Just kidding, but seriously, you're going to give up a chance to play what looks like a great game just because it's $20+ and you can't resell? Your loss, I guess. :\

It looks like a really cool game , I don't see how $20 is askin' too much for it .

Yes cause buying a 60 dollar game and trading it in for 10 bucks is a bargain...

Are there any other Xbox Live Arcade games that cost more than $20?

Penny arcade was $20 iirc. Pretty sure they dropped the price now, though.

Hmm. Epics already proven they'll buckle under fan pressure with All Fronts, I don't see how this'll be any different.
This looked neat, it ain't $20 neat though.

At that price Ejab, Shadow Complex is going to have to prove to me it is the best game available on Arcade. Better than Street Fighter II Turbo, Castle Crashers, Braid, and many many more.
If it truly is that great, i'll get it. But I don't see any reason to believe it's going to be that amazing. As you said, it's like Metroid. I've already played and still own Super Metroid.

That doesn't sound so bad. I mean I paid 30 bucks just last year for Castlevania Order of Ecclesia and that wasn't longer than 7 hours.
I think people get up in arms waaaaay to much over the price of some of the XBLA titles. It's all about how much enjoyment you get out of the game. Heck you can beat Super Mario 3 in one sitting, but that doesn't mean it's not infinitely fun and engaging.
I mean you never hear people complain about the price of DS and PSP games. And let me tell you, there are HUNDREDS of games on those systems that last literally 2-4 hours and the charge you full price.

While I agree with you that some DS/PSP games are overpriced for the length of the experience, the difference here is that you're not getting any sort of tangible disc.

I agree with the previous poster, I will not pay more than $15 for something that I can not sell later on.

@ All - Castle Crashers is $15US, just passed 900,000 like a month ago, and is the second most popular overall XBLA game.

In other words... Shadow Complex won't have any problems at this price point. Especially if it is a 10+ hour adventure.
Hopefully they have some sort of presence at retail though. I'm sure a lot of people would be willing to pay $20+ for a tangible product, even if it were just a download code.

Castle Crashers is also a 4 player co-op game and this is not. It won't see sales numbers that high.

So I can get a downloadable game like Gears or Halo or Fable or Mass Effect, or Shadow Complex? Hmmm...

Really, did anyone expect differently. This game falls in a whole new category of games. It's game play length and polish are expected to be up to par with a retail disk release, but it's price is expected to fall in the range of something like Geometry Wars. In reality this game is a great little project from Epic, that may have been too small a concept for a retail game, but deserved to be made anyways. I for one am willing to pay up to $30 for something like this. I would love for this to be a new trend, where big studios can publish risky new ideas (How many new metroidvania IPs have there been) and not risk huge amounts of money on Publishing deals etc.

If you do not buy this game for $20, then expect an annoucement where "The Hidden Fronts" Pack returns to the $20 mark and will only be available via code box at retail from Epic shortly thereafter.
Wow, for a week that started out so well, it certainly turned into a corporate milking fest by today. No really, after this week, is there ANY GAME COMPANY on Earth right now that is not trying to rape the customer base for cash? Even Valve went down this path this week, annoucing L4D2, the sequel to the award winning L4DBeta.
GFWL - My pile of shame stack is pretty high, and I see no reason at this time to buy ANYTHING we saw at E3 - like most of it would be actually be available in 2009 anyway...

I am extremely, extremely disappointed by this news. I refuse to buy anything from the arcade for $20 or more, especially after I used the wrong credit card and ended up getting Castle Crashers for $40-50. Oh well, I'll probably be grabbing Cell Factor on the arcade soon, a game that seems to be a steal at only $10.

If this were a retail disc game, and it was 30 dollars, bet few would be complaining. The game looks cool... 20 dollars worth of cool. Of course, I won't be able to tell for sure until it comes out, but since it's an XBLA game, I'll have a free demo to enjoy anyway.

If they broke this up into three games, released them individually for $10US over the course of 6 months... The only people who would be moaning here are the same trolls who always whine when a digital game comes out over the $0.00 price-point.
