Agreed. I actually decided to keep my 360 considering that this is an exclusive...this game has me WAY more psyched than its earlier version did.

"some gamers fear the game will become too easy"

Sooooo...don't use it then? I'll use it every now and then, because watching the guy drop down from the ceiling onto someone then turning around and popping 2 guys in the head in about a second was too awesome.

It was an awesome feature. Though the thing they added that was really lame is showing where the enemy last saw you last. I really hope there's an option to turn that off.

I thought the Mark and Execute feature was what made that demo even more awesome. It was just so damn stylish.

@Magetto, I thought that feature was sick. It adds a whole other level of tactics (e.g. flanking)

What prevents you from doing that in the first place? It's dumbing down the game to make it easier, on top of making it less intense. I much rather play with it off.

@Magetto,

You can always just ignore it. if you don't wanna use it then don't acknowledge it. I personally think that its intelligent, cuz they would always end up killing me in the dark. now I know where they last saw me.

Name dropping Jack Bauer several times has already made me more interested in this game than I usually would.

Combining Sam Fisher and Bauer is nothing but a good thing!

Let's not forget that the first two (maybe not the first one..I forget) had some of the most innovative multiplayer modes in any game ever. I'll never forget grabbing a guy and then whispering sweet sweet taunts into his ear through the Xbox Live headset (in Spies vs Swat mode, or whatever it was called).

Aaah memories.

They were fantastic. Chaos Theory has one of the best levels in a Splinter Cell game. Where Sam robs a bank. I'm pretty sure that's Chaos Theory.

Yes, yes it is.

I actually didn't like it all that much because they pretty much force you to fight your way out (It's technically avoidable I think but unless you tend to stop every 5 seconds and check the floor with infrared vision you're going to run straight into it).

So on one side, you've got people complaining that the franchise has actually evolved, and on the other side, you've got people who complain about the fact tha L4D2 is the same as L4D1. People have to make up there mind.

I'm all for anything that puts some actual "action" into "stealth action" (rather than emphasizing the waiting), and I thought the "mark and execute" looked pretty cool. The only thing that bummed me out was that I've always played Splinter Cell games with a focus on NOT killing anybody if I can help it ("with the great power comes great responsibility," and all that). I wonder whether the new gameplay mechanics strongly favor a more lethal play style, which would be kind of ironic considering that you're no longer operating with "the fifth freedom" to help you sleep better at night.

Maybe there is no room in this world for a gamer who is reluctant to kill people.

The Internet is not one person with one opinion. Some people want games to stay the same, some want them to change. It's not a hard concept.

this game was probably my favorite at E3, forza 3, or uncharted 2. I am so excited for it to come out, and I think that adding in features like this one can't hurt the game, but make it a little bit less frustrating than stealthily sneaking through a level, then screwing up and getting killed in a few seconds. plus, I'm sure its optional, like the rewind feature of GRID and Forza 3

I absolutely love love LOVE the visual things such as the last known location outline thing... and the objectives projected on the game world... and cinematics too... Also the whole movie style changing scenes while still talking/seemlessly transitioning is fantastic.

As for mark and execute.. if people don't like it... don't use it >_> I'm just sure on harder difficulties there are times where if you don't use it, and don't time it perfectly you are likely going to be screwed.

Also of note on the awesomeness... In the trailer when he times the door kickdown to stun that dude before mark and executing two others, then jumps out the window? unbelievably epic ^__^

Features like M&E make this game look much more approachable to folks like me who never got into the stealth games much. I've never played a Splinter Cell but this one is looking really cool.

It has always been a pet peeve of mine that the only benefit of staying stealthy in shooters was one free shot at the back of the head of one of the baddies. After that, all the other baddies would be immediately aware of where you are and take action.

This Mark & Execute thing not only looks totally rad when you use it, it also gives you a well deserved bonus for keeping yourself hidden, and it's also closer to how it would be in real life, you pop in, and can probably get at least 3 kills before they realize what's going on.

Sigh. Just to clear everything up, 'Mark and Execute' cannot be done unlimited times. You earn the ability to do one 'Mark and Execute' every time you do a melee takedown - like throwing a guy over a ledge, punching his lights out, or the classic chokehold. You can't just waltz through the game tagging and bagging everyone.

I have to say first that this game looks amazing, and I'm completely sold. (Well, not completely; I appreciate what they were going for, but I don't like the thing with the objectives and memories being projected onto the environment. I'm still on-board, though.)

People seem to think this Mark and Execute thing is unlimited. It's not; when Sam kills a guy in any other fashion, you can see some bullets animate in the lower-right corner of the HUD, letting you know how many more shots you've earned for the Mark and Execute (up to a small maximum). So it makes combat easy when you're doing well, but you're never going to be able to rely on it, because half the time, you're going to have to do things the old fashioned way.

Is anyone else reminded of the similar trick in Rainbow Six: Vegas? that's the first thing I thought when I saw this. That's not a complaint, mind, because I played that game as stealthily as possible (than just Rambo'd when I couldn't).

I'm really excited for this game now. I've always been a fan of the Splinter Cell games (since the original), and Chaos Theory was amazing. It seems to me like this was the way that they wanted to go with the series for a while, but they had to segue to it somehow, and they did that with Double Agent. The whole game just seems like it is going to be a lot smoother, but still with the same classic Splinter Cell feeling and style.

I think the new mechanics and overall style of the game will only make it better. In the past, stealth has usually meant "slowly, quietly, waiting in the shadows for a guy to turn his back so you can put a knife in it". Conviction seems to be defining stealth as thinking on your feet, using your environment to your advantage, and being swift in your actions when necessary.

I don't think that the new Mark and Execute feature will make things too easy; rather, it will simply let you perform actions and such that you have pictured and wanted to do, but simply couldn't. This all comes back to using your head more to accomplish your mission, rather than simply remaining invisible.
