@Mr French
That's exactly what I thought when I played Uncharted 1.
It reminded me of the golden days, where games were amazingly fun.
Playing Tomb Raider Underworld after Uncharted 1 made me feel sick lol it wasn't fun at all.
I just can't wait for this to come quick enough :-(

I mean no offense but why does everyone complain about the price of the PS3? It's not that much more than the Xbox 360 and you get wifi included and a bluray player.
I think the real downer for both consoles is the price of the games - heck , I spend over $1000/year on games alone and that is at a rate of 1.5 a month (1 game in month, 2 games the next)...

Now if only every game was as well written and with with this kind of top notch Facial Animation and Voice Acting...
I'll be honest. I've always loved the MGS series and I hold a special place for them, but this trailer alone beats MGS in terms of voice acting and facial expressions. I doubt the story's as good, but it always bothered me how MGS had such sucky facial expressions and some of ther actors always seemed a bit too corny when acting (but that might be because of some of the voice acting). Then again, they "act too much" in MGS. It doesn't sound real. But I guess I'm alone in this one. The japanese version does sound great (thou I'd rather play the game in English) but the facial expressions are still lacking.
Uncharted 2 is the kind of game I'd love to just sit back and watch. Why play it? It DOES look like a movie, and I don't have nothing against watching it. It's not my type of action gameplay. Too many "cover" shooters nowadays, and I've never been interested in any of them. Was only interested in the first (which wasn't GoW, but Killswitch), and then never again.

I believe the facial animations were not drawn but capture using motion-capture. All cut scenes in the game were done so and so were certain repeated actions such as jumps, dodges etc. Making it very realistic. I actually finished the original game just a few days back and I agree this game is really really good.

You are right they did seem to use motion capture for all repeat movements. I've got the beta and it looks amazing and plays really well but everytime i jump off something its like im trying to jump up to something else with my arms up, even though there is nothing there. But that is the only problem i have with it. and it will probably be different in the game. they wer just saving space in the beta

Agreed for the most part, even the MGS part (huge MGS fan here).
Just wanted to add, If brilliant facial animation/ voice acting is something you're after right now, I'd recommend giving Half-Life 2 a go if you haven't already. I'd say it's on par with what's in this trailer.

Yeah, for me personally, she's E3's biggest reveal. I was worried, when they were talking about the new chick. Glad Elena didn't get thrown by the wayside.

Hear hear! Uncharted is still the best game on the PS3. Not that there aren't many other good ones, but damn, Uncharted was awesome. The story, the action, the acting, the graphics, the gameplay. So damn polished and so well done. I can't wait for this one, because I know that, unlike almost every other game out there ---
It. Will. Be. Just. As. Good. As. It. Looks.

So far, IMHO this year's E3 has been substantially better than last year's, however Nintendo's conference still leaves something to be desired.
Uncharted 2 looks really good. I really need to rent the first Uncharted and play it....i would have already played it but I haven't had a chance.

Ive recently just "invested" in a ps3, after being a long time 360 loyalist, and personally finding myself bored, so to speak, I can comfortably say this;
GTFO!
This game looks amazing in every aspect of the word. If you can honestly look at that gameplay trailer, and cannot discern the gameplay from the TINY cinematic content, then one of two things can be established:
A.) They've achieved their goal of creating a wonderfully engaging and cinematic(zing?) experience.
B.) You, as a "gamer", lack an eye to differentiate said elements from one another.

In respond to your post further down...pretty much all of the trailer from the halfway point on was actual gameplay. If you can find some of the other trailers you'll see what I was talking about.

Just by checking out Uncharted 1, you can see how amazing the graphics were then, and how fluid and alive the animations were.
And on the beta, it's the same thing if not better.

One other point is that while it is half cinematic in the trailer, the scenes are GOOD. I mean, sure, anyone can make awesome cutscenes, but there is just something about the ones from Drake's Fortune that I could watch over and over. Just charming.
So bring on the cut scenes I say!

If you played the first Uncharted, there's no CGI. The graphic remained consistent throughout the game. Even if you are watching the movie, it flow right through with real time game play.

Whoa. That's really badass then. Still, I wanted to see more of the gameplay and my comment was more directed at the fact that the majority of it really wasn't the actual game being played (if that makes sense).
I don't own a PS3 yet, but this (along with the first Uncharted, LBP, and Resistance) is going to make it tough not to buy one if there's a price drop.

I've been seeing that inFamous commercial all over the place....seen it on Discovery the other day....they have done a BETTER job of marketing inFamous than they did with Killzone 2 and the PS3 itself!!! Now if they just increase it a LITTLE for Uncharted 2 by playing THAT trailer during Football games and MLB Playoffs then they can REALLY rack up!!!

with material as good as Uncharted 2 even my dog would make a kick ass trailer.
Uncharted 1 was the big surprise of the PS3, and still remains one of the best looking, most fun i`d had with games this generation. I just can't believe how much more polished and ambitious the sequel looks.
Naughty Dog = love

That's the ORIGINAL Playstation 1 marketing sounder. I think it's a testament to them getting over themselves and getting back to basics.
The first time I saw the inFamous commercial and heard that old-school sounder, all I could think was "Finally, they "get" it again."
