Tatsunoko vs Capcom gets online play, 5 new characters for North America [update]

Update: Capcom sent out a release the following day, redacting the mention of online play and five new characters. Did someone at Capcom jump the gun?

The release of Tatsunoko vs Capcom in North America will change a bit from its Japanese counterpart, Capcom has announced. The North American release eliminates one character from the Tatsunoko side of the roster and adds five new fighters not found in the original game. Not only that, but the North American version of the game will also have online play, a feature the original Japanese release cannot boast.

I seriously doubt anyone is going to be added to the Tatsunoko side given how much trouble it's been to license the game with the characters that are all ready on it. Odds are it's just going to be 5 Street Fighter characters. Unless they throw in more Battle of the Planets/Gatchaman characters while they have the license.

Speaking of which, are they gonna call Ken...Mark, or is this strictly Gatchaman? I'd dig Jun being called Princess, though.

This game needs Casey Kasem.

Gill, by the way, it would be fair to just make it a 3-on-3, to the point of putting in Condor Joe.

I mean, just look at the SF side; it already has Ryu, Chun-li, and Alex.

Damnit Capcom, I'm going to have to sell the Jap version and buy another one!

Those extra characters better be along the lines of Ken Masters and Dante, maybe even a bit o' Bionic Commando, Zero, and a monster hunter powerful enough to rival Soki, and Daimon getting the boot, or I'm razing your offices to the ground.

I'm sure he would be more than glad to destroy the company that funded the creation of Mega Man.

So it's obvious that they will add 3 newer Tatsunoko characters and 2 more Capcom characters.

I heard that Capcom wanted to balance out the characters from both sides.

Speed Racer will probably be tough to get since he's actually sort of worth money, but not impossible. I don't know much else about Tatsunoko though.

Amaterasu, Dante, Leon, and maybe even Zack& Wiki for Capcom?

I hope they add Pops Racer. He's a former pro wrestler for Christs sake!

Can you guess who I want in?

Wish list:

1. Keep the "Cross Generation of Heroes" subtitle.
2. Tatsunoko side:

-- Speed Racer (America's gateway to Tatsunoko)
-- Condor Joe
-- Samurai Pizza Cats (joke character, and nostalgia factor... in America!)

3. Capcom side:

any pair will do:

-- Strider Hiryu/Jotaro Kujo (both have their own respective manga series they belong in)
-- Jin Saotome/Tessa (seeing how their own respective games didn't make an A-spec console appearance); ironically, both characters made careers, doing crossover appearances
-- Charlie/Guile (ho yay for the ladies)
-- Nemesis/Tyrant (nightmare fuel)

What about evangelion.....

If they add a character from Resident Evil, I hope they add Chris. Nothing could stand the power of his biceps, especially because he punched a boulder into a volcano. A freaking boulder! Though I wouldn't mind playing as Nemesis personally.

Bring Guile, just because I love his mind games.

Both Speed Racer and SPC are a must for this game too. I really can't recall, or know about Condor Joe for the matter so... :S

And Tim, nice Melty Blood avatar.

Lance, Eva is Gainax; even Tatsunoko Productions made that clear themselves.

Strider Hiryu is a must for this game, I can't believe he isn't on it in the first place. He's the perfect Capcom side rival for Casshern.

Here's my 3-on-3 line up:

Capcom
- Strider (Perfect Casshern rival)
- Jin Saotome (Another character that should have been on in the first place)
- Captain Commando

Tatsunoko
- Speed Racer (Because he's Speed Racer)
- Kurenai Sanshiro (This guy is like Ryu and Speed Racer...combined!)
- Space Ace (As Megaman's rival)

Make it happen Capcom.

I'm just glad Yatterman-1's still in. D: I'd been sad if he were cut.

This makes me remember the rumors of dante being the PS2 exclusive character in Soul Calibur 3.

After watching the American trailer, I can confirm that the only character cut from the Tatsunoko side is the big genie, Hakushon Daimao...

Shame, he was one of my favorites to play as...

It would be hilarious... and very believable that they all 5 characters will be capcom, and even more funny if they were all street fighter characters......

I'm not saying tatsunoko bad, but it just isn't as popular in america, so I could definitly see them doing something like that... either way thats more characters for us! I just hope they don't remove one of the characters I actually play =[

Probably three Tatsunoko (To replace the one lost Tatsunoko character) and 2 Capcom ones.

If they mean ONE character from tatsunoko side, means the thing is is between Polyman, GoldenRaitan, Tetsuman blade.. almsot unknown characters on teh west, I am pretty sure those have copyrights F**ked up with some greedy old like hell companies that dont have any idea of what do do with them... The others pass fine I guess..
5 new characters means no EXTRA series is included...most like characters from the currently presented... Capcom doesnt have any issues..so you can wait for Ken, or Guile..or Zangief... mm..I woudlr ather prefer Arthur, Valkyrie, Demitri Maximov... who knows!

chris redfield and dante and gene from godhand would be AWESOME :]

What we need here for sure is Rick Hunter or Max Sterling from Robotech, any RE character really, Speed Racer, a hunter from Monster Hunter, and of course, Phoenix Wright.

Hopefully the one cut is Tekkaman, and two of the characters added are Tekkaman Blade and Tekkaman Evil.

Also, can we please get a Rival Schools/Justice Gakuen character besides Batsu the Ken/Ryu clone? A game based on having the most interesting fighting styles possible and they go with vanilla.
