White Knight Chronicles gets town-building, Q1 release for US
Smaller features that are going to be added to the western release of the game include an autorun feature and improvements to the targeting system. The extra online missions that have been released since the Japanese launch -- roughly two a month -- will also be on the disc. Level-5 is also adding a system that was key to their Dark Cloud series, Georama, which will allow you to create your own town during the online portion of the game. Exactly how it'll work or how it will affect gameplay is unclear.
Level-5 is looking in to getting Japanese voices into the western version of the game for Japanophiles, and is still "working on" voice chat, but White Knight chronicles will definitely support cross-region play for the US and Europe when it launches.

Also, woo first post.
MariusElijah (Only on PlayStation 3) @ Jun 3rd 2009 7:21PM
can they also improve the graphics while they are at it
Ezio Auditore de Firenze [PSN SniperChameleon] @ Jun 3rd 2009 7:31PM
what? it looks beautiful, especially for a game with that much content.
Henry E. @ Jun 3rd 2009 7:22PM
Sweet, more time to save money for it.
tmacairjordan87 @ Jun 3rd 2009 7:22PM
I would much rather have a Dark Cloud 3, but I admit adding a town building feature has slightly increased my interest in this game from 0% to about 5%
farmasteve @ Jun 3rd 2009 7:26PM
omfg I hate waiting on localization
LegendaryRedass @ Jun 3rd 2009 8:55PM
Don't feel too bad, they only recently got Mass Effect in Japan. Hell, I'm not sure if it is out yet over there. I know it was on microsoft's lineup for this year in Japan.
digiboi @ Jun 3rd 2009 7:29PM
Level-5 must be the dumbest company - "lets release our RPG at the same time as the next installment of Final Fantasy"
FAIL
Ezio Auditore de Firenze [PSN SniperChameleon] @ Jun 3rd 2009 7:34PM
what the hell are you smoking? level-5 is miles above square-enix.
Ezio Auditore de Firenze [PSN SniperChameleon] @ Jun 3rd 2009 7:36PM
oh, andd Q1 2010 is a pretty long time period. they could be released weeks or months apart.
Cory @ Jun 3rd 2009 8:04PM
I'm with you. If this game gets released within a month of FF13 so many people will end up overlooking it which is sad because it looks like a fantastic game. I'd still rather have Dark Cloud 3 but this can hold me over until Level-5 gets off their asses and start making that game for me. :)
Maverick Saturn @ Jun 3rd 2009 8:14PM
Digiboi, level 5's game and final fantasy are nothing like each other, those who prefer old age swords, knights etc etc will simply pick White Knight over FF. I for one love the traditional RPG styles and prefer them to the new matrix / anime theme FF games have taken on, theres less focus on how COOL the character looks and more focus on epic battles utilising shields and swords the way they were supposed to, I'd prefer to see when I hit or miss something rather then be given a big MISS in text.
I still want FF13, but it's strayed away from the knight battles I love, so whether or not it releases when FF does won't stop people from buying it
Maverick Saturn @ Jun 3rd 2009 8:17PM
Also, the fact it is co-op campaign is a major bonus.
Just because FF13 is a big brand game doesn't mean people HAVE to buy it over WKC if they prefer WKC.
Cory @ Jun 3rd 2009 7:31PM
town building feature? hmmm... Maybe they are testing a new building engine for Dark Cloud 3. Or not its probably just in my head.
Ezio Auditore de Firenze [PSN SniperChameleon] @ Jun 3rd 2009 7:32PM
i love level-5. this is a day one purchase. jeanne d'arc is still the best RPG on PSP, in my opinion. this game looks stellar! online play and RPGs are some of my favorite things and now i get both!
HairyBalls @ Jun 3rd 2009 7:32PM
Master Shake is in the game I can see...
Velsar @ Jun 3rd 2009 7:35PM
NO MORE MULTIPLAYER IN MY RPG'S AND STORY-BASED GAMES!!!! GRR....
For each multiplayer aspect allowed in such games, Joystiq and ALL OTHER game-industry based associations, companies, and what not will be FORCED to eat AWFUL FOOD, for a MONTH...
Think of the writers... think of the blue-collar!!!
Ezio Auditore de Firenze [PSN SniperChameleon] @ Jun 3rd 2009 7:37PM
why does it matter? if it's done in a good way, and doesn't affect single player, what the hell do you care? if anything, it's people who complain about online multiplayer who makes the "blue-collar" eat awful food for a month.
