Lucky for us, Sony's E3 keynote answered the latter, with a fresh dose of video footage of the game, newly dubbed The Last Guardian. Here's the thing though: the first three and a half minutes of the trailer were shot-for-shot identical to the leak, with obvious visual enhancements and that got us thinking: a video comparison! Our very own Richard Mitchell painstakingly stitched the two videos together above for your enjoyment. On the left: The Last Guardian. On the right: Trico. Bon appétit!

In a way it kind of reminds me of the never ending story. The riding of the kitty dragon and all. This was certainly the highlight of E3 for me and I think this is going to be one of the most emotionally involving games ever crafted. I can already feel a strong bond to both characters just from the short trailer.

Night Elve-
Only a dumbass would deny that certain nationalities and different races have specific differences in appearance. The boy happened to share common physical characteristics as Mexican hispanics.
Quit pretending to be offended and self-righteous, you're not very good at it.
On Topic-
Any game that forces me to fall in love with a Falcore-esque type character is A+ in my book.

first off, Negativecool can suck my mexican **** ...you ****ing gringo.
Second, Quit masking your insecurities about how white you are, just because YOU don't get the concept of racism does not mean it does not exist. What exactly qualifies as "Mexican Hispanic" physical characteristics? because he is brown? a round face? please tell me i'm dying to know.... for all i know he looks Egyptian, Native American or even South American.
sorry about our self-righteousness, its just what happens when you actually have a heritage and past to be proud of...

Wow dude, I just made the simple inarguable point that different races and different cultures can have physical characteristics that differentiate themselves from others. I said nothing that warranted racial/ethnocentric insults on your part.
Hispanic and Mexican are not the same thing. Hispanic references anyone of spanish speaking origin; hence "Mexican" hispanic" is a specific qualification of which type. Stay on topic you antagonistic fuckwit.

If people avoid making general claims and statements about things then maybe it would be less insulting, the same way calling a Korean japanese or chinese because they look similar is insulting for an example. Unless you are in your own surroundings whereby you can feel free to make all the ignorant claims you want, except to offend people. The idea is to learn from your mistake and make others aware of it so they too do not fall into the trap.
Its not just race, its culture, religeon etc etc, these are all precious to people, so if you are going to make flying statements, make sure its 100% fact.

so lemme get this straight. you can't say someone looks mexican because they have certain characteristics that mexicans have. you can't say someone is african american because they might just actually be african, not american. you can't say that a chinese person is japanese because, even though their traits are almost identical, they are not (koreans are obviously korean), but when it comes to generalizing white people, all of the above can make all the "flying statements" and "ignorant claims" they want? because it happens, constantly, so your logic is very flawed. i am italian, but in the eyes of blacks, mexicans, etc., i'm just a white person. but i don't get all bent out of shape about it because i'm secure with myself. and if they were too, they wouldn't get all bent out of shape about a simple generalization. if someone's race, heritage, culture, is something they are proud of, then they won't over analyze every simple thing someone says, turn it into something offensive, and put words in their mouth so they can back themselves up.

