Bethesda has designed iPhone versions of Fallout 3

"I think that the world of Fallout is unique enough that it could work on any platform. I think some of the things we do like VATS, I think that could translate to any platform, particularly the iPhone," Todd Howard told us yesterday. "We've looked into those things, we just haven't found the thing that supports the brand well. I wouldn't be surprised if it does happen one day. The iPhone versions that we've designed and said 'Ehh, we don't think we're going to do that right now,' there are ... there are a lot of them."
Could we maybe just have one?

Fallout and Fallout 2 are already set up perfectly to function on the iPhone. Just make Fallout 3 a 3/4 2D game like the first two.
NaeemTHM @ Jun 5th 2009 3:28PM
Or at the very least port the first two games. I mean the iPhone is perfect for point and click adventures. If they try to turn it into some kind of FPS it will fail HARD.

Or a Baldur's Gate I or II for that matter! The very prospect of that makes me TOO happy.

so the iphone gets fallout 3 but the wii doesn't? haha wow, bethesda.
NaeemTHM @ Jun 5th 2009 3:24PM
Well to be fair the iPhone is like 4 Gamecubes duct taped together.

Dude....you gotta stop looking at the install base, brah. This generation is all about creative freedom
Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC) @ Jun 5th 2009 4:18PM
Funny I thought the Iphone was a Blackberry and an Ipod touch duck taped together.
smcn @ Jun 5th 2009 5:26PM
Funny, I don't see anything in that quote that indicates that Fallout is coming to iPhone. The closest thing would be this: "I wouldn't be surprised if it does happen one day." It's vague and lends itself more to the probability that it will never happen.
Saria the Cat @ Jun 5th 2009 7:29PM
@Naeem: That's TWO whole Wiis!
...Oh man, I'm going to regret partaking in this.
LegendaryRedass @ Jun 5th 2009 8:44PM
I vote you up Naeem.
Danthok @ Jun 5th 2009 3:23PM
I don't understand how all these iPhone ports are even plausible, or are people just willing to buy anything with a specific title.
I mean the iPhone is perfect for say Peggle, or even Plants vs. Zombies but Fallout 3 come on have a little dignity Bethesda.

Read reply #1. Point and click adventures would work perfectly. I'm mainly worried about the amount of space a game like this would take up. I'm already constantly scaling back my music collection just to make room for all the apps I download.
Storm Eagle @ Jun 5th 2009 3:27PM
Can't they just make a Pipboy program and call it a day? I'd accept that.
baby sea tuna @ Jun 5th 2009 3:34PM
That was the first thing I thought of as well. And maybe release some sort of arm gauntlet that it snaps into for ubernerds.
Mu93n @ Jun 5th 2009 3:35PM
word
Ezio Auditore de Firenze [PSN SniperChameleon] @ Jun 5th 2009 4:08PM
i would accept that happily.
Avada Kadavra 9 @ Jun 5th 2009 4:12PM
Hate apple.

Thank you for that insightful commentary on this game. May we all subscribe to the newsletter.
This has nothing to do with Apple. I for one would like to see a game released.
NaeemTHM @ Jun 5th 2009 4:27PM
Harry Potter is for babies.
See how baseless that comment was?
Avada Kadavra 9 @ Jun 5th 2009 5:01PM
I still hate apple. SAD
Avada Kadavra 9 @ Jun 5th 2009 5:03PM
Hate is strong, I dislike them and their products.
Jeffrey Abt @ Jun 5th 2009 4:24PM
They're actually going to make the iPhone Fallout an on-rails shooter. It's going to be exciting.
Optimaximal @ Jun 7th 2009 6:17PM
Lets hope they accurately capture the walking between locations gameplay...
fallout3isthebestgameever @ Jun 5th 2009 5:04PM
They need to combine elements of fallout 3 and metal slug for this to work. I should be able to either download my fallout 3 character from my pc, or have a large amount of character customization, and embark on an epic action side scroller, with RPG like character progression. In fact this should have had already happened a few weeks ago.
dt567 @ Jun 6th 2009 12:51AM
Yeah because the Fallout titles need to be more linear than Bethesda has already made them.
Jeremy White @ Jun 5th 2009 7:10PM
I would like to see Fallout 1 and 2 on iPhone. That would be some piece of epic.
