Wow I had no clue that this game took place inside bowser, I honestly thought you just played as bowser and got an insight into his "inside story" as the title says.

very clever nintendo....very clever indeed...

@ ~ice

I'm keeping that post as an example of ignorant fanboyism. Good example. :)

None taken seemoneh, when you post anything that doesn't praise a nintendo project you just gotta know theres gonna be a bunch of douches that come out in their defense..I've been here long enough to get used to it.

Certainly you can do better than basic name calling.

I'm sure it'll be fun and all, but I just plain miss Bros. Attacks.

Anywhos, the animations look great, and it looks packed full of the humor that makes the M&L series so good. The gameplay just gets booooring without Bros. Attacks to spice things up, though. Bros. Items sucked, and are no substitute.

Partners in Time was without a doubt one of the more enjoyable and humorous games I've played on the DS, really loved that game so I'll definitely get this at some point. Really thought the combat mechanic was fun.

I don't mean to say that they're absolutely not fun... they're just not as cool as Bros. Attacks. The animations and the attacks themselves were fantastic, and the way they were implemented was pretty awesome - in case you haven't played SS, they're basically multi-button combos where Luigi and Mario team up and launch/throw/slam each other into the enemy - you could even mix things up with 'advance' moves where you press a different button than what comes up on screen and it starts a completely new combo.

Yeah, Partners in Time was my 1st experience with the series. Might have to check out how much I could get a copy for on eBay, sounds schweet.

They're super cheap, even at Gamestop. Check out Bros. Attacks on Youtube, you'll see what I'm talking about.

The last game that I played that was a Mario-RPG type was Paper Mario 2, and having loving it, I can see myself playing this game.

And besides who doesn't want to go inside Bowser.

If you haven't played Superstar Saga yet, get to it. It's the best Mario RPG it is, even though it's pretty short.

I wasn't that fond of Paper Mario 2; it was good, but not as great as the first, or Super Mario RPG. I ended up trading it back to EB, but only because they gave me $2 more than I paid for it (on the EB website, nonetheless).

I was fond of Super Paper Mario myself- While TTYD was fun and well-made, I kind of like the platformer elements in SPM. Looks like they are being brought back somewhat, so this should be interesting.

This is the worst premise for a Mario game since Hotel Mario. Probably going to be fun, just very very strange.

I don't really count "Mario Teaches Typing" as a game though, though it is certainly a bizarre creation. There was also Mario's Fundamentals, with random board/card type games.

lol, I remember Mario's Fundamentals. Had to do summer school catch up when I came to the states, and it seemed the only thing we accomplished was playing Chess or Checkers with Mario characters... On Performa Macintosh 5200s no less :P

Good times, hurray for lazy public summer school teachers!

Yeah it was one of my very 1st DS games and I really had a great time with it.

When I'd been reading/hearing about the Sonic RPG on the DS I kept wondering if the combat was at all similar, still having grabbed that game yet.

@Markez: Not really. It is more stylus-based than buttons, but it does have the sort of timed hits that PiT has.

How is this the same as the ones before it? From the video, it looks like Mario and Luigi's segments are side-scrolling, and Bowser's are from the same viewpoint as the previous games.

This looks like a fresh perspective on the Mario RPG games. I am looking forward to it . I only wish it came out sooner.

I also wish the graphics were better. DS can do some great 2d stuff it seems like they are trapped in GBA graphics engine for some reason.

If this is even half as good as Partners in Time (or one fourth as good as Superstar Saga) this will be the best game this year.

I can't speak for the Sonic RPG game but it seems that the Mario & Luigi games definately win in the story department. It feels good to play an RPG that relies as much on reflexes as much on tactics.
