Endless Ocean 2 trailer: More endless than ever
So here's the thing -- we're not absolutely sure there weren't crocodiles in the first Endless Ocean, due to it's, ya know, endlessness, but we don't recall any swamps or bayous in the game. If you spent the requisite forever with former of the series, let us know what new stuff you spot in the trailer.

I loved the first game and this one looks even better. I can't wait to play it.
Nook @ Jun 6th 2009 5:55PM
with you 100%, loved the first game and this is a done deal for me sale wise.
the only gripe i had with the first was the online, my two friends in my roster were from different parts of the world....hence we never got to dive together, i hope they go worldwide for this one. prolly won't though :(

DANGER.
I dunno, ocean's always freaked me out, so seeing that the animals can now attack you is kind of frightening.
Von Dozier @ Jun 6th 2009 4:57PM
This.
The first Endless Ocean was eerie enough being around all these huge crazy-ass sea life, but now that they can attack? Ugghh.
vidGuy @ Jun 6th 2009 4:59PM
Every since the Sonic games I've had a phobia of underwater levels in video games. I think it was that scary music that sped up as you neared drowning. At least here you have scuba gear, but it's odd that something so slow could still be frightening.
sicsided @ Jun 6th 2009 5:13PM
Its the perfect setting for survival horror.
Human avatars have not adapted as well compared to the inhabitants, in terms of life necessity - air, movement, and ways of detection - sight. That, and its a huge ass body of water, and we are merely peas compared to the giants that live in there. So basically you can't see anything til 15 feet in front of you, it can corner you in to one area (the surface), and fighting is basically useless.
I too have a phobia of large bodies of water, and scuba games.

Oh man, that purple water in Chemical Plant from Sonic 2 has made me perpetually afraid of water in video games. When I was a kid I seriously had to have my mom play the water levels in Mario 64 because I just couldn't handle it.
But yeah, I was always interested in the first game, but no one else I knew had it so I never bothered. With Wii Speak support I'd probably be able to convince someone else to buy it to play online with, and if they kept in the ability to play music from your SD card then I am so in.

Yeah, they freak me out too. D:
chriscanberg @ Jun 6th 2009 6:48PM
See for me, I was absolutely freaked by the eel from Super Mario 64. Like I had to have my brother do those for me or I never finished the stage. And ryan that link just scared me to death.
James @ Jun 6th 2009 6:52PM
remember when the super huge shark would snap at you when you petted it in the first one?
GRT @ Jun 6th 2009 7:55PM
My girlfriend played the hell out of the first game but when I showed her the trailer she immediately expressed dismay that the sharks could now attack you. She loved the idea that she could go anywhere and not worry about taking damage.
Dan @ Jun 8th 2009 9:09PM
@Chriscanberg Don't worry about Ryan's picture, it's just a Dolphin, look at the Dorsal fin shape, not shark shaped, dolphin shaped.
Roto13 @ Jun 6th 2009 5:12PM
You know what really kills the mood even more than being eaten by a shark? Ads in videos.
BigD145 @ Jun 6th 2009 5:17PM
Be careful. You may give game companies ideas for billboards attached to whales.
giantenemycrab @ Jun 6th 2009 5:25PM
This is a game that would GREATLY benefit from being in HD.
DiscoShark @ Jun 7th 2009 4:43AM
Salt in the wounds my friend, salt in the wounds...
PojoMofo @ Jun 7th 2009 9:02AM
Is there any Wii game you cant say this about?? I mean Ready 2 Rumble Revolution would have at least a 38 or 39 on Metacritic if it were in HD
james @ Jun 6th 2009 7:16PM
ya i would love this game if it were in mind blowing detail and hd.
guess i'll wait for WiiHD2
PedoJokerBear (aka Deeznuts) @ Jun 6th 2009 7:42PM
Horny manatees confirmed?!?
Babel @ Jun 7th 2009 11:15AM
Haha, your name, avatar and comment all fit perfectly into one horrifically creepy/hilarious package.
DBuck_Eye @ Jun 6th 2009 8:55PM
Wow, beautiful. This is just as close to art as a game can geGOT A CAREER GAME PLAN?
Kenji @ Jun 6th 2009 9:20PM
I was really disappointed with the first Endless Ocean. I thought it would be like the PS2's Everblue 2, which I had a blast with. But they took away the missions, the NPCs, the inventory management... everything I liked about EB2. What was left was just... boring, IMHO.
I hope EO2 is a move back to what the series can be.
WREturns @ Jun 6th 2009 11:09PM
Why isn't this subtitled, "Endlesser"?
tfdwyer @ Jun 7th 2009 10:04AM
New stuff:
- surface ice
- rivers
- river otters
- avoiding dangerous creatures (the 1st game didn't have this)
- sonar for finding artifacts
- looks like they have some item for curing animals in this one?
I just hope they do away with the really small diving radius. It made the ocean seems, not so endless.
madhat @ Jun 7th 2009 10:25AM
I spent a few hours with the first one and it was kinda boring actually. But I'm not at all sorry, I played it. I'm a sucker for a unique gameplay idea. If you haven't tried it you should do so.
rodjoh @ Jun 7th 2009 3:12PM
I usually try to stay away from underwater levels in games, so a game dedicated to swimming underwater doesn't seem like my thing at all. But I admit that sharks and crocodile's attackin you seems intense. Reminds me of Resident Evil, where the lame "tank type" controls added to the whole PANIC feel when u encountered a zombie in a dangerous place.
MRLN @ Jun 7th 2009 7:43PM
I really like the concept of Endless Ocean, but it could have used more "hidden passageway" kind of exploration. It looks like this game may solve this issue!
Feba @ Jun 8th 2009 8:24AM
This looks more "Game"-y than the first.
Although I must say, I'm getting much more of a Zelda/SOTC vibe; that you're exploring a huge world. Of course, that's hard to see in a trailer.
Gabriel @ Aug 25th 2009 10:19AM
It looks like the air meter will actually go down at a reasonable rate this time around. In Endless Ocean, it was simply not feasable that someone would run out of air. It probably lasted more than an hour. In this video we see the diver with even a half tank of air. If you pay attention, it looks like the air suddenly drops one box if you get attacked by a dangerous animal. Like in real life, scuba diving whiled distressed causes you to breath more and use more oxygen, limiting your time underwater.
