I think this is a good thing. I loved the idea of L4D but I did feel like people seemed to ruin it with the whole "hide in a corner and melee" tactic. It seems like valve learned from their mistakes of the first.

While I do like the idea of these updates, I would never buy this at full price. Hell, I felt a bit bad about buying left 4 dead at 35$, seeing as there were only 4 maps and 5 weapons. If they did a 25% off thing for people who already bought the original, I would feel better about buying it.

4 maps?!
There were 20 maps.
4 campaigns, 5 maps per campaign.
This includes 5 campaigns, so 25 maps, and has versus and survival included at release for all campaigns.
Not to mention new weapons, new special infected, and a new ai director that adds even more replay ability.

There's an old saying in Tennessee. I know it's in Texas, it's probably in Tennessee, that says:
Fool me once, shame on... shame on you.

Fool me, ya can't get fooled again!

The multiplayer grew on me after a bit and so my lack of interest in grew, a new game means a new story, and that's why I play games...

I'll rent it like I did L4D.

No, we don't deserve a discount on L4D2 if you bought the first one. If you bought the first one, it's because you felt it would be worth that much at the time and you are able to enjoy it from your purchase time until you die. A second game doesn't mean you no longer own the first game.

Hey Valve, I love you, I really do, but we're all still waiting on Half-life here, friend. Remember episodic content?

I think people who bought it on 360 are the ones mostly upset. They bought the game for $60.00. So people will migrate over to L4D2. The 360 doesn't keep players online like the pc does. They go from one AAA title to the next.

I'm a little upset by this. Luckly I didn't buy it at $60 like the console players did. I think unless they give a good deal for pre-purchase on steam; I'm gonna wait it out.

Anymore personal insults you want to throw to show how mature and non-condescending you are?

I wish you has the same passion towards valve and their 60 dollar beta as you have for being an internet tough guy.

All the valve games I played online in the past (For PC) had an amazing online community...you can still find DOD:S games to this day. L4D sizzled out fast, most of the people I play on Xbox Live rented it and thought it was okay and never purchased it.

I know I may be an ass, but I'm never wrong with what I say. Since it's release, l4d has stayed in the top 10 most played games, or close to it.

http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/05.aspx

Check the data on last month's top games played on live. L4D is right there.

Well you certainly have statistics to back you up. Whenever I go on, it takes forever to fill out a versus game. Even filling up a basic campaign game takes 5+ min.

Survival mode got players back in, but it still feels like it fizzled out after awhile.

I had extremely high hopes for L4D, and has this been announced as DLC I would have been screaming "valve is teh greatest evar", but as of right now I feel ripped off.

I always judge with my hours/buck meter.

If I spend 10 hours playing a game and pay 60 dollars for it thats 6 dollars an hour.

When I bought Call of Duty 5 I was only interested in Single Player mode and I completed it in about 6 hours so that was 10 bucks per hour.

Left 4 Dead was on half price sale weeks after it came out so I bought it for 30 dollars and I've put in about 50 hours into it. Thats 60 cents per hour.

When I buy Left 4 Dead 2 my requirements are very simple.

For my 60 dollars I want around 10 hours of gameplay out of it at least.

If it meets that requirement I don't care if it comes out in an hour or in a decade I want what I paid for in gameplay hours.

Considering I'm going to get my moneys worth this this game in all likelihood I'm really not bothered about when it comes out.

On the other hand if I wasn't to get my moneys worth this game would never appeal to me regardless of whether it came a year or two later.

wih the foundation already built there wont be any excuse for this sequel not to blow every fan of the first away.

it's biggest shortcoming was the length of time it took to complete each campaign. they were just too short.

this better *not* be the case come Nov.

How long is it going to take people to get through their heads that Valve is a PC developer first and foremost and that them making console games is an afterthought.

Once they put out a product on a console and promise to regularly update it and offer DLC they are obligated to their console customers to follow through. Being a primarily PC developer doesn't give them the right to ignore their other customers.

For the original asking price, this game is so not worth it, luckily though I got it on the cheap. For some reason I feel as if this sequel should have been a DLC instead.... Seeing as they are readying 360 games for downloading in the near future.

Sadly the game's premise is one I love but for me as a final product in this case ended being too arcade geared. If only they would have tried to make it a bit more real survival action type stuff, in a trying to be as real as possible, this franchise would have rocked hard for me. When is someone going to make a game like the one I am thinking of? I want to survive a zombie holocaust with pals online in a mature action packed horror kind of vibe. Some dev has to have the same dream, I hope.

The big problem is that this is a game based almost entirely on online multiplayer, and they're hacking down the user base less than a year after launch.

Wouldn't you be mad if a year after World of Warcraft had launched, they had launched World of Warcraft 2? I think that if they wanted all these features in the first game and it took them all of a year to get them out, they shoulda left the bun in the oven a little longer and released the original just a little later. Otherwise, just patch. I don't buy their lines about this whole thing being so cohesive it had to be a sequel.

That said, I haven't played the first outside of a demo, nor do I want to (not much for playing shooters outside of maybe one per year), and this doesn't really affect me. Just seems like a company I had heard was really great kind of gave a middle finger to their fans.
