it doesn't look terrible, but it doesn't look worth $50, either. also... am i the only one who thinks that "New Super Mario Bros." is a terrible title? what are they gonna call the Mario games next generation? "Newer Super Mario Bros.?"

Maybe I'm jaded but I really wasn't impressed by this game at all. Definitely gonna have to see more but I really felt like "meh".

No, this isn't the only Mario. They announced Mario Galaxy 2.

I was underwhelmed by the demo, but I think a new 2D Mario could be excellent if the right studio were assigned to create it.

Awful, a DS game for wii, and then wii fit + stuff that should have been there from the start and not a game anyways, then wii motion+ which is how silly waggle should have been from the start. Glad I sold my wii.

What are you talking about? I'm a little surprised by a 2D Console Mario. I'm hyped up for it too. Hopefully it delivers something close to what Mario World and Super Mario 3 did. Years of replay value!

I agree.

A NSMB for the Wii was completely out of the left field for me. Of course, lately, I've been completely overwhelmed by anti-Nintendo negativity. At no point did I even realize that NSMB for the Wii was a possibility.

Perhaps that had helped, though, because the 'meh' games which had been announced (Wii Fit Plus, Wii Sport Resorts) didn't bother me while the other games while the nice games (Golden Sun, NSMB) seems extremely nice.

Personally I thought that New Super Mario Bros. for the DS was the best mario game since mario 3 - I can't wait for this, much more excited for this than Super Mario Galaxy 2. I've never been much for the 3D mario games.

hmmmm . . . a "4 player 2-D sidescroller". It smells LittleBigPlanet influence, Mario style for the Wii.

Add in custom level editor and the comparisons can continue.

Don't forget 2d mario has good controls, Lbp controls like feces.

Except the tightness of controls (since original Super Mario Bros.) will remain superior to LBP's floaty, inaccurate control.

@ brentnahmias44, Cellien

It's called 'physics'.

Just view this as a downgraded version of LBP. What else would you expect, it's for the Wii.

LBP wasn't floaty at all. you could make incredibly precise jumps. i know 5 year olds that can do some of the hardest levels like the bunker all the way. those levels require really precise jumping. if you can't jump precisely, you might as well quit gaming.

So, er, if it's local multi and everyone's on one screen, what's going to happen when one person wants to go down a pipe etc?

Well, the screen should zoom in and zoom out depending on the proximity of others, but if the warp is further off, I too can see this as a problem.

The video showed such a scenario. The first player goes down the pipe, and the screen stops moving until the other players (or maybe *enough* of them) also go down the pipe.

Nintendo is so boring! They're basically talking about everything they talked about at last years E3, just extending on it. Please show more Fitness games! Oh please Nintendo! Joy! Show that plus add-on that Project Natal made obsolete yesterday.

Awesome news. I love the 2D resurgence in recent years, which is mostly on Wii. If a game is fun in 2D, then it's fun, bottom line. Mario is best in 2D, and this should be the most beautiful 2D Mario ever made. There are great reasons to be excited.

After Epic's announcement, I'm giddy too see all the 2D love. Anyway, what disheartens me is that Nintendo continues to promote the idea that the way my sister used to flail the controller in the original SMB is precisely the way in which you will control this propeller suit.

This is pure shit in my opinion on Nintendo's part here is why

This is a New Super Mario Bros. from the DS ported to the Wii with 4 player Co-Op.

Don't get me wrong New Super Mario Bros. is an awesome game and I love the multiplayer feature on it with versus mode but porting it onto the Wii as something new just because it has 4 play Co-Op is complete rubbish.

Make a damn sequel of Super Mario 64

I meant a true sequel, while Super Mario Sunshine was fun and I never got into Super Mario Galaxy; Super Mario 64 was by far the best out of the 3 in my opinion.

No way, Galaxy kicks the holy hell outta those other two.

I do think it'll suck, though, if this is just a port of NSMB. Great game, sure, but I've already played through it twice.

Oi.... big surprise... people already putting this game down despite only seeing a demo level!

I think that this game looks like solid Mario fun!
2D Mario has always been fun, and I can't see a Mario Galaxy level model jumping around on a classic 2D-style plane possibly not being fun!

Really? Aren't you a little disappointed they didn't actually put time in effort into a solid single player effort, rather than rehash what'd been done already on the DS? To me this just looks like it smacks of lack of effort.

All I know is I bring my wii out drinking with me.. And the girls I know love 2D mario but not 3D mario.. Plus this is 4 players at once, which is going to be a blast to play with my drinking buddies.

I havent seen enough of it to know what is or isnt missing from it. Have you?

Good point, it might be remarkably fun which is all that matters to me anyway.

Don't get me wrong, this game looks interesting. But it really doesn't look all that different than the DS version. Why not put this on DS as well where the 4-player Co-op would work much better with 4 individual screens? I don't know if you guys heard this but they've sold over 100 million DS units and over 1 million DSi units! Way to go Nintendo!
