Dear All

Im now in the Microsoft DF and camp.
Sorry but yesterday they made such sweet promises to me, and Nintendo came round today with the same old song.

It was fun.

Spartan, aka Kye, aka the ring bearer and key holder.

p.s. Fernando, here are the keys, lock up when your done.

Surrendering originality for boredom, and color for darkness.

Not unexpected, though.

Go back and watch the conference...anyone ever seen a quieter audience at E3? It's like they pumped sleeping gas into the hall. Which is what they essentially did with that extremely boring presentation.

Ok, I'm not a fan of the Prime series, but Super Metroid is one of my favorite games of all time... When I saw Team Ninja is doing the next Metroid game I got my hopes up... But it's still got first person in it... I think the Prime series failed to feel like proper Metroid games to me mainly because the movement was crippled in the first person perspective. I think the game could be so much more in third person, taking liberties to get crazier acrobatic upgrades and such.

I'm not discounting the idea that it might be good, but I have a feelin it will be more like a continuation of the Prime series instead of the 3D Super Metroid style game I've been waiting for since N64.

Another E3, another Nintendo conference of nothing I care about.

Nothing to see here, move along now.

Year 3 of the Wii and still no new IPs.

There's only so much of their Nintendo characters I can take over the years. Please Nintendo, last year Reggie said they are working on all these "new characters and IPs". Show them already or stop lying.

Also "Wii _____" doesn't count as a new IP.

Why doesn't it count?

Oh, it doesn't count to make your comment something more than baseless, bitter ranting

Actually there was a new Wii IP announced at E3, they just haven't covered it at Joystiq yet:

Monado: Beginning of the World

http://www.destructoid.com/e3-09-monado-beginning-of-the-world-rocks-the-wii-out-134543.phtml

It's a new IP from the team that made Disaster: Day of Crisis, Monolith Soft. They are first party Nintendo developers, so you would think it would have been part of the Keynotes.

I think I finally realized what my biggest disappointment was with this conference compared to Microsoft, and Sony in the past: not enough pizazz. There are no fireworks...no blazing lights...smoke filled announcements, etc. Its all very polite and polished and professional. Nintendo made some awesome game announcements...but they did it in a VERY bland and boring way. THAT is what kept their conference down the most, I think.

"Crushes?" Really? I didn't see anything particularly earth-shattering in Microsoft's conference. Maybe you saw something I didn't? Sure, I'm excited about MGS:R and Project Natal has plenty of potential (even if Molyneux's "Milo" demo creeped me out more than a little) but it's hard for me to feel disappointed at Nintendo's showing this year.

I just hope Sony has more to show than the PSP Go, PS3 Slim, and MGS PSP that seemingly half of the playerbase saw in that leaked Qore video. That would be embarassing. Plus I'm holding out hope on an actual release date for FFXIII Versus. :P

No, Nintendo introduced a lot of good stuff...great information! But they do it in such a low-key, boring way that you think its less exciting than it is. :(

Happy -
New Super Mario Bros Wii
Mertroid Other M
Super Mario Galaxy 2

Also the potential of Motion Plus

Also I'm happy that Nitnendo have some light on it's 3rd party support The Conduit, Red Steel 2, Resident Evil and Dead Space.

Not Happy -
The focus again on Wii Fit, Wii Sports and the heart monitor.

No Pikmin, Starfox, Kid Icarus or even a Pikachu.

I didn't so much mind some focus on Wii Sports Resort. I think it looks pretty good, and a lot more flushed out than the previous tech demo was. I think they maybe spent a bit too long on it, but I didn't mind that. Now, Wii Fit, I do think they spent way too much time on. Its an already existing piece of tech, they didn't need that much time. All in all, though, I think Nintendo gave us the best over all new info out of the 3 conferences so far. Still listening to Sony, though. Microsoft was good...Natal was an amazing announcement...but their games were mostly already expected games, not exactly new.

So the conference was atleast better than last years, and they made some big, new game announcements. I think it's the pizazz that the show was missing. Not many cool videos, flashing lights, ect., so it seems much more boring than the other conferences

This is exactly the point I've been trying to make. Nintendo had a lot of great information...great game announcements over both Wii and DS that people WANT to play...but they announce everything in such a slow, staid way that its boring, even when the CONTENT of the info is exciting...its hard to get excited about it.

Does anyone know if Joystiq's covering Miyamoto's roundtable later today? Maybe there's still time for a last minute ace up the sleeve.

While I am excited for Mario Galaxy and Golden Sun, I'm a little skeptical of Team Ninja doing a new Metroid. This conference was, again, mostly unrewarding. (Wii Vitality Sensor? wtf?!)

And for the record, I would rather see a NEW Mario instead of sequels to Galaxy and New SMB. That's just me though.

I just watched the full video of Metroid: Other M, and the mix of third and first person viewpoints has me intrigued. I wonder if that's something we'll be able to toggle between or if certain segments will just be preset to one or the other.

New SMB Wii is looking great, too. I'm looking forward to it even more so than Galaxy 2, to be honest.

All in All, I love this E3, however all I got to say is that Nintendo, is back not just the casual gamers get love but they are going to stay on top a very long time. Sure Microsoft announced Natal, Not going lie i'm interested in that milo game that seems pretty cool, but the Wii and Nintendo has nothing to worry about. I been hearing Natal is a wii killer; now isn't this the same Microsoft and Sony who I forgot about their motion control which I also think is cool said that motion controls were a gimmick. The Wii is a Fad, it sells to casual and kids, how wrong you Xbox and Sony fanboys are now. Nintendo means business I mean Wii owners will get New Super Mario Bros. Wii by the end of the year, MotionPlus which give the wii-mote 1:1 ratio, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid:Other M, and The Legend of Zelda all in the year of 2010? Damn Nintendo I'm gonna be broke but hey I forgot they got Golden Sun yessssssssssssssssssssssss for the DS I love pt 1 never got to play pt2 but Golden Sun and I can't forget the third party love the Wii is getting like The Conduit, Red Steel 2, No More Heroes 2, Sin & Punishment 2, TMNT Smash Up, Tatsunoko vs Capcom us version (Online YEsssssssss), Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, Dead Space Extraction, and so on now that the Nintendo I love. I forgot about Wii Sports Resort I still play Wii Sports and no I'm not a casual gamer I just love Wii Sports and I like Wii Fit can't wait to play Wii Fit Plus. Nintendo has more exclusives than the Xbox 360 I only count like 8 games on the 360 that are exclusives and four of them are on the PC. Sony had a great E3 I'm gonna purchase a Ps3 God of War 3 Blew my mind and Uncharted 2 was sweet I play the first a lot over my best friend's house. As for Nintendo lot better than last years show, now I see why Wii is the #1 sells console Nintendo didn't abandon the hardcore gamer. hate to say it but 2009-2010 will be even more amazing year for the Wii and DS and the monster that is Nintendo will continue it's dominance I think Metroid stole the show IMHO. WOW Nintendo is the reason I game and well I got more game to add to my huge Wii and DS libraries. Nintendo Keep It Coming!!!!!!!!!
