Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC) @ Jun 2nd 2009 5:24PM
For the last time Is a giant cat-dog-bird! Gosh.
Can you Imagine all the spit a pet of that size would left on its toys? Good thing those toys happen to be soldiers.

Xeones25 @ Jun 2nd 2009 10:09PM
I don't really understand the whole "kitty dragon" business.
Seems more like a spin-off of a griffin.

E3 Press Conference Rankings:
1. Sony (By a LONG shot)
2. Microsoft
Dead-Fucking Last: Nintendo
Lemmiwinks @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:13PM
as 20+ year nintendo fan
i have to agree.
StarStabbedMoon @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:13PM
Is that the same kind of exaggerated ranking where people like to say the gamecube was dead fucking last when it only sold a couple million less than the xbox and the ps2 sold more than twice both of them put together?
handlas @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:14PM
I agree. Minus the $250 PSP Go!...no thx.
I can't wait to play some Uncharted 2 beta tonight tho. What I'm most excited about since the dev said it will be available at midnight.
GiggMan @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:15PM
Agreed but not with the long shot part though.
Zsavior @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:17PM
Sorry I don't think anybody won I think they were all the same. One Or two great Games to look forward, the rest self impressive bullshit, and talk about how they helped grow the industry.
Then Finishing with how much Motion control matters blah blah blah. They were all middle of the road boring except for some few up notes. Basically if you were liking your system, they gave you something to look forward to. If you were looking at each company and they weren't your company of choice you hated them. And if you were indifferent you are still indifferent accept for a few titles.
But neither had anything mind blowing that makes you want to run out and buy any system off the back if you didn't own it, they all feel like they are playing the wait and see approach.
Storm Eagle @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:17PM
@StarStabbedMoon It's my personal feelings on what each company delivered at their respective conference. As it goes, my eyes were glued to the screen and I had a grin on my face for the entire duration of the Sony conference. Microsoft's was good but left much to be desired. And Nintendo, well, they would've been better of just showing old Nintendo commercials the entire time. Atleast then I would've felt like I, as a gamer, mattered again.
Hexen @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:18PM
I don't know, I think if you switch up Sony and Microsoft it would be more accurate or at least tied.
Storm Eagle @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:21PM
@Zsavior Really? Sony did exactly what they needed to. Show people why they should by a PS3. Granted there was no price drop, but they dangled some awesome exclusives in front of everyone, and I for one, am glad I own one. Uncharted 2, MAG, God of War III, MAG, FFXIV, GT5, Hard Rain, Ratchet & Clank....do you want me to keep going? They showed more games and talked less. Which is exactly what MS and Pretendo should've been doing.
acefondu @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:21PM
Nintendo showed 3 games that interest me, SMG2, Metroid, and Golden Sun DS. Sony showed 2 that interested me, Last Guardian and God of War III, and MS .... didn't have any that caught my eye. So by that ranking I give it:
1. Nintendo
2. Sony
3. Microsoft
But all 3 shows were a step up from last year.
Lemmiwinks @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:21PM
There was an entire layer of polish lacking in Microsoft's presentation, which both Sony and Nintendo had. Sony, though, split the difference between the unorganized, spastic excitement that was the MS show and the lethargic, dry trade presentation that Nintendo brought.
Alzheimers @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:22PM
Agree on #1, but I'll say that Nintendo and MS tied for #2 this year.
As lame as the new EKG peripheral was, the Natal and the Wii Motion Plus were kind of a wash. SMG 2 and especially the new Metroid saved Nintendo's bacon this year.
But, to compete with FF XVI, God of War 3, AND Modracers? Fallacy!
(and to think, the big surprise - PSP GO, was actually just an opening act!)
Duke @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:32PM
I would go MS, Nintendo then Sony. While Sony had some good stuff, it was largely not new and shocking. Nintendo finally gave the fan service it owed and deserves credit for that. MS comes up with a controller system without controllers, which could be game changing. Sony on the other hand still doesn't date one of its biggest games at yet another E3 - where is GT for the PS3!?
In the end, each conference was good though. We all won this year, no matter what there are some new peripherals coming our way that we will all jump on and lots of great titles.
Quattro @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:32PM
I'd say it depends on which way you go. The Sony conference was nice, but a bit too drawn out for my likes. I'd say that who 'won' completely varies per person.
Storm Eagle @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:36PM
@Duke So the "fan service" you're referring to: The new Metroid I'll give you. That saved the show (if it could be saved.) But you can't possibly be referring to the rehashed versions of SMG and NSMB?
handlas @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:39PM
lol Duke puts Sony in last place? After Ninentdo....really? Then you go on to ask where was GT? Good job paying attention there buddy.

