20 seems just about right for this game. Its not a retooling of a classic or a quick port from an other older system. If the game had been 5 or 6 hrs (as they say it isn't) then it would be a problem but it seems to me like a complete game. Passes the stink test on price for now. Lets see what it is once it actually becomes purchasable on Live. BTW any word on bigger hard drives yet? Can't seem to find any word on it.

Ok, this has got to stop. Time to inject some rational thought into the room. Everyone remember Dead Space? That 10-15 hour game nobody had a problem paying $60 for? Now you're complaining that another 10-15 hour game will cost you no less than $20?
Yeah, that seems logical to me.
The average game consumer's idea of value blows my mind completely. It's not based on quality, or even quantity at this point, but rather a small amount of each with a heavy dose of "is it an unlock code" and "does it come on a disk or not."
It's a game. It has pretty good graphics. The action looks fun. It has achievements. It is 10-15 hours. What makes it a bad value at $20?
Someone please tell me.
If this doesn't ever hit the PC on Steam or something, it might be my breaking point. Might have to buy a 360.

3 reasons:
Dead Space came on a disc in a box and I can swap it with my friends
I waited and paid $20 for Dead Space - this will most likely be $20 forever except for the one week $5 discount
I don't have much faith that this game will be around 10 years from now based on its digital nature and the XBLA DRM, but every other physical game I own (all the way back to the NES) will.
Notice how they say it won't be less than $20? Everyone is assuming it will be $20. I'm interested to know how much it will really be.
In any case, I will buy this game most likely. Just providing some counter-points.

Actually, I had a problem with it. Loved Dead Space to death, but I still only rented it. My mates had the same problem. All either rented or bought it under $40 because they felt anymore than that wasn't justifiable. Same goes for L4D. I waited until it was $40 and bought it. Some games just ain't worth that $60.
However, $15-20 looks reasonable enough to me to buy. Hell I bought portal and flock on xbla for $15 because they looked fun. Same goes for this.

lol oops! I forgot to check with tabicat before I posted that. He didn't buy Dead Space, so my entire point is moot.
Although I want to reduce myself to expletives while responding to your nonsense, I'll just settle for explaining why you are wrong. Dead Space was very popular with gamers and critics alike. It didn't have the world's best sales, but it didn't do too shabby for a new IP during a time of many releases. The game took me around 12 hours to finish. Many people bought it at $40 or so from what I have heard. From that logic, if this game is good, it should be worth more than ten bucks.
I actually do realize everyone's beef with the nature of downloads in general, and I agree. I always prefer to have physical media. That's why I rarely buy things on Steam and eBay them instead. However, I was talking more about $10 vs $20.
On a tangent, I also agree that I thought Dead Space was a little short, as are most games this gen. I think it just goes along with the higher development costs and time. They are pumping games out at the same rate as before, only now, they can only make so much content within their budgets and release windows. Doesn't mean it's a good thing, but I do believe there's a reason for it.

some of you are really cheap.. this game isn't worth $20?? you're probably the same geniuses who bought Terminator Salvation for $60, and are keeping the Wii in business buy loading up on shovelware.
just because it comes in a box doesnt mean it's good.
$20 is an easy sell for me

Yeah that is waaay too expensive for a game like that. Good old Microsoft, slowly raising the standard price of xbla games. I remember when charging $20 for a xbla game would have been the most absurd thing you could do.

Over 20 bucks for a XBLA game? I fucking lol'd.

Question - If they had been talking about this game and planning on it going to retail like a standard release, would the $20+ price be an issue for everyone? Does this being a download influence people?
Just wondering, because for me, I'm okay with paying $30 for this game. It seems like a fully fleshed out, polished, and lenghty game that can stand with every other game on the shelves at the store.

Yes and yes. If this game is a good as it sounds, then I'll want to play it 10 years from now like I still play my NES/SNES/N64/PS1/etc. games. But I don't have a lot of faith in the DRMed nature of their digital downloads.

I really don't understand the complaints against this. 800 points was a great price for those smaller XBLA games we used to see regularly, and I agree that there's been a few occasions where they've clearly raised the price of a game because they think they can make more money..
But games like Castle Crashers and Braid, etc have been brilliant and well worth the money, and I like the idea of getting longer, and higher quality XBLA games, even if that means paying more then $10.
Look at the new Monkey Island for example that's $35, but it doesn't matter because it's a downloadable PC release? If the game is worth $20, then it's worth $20 (and it looks like it will be).
But I'm not sure why so many people are so adamant that an XBLA game can't cost more than $10 without being a rip off.

I think it is because they are used to the cheap prices of the XBLA games

I completely agree with you Snowblind. It's probably two things: 1, people are used to games that are, more like arcade games. Geometry Wars, Super Stardust HD, etc. And 2, the pricing trend has been $10 on average. Thing is, people find it hard to believe that just because it's on XBLA, it doesn't have to be a game of the same length and quality as the other average $10 game. I wouldn't pay $20 for Geometry Wars, but just because Geometry Wars costs $10, I'm not going to dismiss any other XBLA title if it costs a little more.

It is a capital mistake to theorize before you have all the evidence. It biases the judgment.

Unlike most retail-length games nowdays that fucking suck, I would willingly pay $50 for this.

If they make it into a physical media then its worth it, if its digital it should be below 20, and more if its plaged with DRM like xbla

EPIC sure has come a long way since the days when they fought to keep DLC for the original Gears Of War free. Since then I've probably shelled out enough money to buy 1.5 more full price games.
*sigh*
*sigh*

Epic can suck my nuts... The only reason I spend $60 on a retail game is because I can trade it in for $20-$30. After the shitfest and gouging that was Gears 2 I am not spending $20 for this. Cliffy B can go to Hell ASAP I have no respect for Epic at this point. Which is sad because I was really interested in the game...

Only problem I have with this game is that it is single player and won't be available for rental... (because 10 hours is easily fit-able into a 168 hour week)
Looks like a great game.

Nothing that's download only is worth $20. No media means no trade in/borrow value. Plus, what happens if Xbox Live is down and you're on your 3rd 360? I say boycott the whole digital distribution thing until they get the hint.

Boo! I was looking forward to this... $15 max is all I would EVER pay for Downloadable Games or DLC... sorry. $10 is more like it. I'll have to wait for a price drop like I am with Castle Crashers... peace out Cliffy B.

I'll more than happy to spend $20 on this game...... ....if it came in retail packaging. Ok fine retail is more expensive...$25 - $30 then. My point however is not in the resell or trade of the game but more about building my collection. I prefer physical media that's all. :)

What else would we expect from CliffyB and his gang of money-loving whores...
I mean they worked "hard" on countless expensive map packs for Gears 2 and the free updates for the game were merely a side project.
No thanks EPIC, never will I support you. NEVER.
