This 24/7 Joystiq is pretty crazy, I don't have time to read all of it. I'm sure Team Joystiq isn't too happy though.

Don't forget us people who don't live in America who spend a considerable proportion of the day without floods of gaming news ;(

It could be a hyperbole, but when developers make games do they really think of their target audience as "hardcore maniac"s?

I'd say that I hope I'm not one of them, but I'm posting on Joystiq.

I'd choose the hardcore maniac setting if it made it to the final game. My wife would hate me for all the curse words, but its the most fun when you finally beat it.

"Not just for the 'hardcore maniac player'"

Yeah, for the horny nerds too.

I'm sorry but this game just looks silly. The man clearly is trying too hard and something so far over the top just comes of as a joke, IMO. Doesn't look interesting and it definitely wont have easy achievements so he can take it and shove it.

I disagree... I think it looks great. Its certainly over the top but it seems to handle it in a pretty classy manner. From the perspective of a girl gamer, I can also say I appreciate that the main character is a girl and that she is wearing some clothes. It makes for a nice change.

really? because to me she looks like just another hypersexualized heroine. The gratuitous crotch shots and porny one liners in the trailer are a big hint.

Well...wearing clothes until she pulls off a special move...
Then it's nothing but a sexy pose in a birthday suit while her hair runs off to play shadow puppets.

@ how_much_I_carrot oh she leaves a LOT to be desired for sure. But I am pleased that the industry has taken a small step forward by not putting her in a bikini.

Sweet, this has increase my interest in the game. I largely play games for the atmosphere/story/involving experience, and rarely to be very challenged. I get impatient and just want to get to the story generally :P

Easy and Very Easy! What? Clearly, this game is shovelware.

Try not to be stupid. Hard, isn't it? Well, you like things hard, don't you? So imagine the precipice that you're climbing. The game features easy and really-easy modes. It also features hard modes. In other words (I'm trying to write this as if you're in 6th grade, which you may be-- in which case I'll forgive you), YOU can play the game on hard. OTHERS can play the game on easy. What is your problem with letting more people enjoy a game, who otherwise wouldn't have?

I wonder if the shareholders had anything to do with this?

Setting out to make the most niche game possible is great for that niche but not so for your profit margins.

We (the folks who play games like this, Ninja Gaiden, etc. on Hard) will henceforth be calling these modes "Bitch" and "Double Bitch", respectively.

Then call me a double-bitch. At least now I'll get to enjoy the game, I don't care what you call me.

They Devil May Cries had easy modes too. This is a good thing. I love games like DMC and the difficulty can be a challenge and fun but not all people are the same. Some people just want to blow though the game, get down the controls, and experience the story. Then they may come back on some harder difficulties if they really like it.

This is relevant to the main character, but was she at E3?
Cause I would definitely wanted to be their.

As long as I still get to play his dream "sadistically hard" version. Too may "lol I play games for the story instead of reading a book or watching a movie" gamers ruin games like Prince of Persia.

I am suddenly interested in this game, again. I'm 39, I have tons of stuff to do, and I can't play super-hard videogames, or even relatively hard, or even hard. I need the story to progress, and if it's too hard I don't have enough time to do something ten times and still fail. So for people like me, this is awesome, because I get to experience how cool this game is-- I've been keeping it on my radar, but when 'insanely hard' or whatever turned up, I tuned out. Now, I'm tuned in, again. Very excited for the 'very easy' version of this, so I can enjoy what the kids are playing, and what the artists are doing. I love that developers are adding 'easy' to the mix. This just gets in tons more older players, like myself.
