Konami announces Pop'n Music for Wii, with no Pop'n Music controller

"Easy and fun to play," according to the game's feature list. "Basic controls move the Nunchuk and Wii Mote up, down, left and right." In which case, it's just a cutesy music game. Why does Konami do this stuff to its music games every E3?
This so-called Pop'n Music will be out this fall.

That's exactly what they must have done and look what happened. They churned out this garbage.

Can I say it?
FAIL

Konami does it because they hate the human race.

I can't believe this. I gasped in joy, then let the utter disappointment sink in.
Time to save up $5000 for ps2 pop'n music. Ugh. Did the Taiko game ever come out, or are we losing cutesy music games forever?
Spiritsnare @ Jun 3rd 2009 4:42PM
Taiko no Tatsujin Wii? Yes, it did, and did so while keeping all of the visuals that's made Taiko the charming game that it is.
But, of course, it released only in Japan.

Importing a Japanese PS2 isn't THAT expensive, and the home-version controller can still be found here and there on eBay (but that's easily the most expensive part). However... if you want to import JUST for Pop'n, that might be unwise. Look into lots of other games NA never got (AIR, Super Robot Taisen a3, Mushihimesama, etc.).
I managed to get a .jp PS2 in '04 for $350 shipped; picked up Pop'n 9 at the time for $60, and then paid $200 for a custom-built arcade-size controller (the guys who made it don't make them anymore, sadly). Overall a wonderful investment on my part and definitely a personal dream come true... I just have too many other games to play to get truly good at Pop'n, though it get brought out around the beginning of anime con season so I don't embarrass myself too much.

I know everyone is tired of grey and brown but this is a bit much.

This makes me glad I imported 1-4 for Dreamcast so many moons ago....

There goes my hope for something good from third party Wii devs this year.

Konami is such a crap company. They could've released Beatmania, Guitar Freaks, Pop'n Music, Drumania, Keyboardmania, etc., long ago and never did. Instead we get crap games like Guitar Hero/RockBand and this upcoming DJ Hero.

I was excited when I heard that Konami trademarked Pop'n Music in the states last month. This doesn't excite me one bit that they're bringing us a Pop'n game that doesn't even use the controller. :(
Kralos @ Jun 3rd 2009 10:07PM
Hi Pop'n Music! Welcome to the party, why don't you go over there to the corner and join Beatmania and Taiko Drum Master? I'll just go over there with... Guitar Hero... uh? Rock Revolution? Oh... no, we didn't invite him...
I guess now I can build a wooden ASC as a summer project to play imports.

I have literally dreamed of Pop 'n Music coming to America for five years now. After playing it in an arcade when visiting my relatives in Canada, I instantly fell in love with the game. I knew that it was only avaliable in Japan but I kept dreaming that it would come. When I first saw the Pop 'n Music logo on Konami' USA website, I was jumping up and with soo much joy because I thought my dream was finally coming true. Then I saw the screenshots of the game and the game description.................:(Way to ruin one of the best music games of all time Konami.Time to save a few hundred dollars for a Japanese PS2, a Pop 'n Music controller, and a Pop 'n Music game.

Or you can just mod your system and play burnt games instead. That saves a whole mess of money. In fact, i know a site that hosts every single Pop n music game ever made for PS2.
