Hooray! I just bought L4D last week and have been obsessed since. Though playing with random online people can be scary AND annoying, esp. since almost everyone instantly TKs and then leaves the game.

What I REALLY want, though, is more DLC for the original L4D! It can't be that hard or that expensive to through a few more campaigns at us... :(

That would be fun though I doubt my ability. :) I guess if we're well organized it'd be possible.

Oh, and am I the only one that plays with a headset? No one else I get on quick matches with uses their headsets and they are ALWAYS doing some crazy thing by themselves in the corner of the map that I cannot understand. I wish people would actually communicate what the hell they're doing.

I'm not always on my xbox anymore (infamous is taking a lot of my time) but I'll fire up left 4 dead again if there is a group of players that actually want to play and not just run around shooting eachother. It's just so hard to find a good group on xbox live. To many damn kids. I got lucky once and me and these 3 guys held out for 11 min on the elevator level for survival mode and I have to say that was the most fun I have had gaming in years.

P.s. I guess I can dig up my headset if needed

If you need help with Untouchables, I can help you out. Earned the achievement with a group of friends a while back. It takes a bit of coordination to get, but over all very every setup.

I've got all the vs achievements but "incap someone who leaves the safehouse"

Since I play with randoms, I don't have a campaign crew. I'd like to tag along too.

Though this seems like a fun game, reading positive reviews about it still makes me a bit angry about Resistance 2 and how underrated it was by reviewers - it had a coop mode quite comparable to and as much fun as L4D but much deeper with its class system, a much stronger single player and multiplayer mode, better graphics, more weapon variety.

Also, isnt Dead Rising 2 coming out the same time and exclusive on XBOX? Seems like the 360 has the zombie-killing market all sewn up!

There was an interview not to long ago with someone from valve (sorry don't have source) talking about how one of the new campaigns would take place in a mall.

I'm torn about getting this down the road on a Steam deal or if I should hold out until I inevitably break down and buy a 360 in the next year.

I would say get it for the computer. People will likely be playing it online longer, and you get the benefit of a keyboard for communication if you don't like mics or can't use them or whatever.

People still play CS 1.6 after all.

they mean like in No Mercy, at the elevator part. Instead of hiding in a closet with the Shiva stack, you'll have to hit a button, and then get to another area to shut off and continue. Almost like triggering enemy waves on CoD4 and having to get to a certain point before they stop spawning (at least for that certain even).

This looks cool and all, but where's HL2 Ep.3. Valve needs to finish that game before they start a new one.

I'm typically pretty decent at shooters, but I've had trouble finding fun people to play with. I just bought L4D a couple of weeks ago, so I'm trying to learn the multiplayer ropes and the people I've been matched up with are just total pricks and don't have any patience to share their knowledge about how things work... or, even communicate at all.

It's been kind of frustrating (as I'm sure it was for them). I want to be excited for this sequel, but I think it may only be worth it to buy it right away... if I wait too long, like I did w/ the first, then it might be too late... So, either getting this right away, or not at all for me.

I just got L4D not too long ago and I'd love to play with you. It's hard to find decent people to play with. I also use a headset (unlike everyone else on Quickmatch -_-) so I'll actually talk to you. If you're patient with me, I'll be patient with you. :)

Yeah, it can be frustrating for everyone involved. Luckily enough I have a group of friends who all got the game at the same time and we were able to cut our teeth on it together. I'd be happy to play with you and the other posters on this thread, who don't seem like trolls. I'm looking to expand my friends list with some non-d*ckheads.

Xbox/Steam gamertag: omdata

Got L4D on both platforms. I'd consider myself a better teammate than player, if that makes any sense, and I've successfully beaten all the campaigns on hard in 3 and 4 player situations. L4D should have a sticker on the box that says "Multiplayer only".

I'm totally fucking stoked for this.

Valve, I would love it if you guys did a Portal/Left 4 Dead crossover. Imagine the possibilities if 3 people in the survival party use weapons while the fourth creates portals!!! Video Game orgasm.

I'm envisioning dropping a portal in front of a zombie rush with the exit high up on a nearby wall to create your own weather effect: zombie rain.

While I do admit it is a bit fast for a sequel, as a guy that played every single level and got every single achievement. I can't wait for more L4D stuff.

What make the engine dated? It's very scalable for PC users, it runs fast, can generate 300 zombies without slowdown, complete with real time lighting and transparency effects.

I think it's a rather nice engine, but that's just me.

L4D with friends is honestly, some of the most fun I've ever had playing a video game in my entire life. No joke.

When the horde comes running and your backs against the wall, everyone's calling out to eachother, then a tank charges in and everyone splits... it gets so intense and insanely fun. If you have 3 other friends online, I could not recommend any other game more.

I still L4D vs. all the time, it doesn't get old to me. I was bummed about the announcement of a sequel until I read this. Hazmat Zombies? Impound lot of alarmed cars? Sounds fun - and frustrating - as hell.

Howabout fixing the dropped connections first though? :)

Source isn't dated. Valve just doesn't like making their games full of grey, brown, and muzzle flash like a certain other company.

Plus, they've been continuously updating Source. The Source Engine that shipped with TF2/HL2ep2/Portal is much more advanced then the version that shipped for HL2/CS:S. Same for L4D, which is even more advanced.

Just like how noone at Valve had gone more than 9 minutes in survival mode? FUck you Valve hype.

I've been hearing a rumor that the Scout from TF2 might be a secretly playable character... which makes some sense considering his weapons would work well in L4D 2 . I wonder if he would be in that fourth "secret" mode?

"Why should we have to buy a brand new game after only a year?"

It's funny isn't it?
Valve have been almost totally unique in their approach to DLC. No charge, awesome content updates, long-term purchase support. TF2 is the prime example.

But, when they decide to produce a paid sequel (we have no idea of the price as yet - the optimist in me wonders whether it will even be full price?) we complain.
Perhaps the question you should be asking is why aren't more publishers releasing free content updates for their games?

Valve could have quite easily charged $5 for each of the class update packs. They wouldn't have had the uptake on them that they have now, but at least they would be getting clear payments for the work that goes into the DLC. At the moment its good press and word-of-mouth that are making them money. "Dude! You should buy TF2 - its awesome! They keep releasing updates FOR FREE!" This leads to further purchases of the game itself, rather than nickel-and-diming current customers to death with micro-transactions.

Ok, so Valve are releasing a paid sequel to their game a mere year after its initial release - Just like _everybody else_. I imagine that this isn't going to become a trend. L4D2 will most likely be their long-term platform for this game series.
