That's reassuring, considering the only other version for this is a PSP version (maybe ps2, don't know if it's coming for that).

It's like a secret brotherhood, that everyone should be apart of.

I can't wait for this game--I'll definitely be buying the PSP version (on UMD hopefully. No PSP Go! For me, unless there's a painless way to get digital copies of my UMD's).

Anyway I like the gameplay tweaks they've implemented in this-especially the way the game tracks what you look at, for how long, etc. The only aspect I'm not sold on is the focus on running away. While "OH FUCK FUCK FUCK GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE RUN MOTHERFUCKER RUN!" has always been an important part of Silent Hill, I'm afraid Shattered Memories focuses too much on fleeing. I just hope they don't follow in Silent Hill 5's footsteps where monsters will follow you forever. The first half of that game was so ridiculously difficult I almost gave up--then, inexplicably, it got easier once you actually left Shephard's Glen and got to Silent Hill, and the game became a lot more fun. 5's story made it worth it, though, in the end.

Anyway, can't wait for Shattered Memories. I do love me some Silent Hill.

Yes, I'm sure every single Redbook Mom is gonna eat this game up with a spoon. Child abuse which is not limited to just burning a little girl alive, nurses with blood pouring out of every hole in their body, all the other Silent Hill fun, that just SCREAMS casual gamer!

So, did you read the post? Signs point to no. :)

The whole point they were making was that lots of people watch horror/thriller films and don't play games. In other words the 'casual' market isn't limited to parents with kid and old people's homes - there's a need for 'casual' simple-to-play games in all genres.

I'm sure this is true but I doubt they will be able to successfully market to this group. Maybe there will be people who bought Wii for their kids and don't play it except with them, who would think about picking up this kind of game to play themselves after the kids' bedtime... but I don't really see it as all that likely... still who knows.

Regardless of who they manage to sell it to, the game sounds awesome. I really hope it turns out as good as it looks so far. And most importantly... it's not a rail shooter. Kind of depressing that this is a surprise, but...

The funny thing is that it seems like as games advance, they get a lot more strict on the Horror aspect.

As far as I've heard, back when Splatterhouse came out, there wasn't even a rating system. Nowadays you're lucky if your Horror game would come out (in Australia especially it seems), due to some peeking the M rating.

Yet it seems like back when Silent Hill came out, they were given Hell about those little Child-like demon monsters getting into the game. In a magazine article, it said they had to keep making changes to it's design, though it listed a design being the final choice, though it seemed like the original is what got in the game for some reason.

Later down the road though, it seems they're back without any issues (unless they were in any of the other Silent Hill games too. I wanted to play them but I lack a PS2 and a decent Graphics Card in my PC). Rejoice!

Yes, I'd love to sit down and watch my mother answer questions like:

"Do you roleplay during sex?" & "Do you think of other people during sex?"

Good times with the family...

This game sounds pretty good, but I do have my doubts. And I don't know what people have against Silent Hill 4, but in my opinion, that was the best in the entire franchise.

I thought it was the most repetitive and tedious of them all. I thought the way they worked in the FPS elements, and all the other stuff that happened within the apartment was genius, really loved that part.

However I recall thinking thinking the last half of the game was an absolute bore with having to go back through a bunch of the same levels, and I couldn't wait to be done with it.

Usually I don't really like it when I go back through the whole game again, but the way they pulled it off in SH4 was pretty good in my opinion. Seeing, then being chased by the ghosts was frightening as hell.

It's hard with Silent Hill. If it isn't some random, crappy horror game that had the Silent Hill logo slapped onto it in late development (SH4), it is some kind of garbage (Origins) or inconsistent (SH5).

After the magical girl unlockable in SH3, I'm not sure if they even care about this series anymore and are just dumping out junk to see how far they can go before everyone forgets about SH and SH2.

Silent Hill 3 was a great game. Who cares about some bonus mode after you beat it? It was there for fun and you apparently HATE fun. The Room was pretty weak but this looks amazing and Silent Hill V was pretty good.

Compared to other Silent Hill games, yes it was. On it's own, it was great. Resident Evil 4 syndrome, great game overall but the worst in the series to fans.

I enjoyed The Room. It was different, and I found it quite scary, though I'm easy in that department. I also loved the link to Silent Hill 2. Silent Hill 3 is actually my least favorite because of its heavy reliance on the cult aspect of the town, which I'm not so fond of.

The room is an easy target, but there's a lot to love about that game.

Halfway through your first playthrough, Check the game's plot guide on GameFAQs. Once you figure out the story behind all the games monsters it gets a second layer of uneasiness to it.

I find it funny that there's a cross platform release for the PS2, PSP, and Wii. Too bad the PSP version will get gimped due to the Wii. The PSP has better graphic and online capabilities.

You have to admit it's a pretty interesting concept, however, to make the survival horror genre more accessible to casual players.

But I also don't know ANY moms (or people over 45) that actually like contemporary horror movies.
