) was stolen by the neighbor kid before he moved, most of which I cannot find used/they are WAY too expensive. Two of those games were GS and GS: tLA. So I recently went online and re-acquired the games in ROM form (if it's legal to back them up, which I'm told it is, then I don't think it's illegal for me to download the ROMs if I owned the games), and started playing the GS games again. This was two days ago. Imagine my complete shock and passion when I saw this announcement this morning! Oh sweet merciful baby Jesus, you are good.
Bunny_Raven @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:19PM
So here's my question ( though it was already asked):
Is this a sequel? Please let it be so!!
I wanna know what becomes of the world with alchemy unleashed!!
DaveMcRae the Haiku Artist @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:23PM
spoiler alert : P
Butt hat's why I guessed it would be a prequel. On the other hand, the world after the ending of lost age would make for a pretty interesting setting, you're right.
arrness @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:22PM
*dusts off ds*
RockMan_Forte @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:36PM
This made my day. Prolly even my year.
HairyBalls @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:29PM
Nintendo E3 Press Page says this,"Golden Sun™ DS: After going dark six years ago, 2010 will see a new dawn. Golden Sun DS updates the popular portable Golden Sun role-playing series with an impressive graphical style. This installment follows the story of the previous heroes’ descendants and immerses players into the magic of its adventure by pushing the boundaries of intuitive touch-screen controls. Golden Sun DS is playable on the Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi systems."
Also the Game is Playable on the Show Floor.

Now I can collect Djinn, all over again.
Baker1000 @ Jun 2nd 2009 6:45PM
I'm still in shock over this. The poster for the game features characters which look similar to Issac, Garet and Mia from GS1. *is excited*
VaultICEE @ Jun 2nd 2009 7:08PM
I never played the first one, but heard only good things. I'm excited!
Baker1000 @ Jun 3rd 2009 8:12AM
I suggest you find a way to play both before this comes out then. You will be pleasantly surprised.
dave @ Jun 2nd 2009 7:22PM
First Tales of Monkey Island and now GSDS, this is the best E3 ever.
hey_big_dck psn:fuliano626 @ Jun 2nd 2009 7:30PM
ah man this means i have to buy a ds now.... was a release date set anyone know when this game comes out?
benhc911 @ Jun 2nd 2009 7:34PM
I loved and love the series still... but will I get crucified for saying I would have preffered to have it in 2d? the summons were so epic, and could have been even moreso with 2-d art, but now they seem a bit limited...
Don't get me wrong I would kill a baby for the game, but... *sigh*... the series is so friggen good I will have to forgive it
jarhead906 @ Jun 2nd 2009 7:48PM
I don't really like that they ditched the unique 2D art style that was used in the other two GBA games.
Also, Golden Sun: The Lost Age had the most lame ending in my opinion. Very anti-climatic.
Kyzumi @ Jun 2nd 2009 8:48PM
SONY kicked so much ass at E3 but this is YESSSSSSSSSSSS. I'm pre-ordering it for sure
Jinsenken @ Jun 2nd 2009 8:15PM
I think I just shat myself.
I'm gonna buy a new DS just to play this game on.
I LOVE YOU CAMELOT! YOU FINALLY CAME THROUGH!!!!
Josh @ Jun 2nd 2009 8:25PM
It's been so long. I can barely even remember the gameplay. Hopefully I'll contain myself enough that I don't go back and play the other two.
Chris_Mac @ Jun 2nd 2009 8:40PM
Not really liking the bland 3D, a beefed-up 2D art design would be much better. The GBA summons looked nicer, though I last saw them 5 years ago so might be talking garbage
Desert Eagle @ Jun 2nd 2009 8:41PM
I just came from doing my daily exercises and what do I see? A new Golden Sun confirmed for the DS! Oh, and many more other awesome things.
Nintendo, you just made me restore most of my faith in you. I was about to lose it, but you dropped this and Metroid and have made my day with both of those games.
You sure know how to give surprises. I think I shouldn't underestimate you no more. I'll make sure to buy this game on the first day, I don't care if I'll be 20 by that time! Gaming has been my life, and it'll be until the day I die.
