Mass Effect DLC to be announced soon

Previously, it was suggested that the next Mass Effect DLC would include some sort of fight club or arena setup. So, lots of shooting in preparation for some real shooting, then.

FINALLY - it'll make my 500,000th playthrough a bit different.
Kibbles @ Jun 4th 2009 9:32PM
Hurrah! Hopefully that means some more lovely voicework from Jennifer Hale as well. :)
Vcize @ Jun 4th 2009 11:40PM
So I finally did a playthrough as a chick, and I'm really not seeing what all the hype is about with the female Shepard being so much better voiced.
mathemagical @ Jun 5th 2009 12:23PM
I like the voice of the male Shepard much better. But when making such varied character those voices don't always line up all the time.
Swagman @ Jun 5th 2009 1:38PM
This is where the guys at Volition Studios got this so right with Saints Row 2. They recorded every line of dialog in the game (even the singing parts with the radio) for the main character, with SIX separate voice actors (3 female and 3 male), so that when players built their customizable characters, it would be easier to pick a voice that matched the character they created. It was actually pretty awesome, and hopefully more game studios will follow Volition's lead on this with games where you create your own characters.
Also of note with Saints Row 2 character customization, is that it pretty much blows away every other character customization tool that I have ever seen in a game, by a very, very long mile. Microsoft and Sony go on about their avatar systems on the NXE and in Home, but neither of those even hold a candle to what Volition did with Saints Row 2. And the best part it, Saints Row 2 even has a 'plastic surgeon' in the game that you can go to and re-customize your character at will. So I started off the game with a character that looked a lot like the real me (something I have not been able to do with any game or avatar system before), then I saw the guy on YouTube who made his SR2 character look like Heath Ledger's Joker, from The Dark Knight, and so I got inspired. Went to the SR2 plastic surgeon, and changed my character (complete with clothing options to match) to look like Angelina Jolie's Lara Croft. Played around with that for a while, then changed my character again to look like Carmen Sandiego. Got bored with that, so I changed it to Waldo from Where's Waldo (yes, sex changes are possible at SR2's plastic surgeon). Got bored with that and changed it to Cameron, from Sarah Connor Chronicles. Got tired of that and changed it to and changed it to Barrack Obama. And so long as I could find the clothes (unlockable or purchased at any of the in-game clothing stores) in-game to fit the face and body I created on the character, it was always a spot-on match for the person I was trying to imitate. It's an amazing character creation system. They even have over 30 postures for how your character moves when he/she is standing, walking or running.
Saints Row 2's character editor is so damned good, that it should be the baseline character creation tool for every game that requires you to build your own in-game avatar. BioWare will do well if they update the Mass Effect character customization engine to the new high level set by Volition with Saints Row 2. Matter of fact, the only tool that I have even seen that allows more customization, is the one Realtime Worlds is using in the upcoming APB - it's like the Saints Row 2 customizer on steroids. I kept the game forever because they said they were planning like 4 or 5 pieces of DLC before the 2nd game came out. Fast forward to about 3 weeks ago, and still not even a shred of news of more DLC so I decide to trade it in.
Figures they have more DLC coming now :\
Wes @ Jun 4th 2009 9:56PM
So YOUR the reason there was no dlc. What took you so long to trade it in? Geesh, doesn't the rest of the universe benefiting from you getting screwed mean anything to you?
Mazrael @ Jun 4th 2009 9:43PM
'Bout fricking time, B.. y'know you got 700pts to use up now, eh, hint hint
finnith @ Jun 4th 2009 9:53PM
Damnit, I just realized that I dont' have a Pre-endgame save :(
Neogeek2734 @ Jun 4th 2009 9:53PM
Just finished beating this game again this morning, it was the first time i managed to do every possible quest available. 'Bringing Down the Sky' was dece but i've been hungering for more. Hopefully this will hold me off until ME2 which currently has me anxious as hell.
Premature ejaculation man @ Jun 4th 2009 10:01PM
They could also offer some DLC that links between the two..But I doubt their ability considering their track record.
The Dark Wayne @ Jun 5th 2009 1:03AM
actually in OXM, that's exactly what casey hudson said it would be
eddy96 @ Jun 4th 2009 11:03PM
awesome and i just reinstalled the game
Cosmo @ Jun 4th 2009 10:15PM
Has it been announced for the PC version?
JzzZZzz @ Jun 4th 2009 11:09PM
I still need one more playthrough to 100% the game, so cool.
Sgt_Quackers @ Jun 5th 2009 12:44AM
YES!!! I recently re bought this game because i was hoping there would be more dlc
LegendaryRedass @ Jun 5th 2009 2:10AM
I've been waiting so long for new dlc so I could have something fresh on my insanity playthrough. Bring it on you alien sons of bitches!
kingheff1 @ Jun 5th 2009 3:43AM
I hope it's a bit more substantial than Bring down the sky, which consisted of little more than one subquest, though it was free so I guess I can't complain too much but it was a little under-whelming.
Jez @ Jun 5th 2009 5:02AM
How did you get it for free? I paid 400 Microsoft Points
joe_chameleon @ Jun 6th 2009 10:21AM
was free with the computer version
Gamertag: GOPAL892005 @ Jun 5th 2009 7:28AM
He must be talking about the PC version.
kingheff1 @ Jun 5th 2009 9:00AM
Yep, pc version, which had a few other differences I believe, though I never played the 360 version so I'm not sure what they are.
CannabisPrime @ Jun 5th 2009 10:31AM
It's also free if you get the Platinum Hits version for the 360.
That's how I got it.
Alex @ Jun 5th 2009 6:49PM
The Knothole Island DLC for Fable 2 was basically just one side mission too. What a waste of 800 Points.
Cr4sh Dummy @ Jun 5th 2009 4:11AM
I hope it expands on Bringing Down the Sky, I want to shoot some more Batarian terrorists!
Radeus @ Jun 5th 2009 9:38AM
Got to say, if you make someone refer to you as Dr., it's emblematic of an inflated sense of self worth. I have a doctorate, but I prefer the title "enlightened one."
Prophetic @ Jun 5th 2009 4:05PM
You should clarify that you're talking about PhDs. At least, that's what I hope you meant.
I'm working on my DDS right now, and you can bet your ass my patients will call me "doctor."
Dr. Gregory Holmes @ Jun 6th 2009 5:32PM
Oh.. these kids...
dogmaticatheist @ Jun 5th 2009 12:27PM
I hope it's not an arena DLC. I'd like something with a story behind it.
Dr. Gregory Holmes @ Jun 6th 2009 5:31PM
the last 2 DLC's weren't that story filled. Just repetitive missions
Benny @ Jun 5th 2009 5:16PM
Too little too frikkin late - loved this game waaay back when, and I was behind the game on playing ME1, enjoyed add on 1 and would have played add on 2 had it existed.
Bad idea in my opinion to raise awareness for your sequel by supporting your 1st game 2 years after the fact.
