Yeh, its odd for me. I Played no 1, Then Chaos Theory a bit of double agent but not my thing then now this, its every even game just loses my focus...for this series. Assassins Creed 2, Mass Effect 2, Gears of War 2, Halo 2, CoD 4 all rock my socks off and theyre even (ive seen the future mannn, they WILL rock my socks off)

I'm the same way, for some reason I didn't care for the even numbered games in this series.

That's probably because Ubisoft Montreal did Splinter Cell 1 & Chaos Theory and Ubisoft Shanghai did Pandora Tomorrow & Double Agent. Not slamming Shanghai, but it's Montreal's baby.

true, i don't see where he finds time to shave. actually, he probably has some badass NSA shaving watch! Either way he did look rugged but i can't picture that sam doing the things he's doing in the demo, especially the interrogation sequence, he just wasn't that intimidating and bas-ass

I thought he was rocking the faces of meth look, and thus, looking awesome...
http://www.drugfree.org/Portal/DrugIssue/MethResources/faces/photo_9.html

... as for the game itself, the gameplay looked good to me. I realise most people enjoy the stealth aspect of... ahem... stealth games... but I like to be able to kill everything with extreme prejudice, without some magic alarm that will just fade screen to black and/or stop me progressing further if I make too much noise etc

Hence why I haven't played (or even kept up with) any of the splinter cell series other than 20 frustrating minutes playing the first one round a friend's house a long time ago.

"Have questions about what you saw at the Microsoft Press Briefing? Then you have to read this."

sorry Xav, your post just explains what you see in the video... doesn't answer any questions there might be about the game - not your fault, because more hasn't been shown yet.

You mean you didn't think "hmm...I wonder what Xav thinks of this game" in MS's press conference?

Kidding aside, I was curious what that white outline, ghost-like Sam Fisher thing was.

KUDOS to the developers for apparently really bringing the series forward. Do I see some "Hitman" in the formula? Let's hope that they manage to really make the story interesting this time. The stories in the first SC games was really laughably integrated into the game.

Can't wait to punch dudes and shove them into mirrors!

Grisly, not grizzly. Unless Fisher's daughter was murdered by a bear.

Anyway, this looks awesome. I do wish they'd find some way to completely remove the HUD, though. The presentation of the game, as it is, looks amazing, but I can't help but hope they go all-out with the immersion.

Spoiler revealed!

So, what was "the name" that Sam gets out of the guy he's interrogating? Smoky? Yogi?

Maybe it was Boo-Boo; the little squirt got tired of living in Yogi's shadow all these years, got sick of living off the scraps of picnic baskets (and hearing "picnic" pronounced with three syllables), and ripped his head off. Once he had a taste for blood, the ranger was next, and then came the bloodiest bear-related massacre in Jellystone history. It was an unfortunate coincidence that a certain Sarah Fisher happened to be camping in Jellystone with her boyfriend...

I don't like the sound of the tagging thing. Having a win-machine built in instead of balancing it properly and then limiting its use. Is there an in-game reason why Sam suddenly loses the ability to whip in a door and put a bullet into someone's face? It sounds like it will be pretty jarring to go through an immersive, cinematic game with projected thoughts and all that, then run out of lolsuperpowers uses. I guess I will have to hope for a demo so I can try it myself.

Maybe I'm not clear enough on how it recharges. After watching the video again, I can see the markers come back, but I'm not sure on why.

From what I've read you can only use it a certain number of times depending on the gun. For instance the pistol only allows you to tag two enemies. Also, I can see this being instant win for one or two enimes on screen, but if you're dealing with a room full of baddies, you would still be fucked since you'll give away your position.

I guess, like you said, we'll just have to wait for the demo to see if it pays off.

From what I understand, the execution move recharges once a melee kill is done, although I must admit I don't see the connection between both events...

Anyway, looks fucking awesome to me. I'm pretty sure the guys at Ubi will find a way to balance out this "autokill" move so it doesn't put the game on autopilot.

I said this in another post but I enjoyed the ghosting ability is just friggin amazing! I imagine playing Metal Gear Solid 3 would have been so much more engaging with that ability.

Being able to see where the enemy last saw you adds a whole new level of tactics to the stealth game genre.

I will most likely buy a 360 just to have this game. There's talk of it coming to the PS3 (timed exclusive on the 360) but I don't think I can wait that long. For the first in a long time I'm being pulled into buying a system for one game.

Well, that and Project Natal. Just for the ability to control a console Minority Report style is enough for me.

Anyone else think the projected objectives and stuff got old fast? At first I was like, hmm, this is neat, but might get old. And after seeing it 15 times by the end of the video, it was. Seems like something that's meant to be used maybe once every 10 minutes in TV shows for transitions (like the text in Fringe), not as a constant replacement for a static objective HUD.

Splinter Cell: Conviction is going to be the most bad@ss game in history. This is what a Jack Bauer/24 game should be like. Finally we get a game with sick cqc disarms, "yo homie is that my briefcase"-Collateral style takedowns, and crazy stealth infiltration.