Kdiggy @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:39PM
@Storm Eagle - Agreed. Nintendo's was certainly better than last years though. I'm a little disapointed there was no White Knight or Heavy Rain... but still FF 14 in 2010! WTF?!?!
Duke @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:40PM
We know that its all rehashed already? I didn't know there was such a detailed look at the titles they announced. Where are these reviews that I can read?
Duke @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:42PM
Hey handlas, I was asking for its street date not more video. Thanks for acting like you know WTF you are talking about though.
Storm Eagle @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:43PM
@Capt. Planet - So we battle again. You can't possibly pay no mind to Uncharted 2. That game gives my orgasms (It makes me cry.) And MAG? 256 Players Online? Come on dude. And I think you mean FFXIV. Not FFIV.
acefondu @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:45PM
All Capt. did was list everything MS said at their show this year whether it looked good or not, lol.
Storm Eagle @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:47PM
@Duke. You know what I mean by rehashed. Don't play(?) stupid. They're doing the same thing Sony does with it's PS2 games and PSP. "Oh. It sold well on PSP? Port it to PS2!" It's what Nintendo's doing with New Super Mario Bros. And all they did to Galaxy was add Yoshi and new levels. What's this? Oh, I remember! It's the same fucking thing they did with Super Mario Sunshine.
traceur_ryuk_shinigami @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:48PM
LOL @ captain planet, you fail...
Zsavior @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:48PM
I don't know why I got voted down but Storm Eagle you just reiterated what I typed before. If you are happy with your system of choice then Fine those games interest you, but if you aren't they don't make you pick one up. Sony has GT Xbox 360 had Forza 3, Sony has Heavy Rain Xbox Alan Wake, Each side had a counter, there was no clear winner, in less you want to see one.
The motion control section shows something that would be an add on to a system, not the main purpose of a system. You can make as many list as you want but it means nothing in the long run. Each on of these shows were pretty much boring with a consumer that either has two out of the three or none looking at the competition going maybe, maybe. What appeals to one person or a set of people doesn't exactly appeal to another set.
I don't know why people feel the need to find a winner of E3 when obviously each system was showing off towards their customers. If anything this whole E3 was each company going OOHH OOOH! I can do it to. I mean you made a list as if MS didn't have that exact same things. Motion control Check, MGS check, Talk of online check. SHow of the future Check.
What did sony do that MS didn't? As for nintendo they still aren't aiming at the same audience as Sony and MS. Once again they focused on what they do best as a company and, that seems to be working because now their competitors are jumping in the motion sensing arena with them. I don't see how anybody is getting clear winners from this E3. I mean anybody can see what they want I am just looking at what is there.
traceur_ryuk_shinigami @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:50PM
And MGS: rising isn't 360 exclusive
acefondu @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:52PM
@storm, What? Same thing they did with Sunshine? They only made 1 of those, lol. It plays very different than any other Mario and is great in its own right. This is the first time we get two full on Mario games for one system since the SNES, I couldn't be happier myself.
Quattro @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:52PM
It's quite clear to me that the NSMB for the Wii and SM Galaxy 2 are rehashes. For one, the NSMB doesn't even have a new title does it? Just Wii added on to the end? And what do they show off as the biggest thing about it? 4 player gameplay... great. And Super Mario Galaxy 2, rather than make an all new 3D mario game, the simply release a direct sequel to Super Mario Galaxy. Also they highlight the fact that 2 3D Super Mario games have never been released on one console.
acefondu @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:56PM
@Quattro have you ever played a game with a "2" in the title? If so then you are falling victim to your own criticisms.
Quattro @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:57PM
@acefondu
Yea, it was called Final Fantasy X-2, another direct sequel. Wasn't so great.
Duke @ Jun 2nd 2009 4:59PM
Dude, I can see how thins is going. God forbid anyone say something positive about someone other than Sony today. Yes, everything Nintendo did was a rehash and MS molests baby animals. I got it. Sony is the best and all others must be spoken ill of. To be rational is to be weak.
acefondu @ Jun 2nd 2009 5:00PM
Well I'm shocked you've never played games like Super Mario 2, MGS2, DMC2, God of War 2, Ninja Gaiden 2, GTA2, Final Fantasy 2, Resistance 2, Gears of War 2, Halo 2. That really limits your choices. I tend to not avoid numbers, I'm not superstitious.
traceur_ryuk_shinigami @ Jun 2nd 2009 5:01PM
@Duke: that's not what people are saying, what they are saying is don't be a complete fanboy and twist things up
