@ yokel.

Why are you thanking Microsoft? Konami/Kojima Productions are the one's who are making the game. Microsoft have nothing to do with it

I expect Microsoft's E3 next year to acquire another Sony exclusive. It seems like this is the current trend every year

"yeah why doesn't sony buy exclusives from microsoft?"

Because Sony has no money to buy anything from anyone. This was something I knew was going to happen when MS joined the industry, that they were just going to buy everything up. It just took them like 7 years before they started doing it.

I don't ever recall metal gear solid: rising ever being announced as an exclusive for the PS3.

So what exclusive did microsoft actually get of sony's this year?

yeah, sony has a policy of not buying exclusive games. they tend to "help" certain developers when they're choosing platforms for certain titles, though...

I'm glad, really. I guess Kojima learned his lesson after Substance on the original Xbox sucked. Seriously, I have both PS2 and Xbox Substance, the PS2 version is 10 times better. No slowdown, better controls, and a skateboarding minigame.

The SKA remix of the MGS theme is probably the best part of that skateboarding game, though. x_X But this is good news for both sides, indeed.

And maybe multiple discs for the XBOX.

Now that I know it is not really being headed by Kojima...I don't mind...The only reason I played the Metal Gear Games is because he continually brought his brilliance with everything he worked on. I really do not trust this new staff to bring what he brought...If you watch the Blu Ray in the Limited Edition he really had to push his staff to strive for a new limit. I will follow Kojima's more involved Peace Walker closer.

Shouldn't they drop "Solid" from the title since Snake isn't the main character?

Solid Snake was the main character of both Metal Gear 1 and 2 before it had Solid in the title.

I think they should have dropped the Solid title after MGS2, but I think they stick with it because casual fans aren't aware of the previous 'Metal Gear' titled games.

@jahd5000, Yeah but Snake was actually in it, and the storyline was related to him as well.

Who knows.. Kojima is the master of surprise.

Kojima has stated in a previous interview around the release of the PSP games that the "Solid" prefix means it's a stealth+action game that pertains to and is canon to the Solid universe, that's why the card games (Metal Gear Ac!d) don't carry the prefix. They apparently don't follow that naming pattern anymore with the release of Metal Gear Solid Touch but you could even argue that it now represents just that it's Canon to the "Solid" storylines.

Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater was a "Solid" game, but it didn't feature "Solid Snake." Snake was Naked Snake, Big Boss...

The title almost doesn't matter anymore. Its named MGS because fans associate it with AWESOME. A marketing decision.

What's more telling is the subtitle... every MGS game up to this point (even on the PSP) has been "Tactical Espionage Action." But Rising is something different.... "Lightning Bolt Action" implies a totally new gameplay.

No they shouldnt drop the Solid title. Even though Snake isnt the main character or as in MGS3 wasnt part of it at all, the story still involves Solid Snake because as we all know MGS4 is the Final Solid Snake game, and if another one gets made with him as the main character before hes all old and stuff, its just another back story type game leading up to how Snake got where he was in MGS4. MGS Rising is explaining more about Big Boss, and how he got SOLID Snake involved... so thats why they are keeping the title Metal Gear Solid.

God forbid the unltra nationalist Kojima makes something exclusive for the 360. I bet you representatives for Konami probably felt like pulling teeth when they insisted on Kojima make Rising for the 360.

Konami: "Please Kojima we need your blessing, for the well being of this company!"

Kojima: "No, that dirty western company will ruin my vision! With their inferior product! There is no way that DVD 9 can hold 100 hours of my monotonous, incoherent, kindergarten deep dialouge!"

Konami: "Please Kojima everyone is going multiplatform! Look we'll fund your next game and promise to trick University english professors like we tricked your fanboys into convincing the literary world that you are the Hemingway of gaming!"

Kojima: "Hmmm this is relevant to my interests...SOLD!...Where do I sign?"

Well actually Kojima isn't directing this game, instead he is going to focus completely on the PSP game. So I don't see the purpouse of this game at all.
