@ToTheMoon

I'm pretty sure that he was just remarking with regards to the standard cables included, not the disc mediums or video formats available. I personally have not bought a ps3 since launch, but I had bought the cheap 20gig one then, and it came only with standard def output cables, I ponied up for a HDMI cable on my own. I bought the premium xbox, and of course I got component HD... I don't know if the ps3 bundles come with component now or not... but I figure that is what he is talking about

Much like their initial trashing of 1080p and then seeing the light, MS now also sees the value in more on-disc space too.

The 'initial trashing' was only marketing speak, though. It's not like anyone would actually bash 1080p.

What? Microsoft has brought the HD love since day 1 of the 360 launch.

Sony is the one who needs to explain why they're against 1080p since every console they ship isn't cspable of it out of the box.

You mean by saying that '1080p is irrelevant this generation'?

Don't make excuses for them. When their marketing says something stupid, they deserve to pay the price for it as much as anyone else does. No need to try to minimize it.

Every PS3 is capable of it.

Yeah, I remember the HD love from day 1. When Peter Moore said that all 360 games would be required to be in at least 720p and then shipped PGR3 which only rendered at 1024x576 as a launch title.

@why not the LS2LS7?

didn't Sony say that all PS3 games would be naively rendered at 1080p?
so what was HAZE rendered at :? wasn't it at 1024x576?

Why the down vote? It's a fact that Sony doesn't sell a single console that a consumer can buy, take home and enjoy hd out of the box.

Microsoft, otoh, sells two versions of the 360 that are hd capable out of the box. Explain to me how people feel that Sony is the champion of hd when they don't even bother including the proper cables for their consoles.

So let me get this straight, I can buy a 360, go home and pop in a Blu-Ray or a HD-DVD disc without buying anything extra? I didn't realize that the Xbox 360 shipped with a blu-ray and/or HD-DVD drive.

Thanks for enlightening me.
/Sarcasm

Btw - neither system has it all right out of the box. Take off the fanboy hat and people might actually listen to you next time.

So you're saying that since the DirecTV HD PVR I got didn't come with an HDMI cable in the box it doesn't do HD? You should sue DirecTV for false advertising.

You can't take a 360 home and enjoy HD-DVD or Blu-Ray out of the box, but you can take one home and start gaming in HD or stream movies and TV shows in HD without buying anything extra.

It's always been a pet peeve of mine that Sony doesn't include any HD cables at all in their systems and then say things like 'Microsoft doesn't care about the HD customer.' I don't think you guys realize the amount of people out there that don't understand this stuff. There's likely millions of PS3's hooked up with composite cables because thats what came with the system and they didn't want to buy a $50 HDMI cable at the store. Not everyone knows that you can get cables for cheap online. I'd like to know how many PS3's are sold with uber-expensive hdmi cables in retail stores myself.

Not that I'm saying that because MS includes component/hdmi cables that they're going to be hooked up properly, but at least there's nothing extra to buy.

And as for DTV, I don't have it myself, but did it include component cables? Thats at least a step in the right direction and will provide a HD signal depending on wether or not HDCP is enforced on the box.

Microsoft always saw the use of the extra space, but they also saw that it was a LOT cheaper to use a DVD drive and just use multiple disks.

As I have said before, launching the 360 with Blu-ray instead of DVD would have been impossible. The tech was not ready for when they wanted to launch, its got close ties to Sony too so HD-DVD would have been the best they could hope for and that too was not ready either.

Microsoft would not have had the lead they have today if they had delayed the 360 to include a high-def disk format. They would also not have made a profit due to the extra costs manufacturing the console and the disks themselves. So quite frankly, they made the right choice.

However if the NEXT Xbox was still DVD I would think they were insane. But I would be pretty surprised if it was not Blu-ray or some other kind of high capacity disk.

Wow, I'm really not trying to be a troll here (something I have to say quite often when I'm speaking about a different console, and I truly mean no offense), but when they said that Forza 3 will have 400 cars with 10 times the polygon count as their Forza 2 counterparts, I was truly WOWED, and I don't even have a 360. But then I thought how they would fit such a high number onto a 10 GB disc. Will it be through something like mass compression or will Turn 10 have other tricks up their sleeve? But, here it is. I never thought it would come out to this, although, is it extra cars other than the "full" experience with 400 cars thus totalling it to 400+ cars?

But all the cars on Forza are customizable? I dunno about GT5. I do believe GT4 had 700 cars but not of them have crash physics so i guess i'd choose Forza because it's more realistic. But GRiD ftw!

I can only imagine they meant any game currently on the market. If so, it's not much competition is it? They are probably just talking about Burnout Paradise, GT: Prologue, and perhaps GT4.

Also, InFaMoUs1, is there some secret to beating Kessler during the mission The Truth? Everytime I try I get raped like a 14 year old girl visiting 4chan for the first time. Not a pretty sight.

Yes, because a company trying to sell their videogame isn't going to say it isn't the best there ever was, or will even admit another game may be better.

LOL, NO! I was a long time Gran Turismo fan but god damn it fuck a game if I'm gonna have to actually do license test to advance the game. Forza gives me the same experience I want out of Gran Turismo, minus the bullshit.

GT is more like those people that collect shiny toys just to show off while Forza is what real men want to do with their cars, and that's DRIVE. I'll be damned if I'm gonna spend days learning certain maneuvers to pass a license test, I do that shit in real life I don't need to do it again in a game.
