The Overlord II demo is now available on Xbox 360 for your mayhem enjoying approval. We got some hands-on time with the title yesterday and fans of the original will likely not be disappointed. We're not exactly able to download the demo at the moment and tell you about it, but we're hoping you get to see the "Overlad." Evil never looked so adorable. Download it now. If you hated the first game, try this demo and see if the Overlord can warm your heart with a flame spell this time around.

I enjoyed the first Overlord for a couple of hours and then I remember getting lost or something and losing interest. Still it was a cool enough concept that I'll check out the sequel (though the chances of me paying full price at release are pretty limited.)

Yeah...I got to the elf land I think, then I realised that managing your minions became too much of a clusterfuck for the clunky 360 controls and the method of minion-steamroll became more and more obsolete as the brown ones were the only that weren't made from paper-mache and didn't die in five seconds...
So yeah, if they streamlined the controls, I'll give it a shot.

As cool as it was to have a pack of expendable idiots to throw away on a whim, the trouble I had with the first game was the total lack of any sort of self-preservation the minions had. It was never really clear when a bunch of minions were going to charge into a puddle to die. Fighting anything on the ground was fine, using minions to remove the poison or fire hazards was fine-ish (maybe a third as touchy as water), but I think every session was punctuated with minions running to their deaths trying to kill a dodo or some enemy just randomly mowing through them. It felt too much like an escort mission.

The first one was easy to control, they show you how to make them attack and not attack and everything.