Velsar @ Jun 3rd 2009 7:41PM
Because the multiplayer takes up space, space which the SP could add more content through, they also take up the budget.
tmacairjordan87 @ Jun 3rd 2009 7:45PM
Because people like me hate playing online, and from looking up at the article it says the town building will be online so the 5% interest I had in the game just went back to 0 because of that.
I will go back to my corner and continue waiting for a proper Dark Cloud 3.
Ezio Auditore de Firenze [PSN SniperChameleon] @ Jun 3rd 2009 7:52PM
um, okay? so some people hate online, some people (like me) can barely live without it. that's why i'm still at the beginning of the second island on infamous. because i need multiplayer action. can't we appease both kinds of people? tmac, if you're not interested in this game, why are you even discussing it with people who are sure they're purchasing it?
Ezio Auditore de Firenze [PSN SniperChameleon] @ Jun 3rd 2009 7:54PM
and assuming the single player is as complete as possible, and they added online as a bonus, then it's not taking anything away from single player.
samik @ Jun 3rd 2009 7:59PM
Would normally agree, but Uncharted seems to be a good example of excellen coop / multiplayer to complement an already fabulous story-driven single-player game
Ezio Auditore de Firenze [PSN SniperChameleon] @ Jun 3rd 2009 8:04PM
and samik reminded me of another thing. the uncharted 2 multiplayer beta is SICK, and i remember you (referring to tmac) complaining about it when it was announced. if WNC multiplayer turns out as good as U2 multiplayer, then it'll be the best RPG on the PS3.
Kagebutsu @ Jun 3rd 2009 7:39PM
"and is still "working on" voice chat" really level 5? what fucking year is it now.
Tridrakious @ Jun 3rd 2009 7:47PM
Just release the damn game already. It's been what 3 years since it's announcement? It released christmas last year in japan. Release the town building stuff as dlc. I'm tired of waiting. I didn't want to pick between Final Fantasy XIII and White Knight Chronicles. I'll pick FF XIII over WKC.
samik @ Jun 3rd 2009 7:57PM
Maybe mosdt of their team has already moved on to Dark Cloud 3 or whatever they had planned? Still, over one year for localisation is too much, had hoped for Q4 2009 for this one
Bernardo @ Jun 3rd 2009 7:56PM
So many great news! All the new content should be great, plus I'm really glad they're planning to release it in Europe at the same time as in the US... we had to wait months for the other L5 games.
Whispertrance @ Jun 3rd 2009 8:11PM
I don't know if the graphics just look weird, or I just feel into the Uncanny Valley.
Whispertrance @ Jun 3rd 2009 8:11PM
fell^
fakingmyself @ Jun 3rd 2009 8:53PM
Fucking bullshit , I thought it was coming later this year . I guess I'll have to wait then . If only I knew japanese , but I'm way too lazy to learn a new language , learning english is enough .
Fredin @ Jun 3rd 2009 9:28PM
Not a single one of you seems to be aware that this game sucked badly. Famitsu, which usually goes easy on JRPGs, gave it 29/40. The gameplay is BAD (I invite you to check out the gameplay videos) and the graphics are outdated (don't give me excuses; the PS3 can do much better than that). "I'm in it for the story!" The story is terrible as well. I won't spoil it, but even for videogame standards this has a bad story (plus it is also is incredibly generic). I know Level 5 can do good stuff, but this ain't it kids; move on.
koehler83 @ Jun 3rd 2009 9:33PM
Way to go Level 5, you fucking idiots. Put your ass right up next to FFXIII. Fucking brilliant.
If you're going to patch it in Japan, patch it in all regions at once and release the fucking game already! 6 months localization is too much. Over a year is just rediculous.

2010...in same time that FF13...brillant next time make a worldwide release...hopefully we have Japanese and subs!
Wait for localization in 2009 is boring put multi-language in the production...i dont understand Japan Studio and SCEJ!
ryunkasaragi @ Jun 6th 2009 6:05AM
Well, I'm just glad that this is getting a NA release. I was starting to doubt it for a little while. I don't know why people are bitching about there being online play in addition to the story mode. It's not like you can't just play one or the other. Also, I'll look forward to picking WKC up and having FFXIII getting delayed again. And if not, then it's not like
