Video: Jak & Daxter travel to the Lost Frontier
Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier looks like a standard Jak title with some added flying game mechanics. Check out the vid and see it in action. Maybe you'll want to brush up on those piloting skills.

I never played Jax & Daxter so I hope this game isn't that confusing when I play it and get into the story.
I'm a Ratchet and Clank nut.

Another thing I don't see why so many hardcore Jax & Daxter fans are pissed that Naughty Dog isn't making the game. They should be happy that the franchise is even back and I'm sure the game will be just as good as previous versions and extremely polished and well made.
chuuchdizzle @ Jun 4th 2009 7:29AM
that's because it's changing a recipe in the formula, the game's are great(2 is my fave) but there's always the chance of a messup with another studio, not to mention naughty dog makes good games in general
deaftly @ Jun 4th 2009 10:48AM
For the PS fanboy you come off as, thats pretty sad you've never played a Jak game.
arrness @ Jun 4th 2009 2:15AM
ive never played jak and daxter either, but if its anything like daxter im in.
Cosmo @ Jun 4th 2009 2:19AM
Damn, I'm waiting for an HD Jak and Daxter on the PS3! But I guess Naughty Dog is now busy with Uncharted. Damn.... : (
Codex @ Jun 4th 2009 5:27PM
we can dream :
CGamble20 @ Jun 6th 2009 3:34AM
Naughty Dog doesn't make Jak and Daxter games anymore. I dunno why everyone still thinks this...
They sold crash to make Jak and Dax, now they sold jak and dax to make uncharted. Probably will sell uncharted to make some sort of even more awesome saga of games.
Thats just naughty dog for ya. You get three games and a cart racer, then let the franchise die and buy the new one.
Deaddy @ Jun 4th 2009 2:40AM
I'll get the PS2 version if anything, it's sure to have superior controls. I don't like all the flight footage, though.
Ryan Hamilton @ Jun 4th 2009 3:48AM
This series started off as such an awesome platformer, but has slowly turned into Ratchet and clank rip with guns.
The Dark Wayne @ Jun 4th 2009 4:21AM
"with guns" what? are you implying ratchet and clank doesnt have guns? Either way it isn't, ratchet is divided into levels and more focused on platforming and upgrading stuff while Jak is more open world style. Not really similar at all
spyker @ Jun 4th 2009 7:47AM
No, he's saying that because Jak didn't start out with guns. Jak 1 was an epic platformer.
The Dark Wayne @ Jun 4th 2009 4:19AM
shiiiiiiiiiiit fuck yes! Jak and Daxter was my favorite game series on the PS2 and one of my favorite ever! cant wait!
Einlander0 @ Jun 4th 2009 4:23AM
Skies of Arcadia says hi (^_^)/
Ryan Hamilton @ Jun 4th 2009 4:24AM
No I'm saying Jak and daxter wasn't about gunplay. It was just a fun platformer, where you punched enemies. now it's all about gun weapons and explosions.
CGamble20 @ Jun 6th 2009 3:36AM
If you think about it only the original was without guns. Thats like saying that mario was really just about trying to save the princess from Donkey Kong, and avoiding barrels. WTF that wouldn't make sense that was only the original arcade version.
Same deal here.

Watch out for the transition from ugly to sexy at the end of the clip.

watch from the transition from 3 second load time to 2 minutes of agonizing waiting once the game rolls out. we'll see how ugly the psp go! will be when the digital version of JnD loads 2000% faster then the "sexy" psp :p
Ashitaka @ Jun 4th 2009 2:31PM
If you're gonna milk a franchise, at least milk it right on the PS3 with HD graphics!

Oooh I am totally picking this up! been waiting for a new Jak & Daxter for ages. I loved the first one, the second game was satisfying but hard to beat, and the third was spectacular! The Jak X racing game wasn't half bad either though I never finished it... and Daxter on the psp was pretty entertaining. So yeah... I think I'll get this on the psp though so when I get the go! I can have component output... (I've had a 1000 for a long time now and barely held off buying a 2k/3k with their component/composite outputs. I just believe that the Go! will be more awesome for some odd reason maybe because its newer.)
cafecito @ Jun 4th 2009 2:53PM
The in-game footage seems heavily reliant on camera movement, which is usually mapped to the second analog stick. I wonder how they'll deal with that on the PSP. Shoulder buttons?
E @ Jun 4th 2009 4:40PM
Loved the 1st Jak & Daxter game and while the second was good, didn't like the whole emo edge they tried to give it. This game should be awesome though. As far as a PS2 release, if Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters and Secret Agent Clank are any proof, the port of this PSP game is going to suck as well.
PX @ Jun 4th 2009 6:41PM
tight!
Lookhappy @ Jun 5th 2009 7:02AM
Surely where start/select buttons are is a perfect place for a second anologue stick - and shift the start and select buttons up and centred?
Seems a missed opportunity - just imagine all the camera control we could have!!!
Ahh how I love my second anologue sticks - they make camera control so much fun
