They just don't do games like they used to!

Wow!! My day just keeps getting better!!

This takes me waaaay back. Ah, the golden age of computer gaming on my trusty Amiga 500 (with the half meg upgrade no less).

Sadly they don't make games like this any more. I used to love me some point 'n' click action!!

Well actually they do make games like this still, check out Telltale Games! Ex-Lucasarts employees started their own company to make point-and-click adventures!

Made Sam & Max, and Wallace & Grommit and now making Tales of Monkey Island!

:Note to Telltale games:

The 2d hand drawn animation from Curse of Monkey Island was the pinnacle of the series. Go back to that format...please...

This man speaks the truth! I hope the "40hr blockbuster Monkey Island 5" will return to that style. I know cel shading tends to look a little angular, but if they work out how to make the outlines more comic-y I certainly wouldn't mind.

Seems like a HD overlay, just like SSF2T. I'm mildly excited about this, even though i've completed it probably over 100 times. I look forward to doing it over again with HD graphics, and talky characters, yay!

It is just an HD overlay, which is why the animations are a little odd. But that at least means it's identical to the original and we can even switch back to the old graphics. I'm very happy the got the original cast to do the voicework too.

I'll be buying this immediatly, even though I'll be able to complete it in 15 minutes :)

I was sort of hoping it'd look a bit like Monkey Island 3.

Me too, but I've decided I'll take stoner Guybrush over no Guybrush at all. (That's what he looks like in Tales, anyway... haven't decided what exactly he looks like in the remake)

I'm glad you can switch back to the old graphics. The new artwork is beautiful yet remarkably faithful to the original, but still, this game largely is about reminiscence for me, and it won't feel quite the same without the old graphics.

It was one of my favourite games back in the day, I completed it several times. It was engaging, full of character (which modern games sadly lack most of the time), and relentlessly funny.

What I'm looking forward to is playing it without disk swapping. I had it on Atari ST and for one reason or another it came on 8, yes, 8 disks! Sometimes you had to swap disk 3 times in one minute! O.o

Looks good, have they changed the interface? I never played this because of that, I much preferred the ring style of Curse (I know, i'm a cretin).

I have a HUGE grin on my face right now! So happy, so very very happy.

A beautiful remake of one of the greatest games ever made. Now with full first class voice overs and fantastic HD graphics (plus a GUI upgrade).

Please everyone buy this when it comes out because I want Monkey Island 2 Special Edition. The the full Monkey Island Saga will be complete and fully voice acted!

And the news of an all new Monkey Island game at long last! Colour me ecstatic!

I'm still not in-love with the 3D graphics style of Tales of Monkey Island though. Don't get me wrong the game looks great and as long as it's funny it will be fantastic. I just wish they went with the more animated style of Curse of Monkey Island than the 3D style of Escape from Monkey Island. To me the special Edition looks nicer than Tales of Monkey Island.

But hey I'm nit picking for no reason really.

For me Monkey Island is the Star Wars of video Games!

Wow, I'm pretty sure that's the original LeChuck and Guybrush. Definite purchase, I love those guys.

They're going to sell each "episode" for $15, and there will be at least four of them. By the end, you'll pay more than you would for a retail game disc, but since there's no multiplayer it will have limited replayability, and you won't be able to sell it when you're done either.

I think I'll pass.

Actually it's only 34.99 for the whole season. 5 "episodes" If you buy them individually, they are 8.95. I don't know where you got your prices, but go to Telltale Games website. You can pre-order it now and get a free episode from one of their other games.

That's the PC version. I'm talking about the Xbox version. You can't pre-order that.

My prices are from experience. This is how much games like this cost on XBLA.

I'll wait until after all five episodes are released. If they offer the games on a retail disc, I'll buy it.

Tabicat, SOMI:SE isn't going to be split. It's one game. Tales of Monkey Island is the five-part episodic series. The PC is getting both of them; Wii is getting Tales of Monkey Island; and Xbox is getting Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition.

But yeah, I expect SOMI to hit $15-$20. Doesn't matter. I'll buy both.