@ BIGGEN (LIVE-PSN: BIGGEN1103)
Think about it, blacks = Anyone black, its not racist, its not generalising, its not insulting unless used in that way, the same goes for whites. When it comes to countries and more specific terms, thats when you have to be careful.
I have carribean heritage, fullstop, I may have had ancestors hundreds of years ago from Africa, but as far as I'm concerned I'm a carribean black living in England, so the correct term for me is carribean-british, and thus this is how I fill in forms and such. I'm not african, so don't call me african, if you called me african I WOULD be insulted because by that statement, either you are trying to be insulting or you are just plain ignorant and believe all blacks have just come from Africa. The same way you'll have african(heritage)-americans(nationality). Its not a flawed statement at all, because by your theory, if I was to call someone European even though they were born in America and thier family too, they too would be rather bothered by that, because either I'm doing it to annoy them, or I simply just didn't know America consisted of white people amongst others.
"you can't say someone looks mexican"
If you are basing being mexican on skin colour alone, no, if it is a specific trait and its proven then yeah, you could. Like I said, I don't mind being called black, I am black, but I'm not African.
"because they have certain characteristics that mexicans have"
Yeah, but the original comment wasn't based on several characteristics, it was based purely on skin colour, thats like assuming all whites are the same and come from the same place, greeks and Italians would be insulted by that statement.
"you can't say someone is african american because they might just actually be african, not american"
Thats not what I said was it?
"you can't say that a chinese person is japanese because, even though their traits are almost identical, they are not (koreans are obviously korean)"
Well go ahead and see if you don't offend someone.
"but when it comes to generalizing white people, all of the above can make all the "flying statements" and "ignorant claims" they want?"
No, and if you were that bothered by it, you would enlighten and educate people who make those flying statements, I have a diverse group of friends, if I can respect them and thier cultures, races, backgrounds etc while at the same time having as much fun as anyone else and thier friends, so can others. People without knowledge make statements that may offend, people that are stupid continue to make that statement even after they have been informed and enlightened, its as simple as that.
"i am italian, but in the eyes of blacks, mexicans, etc., i'm just a white person."
See what I mean? I mentioned this above, using italians as an example without even seeing you had mentioned it. And the thing is, whether you dont or do get all bent out of shape when someone generalizes you, thats your personal problem, I live by the theory that if you were really proud of what you are and what you believe in, you will defend it to the end. The same way you would defend your girlfriend if she was disrespected, the same way you would defend your favourite car if someone said it was shit, the same way you would defend your favourite console or game if others think its crap (fanboys), the same way you would defend your country if others had a general assumption that everyone there lived a certain way. Eg. Americans being fat, Italians all being in the mafia, English all drinking tea, and other insulting assumptions. Okay, these are the more drastic situations, but it all starts somewhere. Just because you don't care to enlighten people as to who you are, doesn't mean I can't, it doesn't mean Night Elve can't, and it's a shame you don't get bothered by these things because my mother works with some of the proudest Italians I have ever seen, and for that I have a damn incredible amount of respect for them and urge to learn more about them

Its more appropiate to call someone Hispanic if basing it by the skin color. As you say, its the same as calling someone who is black African, it can offend some people.

Actually, I'm calling all you whiny bitches africans, because you are. Mitochondrial Eve is your super fucking great grandmother and mine as well. She's everyone on this god forsaken planet's common ancestor and she's from glorious Africa.
Jesus Christ, find something else to get your soaking wet panties in a bunch about you insecure sniveling pricks.
I got one for you. I still say he's South American/Mexican/Mayan/Incan what-the-hell-ever, because based on his clothing there are cultural design memes that seem to align with those places.
If everyone cared as much about people dying, starving and suffering as they do about their "heritage" or "race" we'd have a much better place to live. Not that those things aren't important, but in the big scheme of things it's trivial, or should be anyway.
So yes, in short, I'm saying you are all self important ethnocentric wastes-of-life.
Cheers.
On topic, if this is nearly as good as Ico and SOTC then it gets a permanent spot in my 50 games of all time Case Logic sleeve.
The emotion and atmosphere in those games was so affecting it was unbelievable. Those are the game I always point to when people and critics claim that games won't approach the same emotional involvement that music and cinema do. That and FFVII.
Can't wait for this one.

Some people on a certain forum that shant be mentioned were complaining about the graphics. Personally I think they are insane. Maybe it's because they watched the trailer on IGN, or maybe it's just because they are daft.
The game looks like it has dynamic lighting everywhere. It's obvious that the game has High Dynamic Range lighting outside as well, but it also seemingly has real time shadows on everything. In an interview, the creator states that each individual feather on the back of Toriko (or Trico, the creature in the video) is individually rendered, and has its own physics. When the wind whips through Toriko's feathers, you can tell what kind of a feat that actually is to pull off (in a world where developers STILL can't perfect hair).
Personally I believe The Last Guardian to be the best looking game shown at E3. Uncharted 2 may be the popular pick, but the landscape and the architecture in that game don't come anywhere close in my opinion. I have a feeling that Team Ico is shooting for the fences with the PS3 hardware, and I couldn't be more excited to play the final product. I just hope that they take their time, and that they don't rush it like they did with Ico (US version, which came out first, had a junk cover, and was missing unlockables, among other things, which were in the PAL and Japan versions), and Shadow of the Colossus (There is a lot of land not used in the map, and it's obvious that they meant to use it at one point. Through an emulator, people have found huge structures outside the map that were supposed to be included at one point).
I'm hoping for november-ish 2010, but I'd have no problem with it delaying a bit longer if they need the extra time. I can wait.

There is an HD version on gametrailers. Go to gametrailers, search for The Last Guardian, and it should be the first result. From there you can either stream it, or download it.
IGN also had an HD version, but the last time I checked (the day the game was announced) it was for "insiders" only (meaning paying subscribers). I was pissed. Luckily the video seems to have spread around to the rest of the game video sites.
