yeah, in the presentation catagory Microsoft definitely won. and they certainly had some worthwhile games with SC Conviction, Crackdown 2 and ME2, and i'll even throw in Forza 3 even though i don't do simulator racers; Milo/Project Natal looked fresh too (though motion stuff isn't really my thing). still, in my opinion Sony just 1up'ed them in content. Heavy Rain, MAG, Uncharted 2, GoW3, A Crack in Time, Last Guardian all looked phenomenal, not to mention FFXIV (which, imo, was the biggest surprise of either conferences). both quantity and quality (if i'm allowed to presume based on developers track records) were present in Sony's games catalog. and this says nothing about the semi-surge in PSP games.

if there was one (or rather two) things that kept Sony's conference from being a bona fide A+ it was all the pre-E3 leaks, one of which contained the $250 asking price for PSP Go. i guess no PS3 price cut was sour grapes for some, but i already have the system, so i'm indifferent on that matter.

I feel bad for MAG. What they did was truly amazing. Having a full 256-Player game going on while demoing it onstage? Awesome.

And then Sony gave them five minutes. I would have liked to see MAG get its own presentation.

Microsoft had the same problem. They dropped some trailers and then didn't say a single word about them. Crackdown 2 didn't get so much as a mention.

I don't see what made Microsoft the "clear winner again". Sony's was awesome and Nintendo's was forgettable.

MS and Sony were both really good. Nintendo was mostly a yawn-fest sprinkled with one or two moments to wake me from the coma.

I'd give both MS and Sony an A-, with Nintendo getting a D+. Both MS and Sony had their long dry moments, but overall a solid conference. Sony's being longer...almost too long. My wife was like, "this is still on?!" Yeah. I never thought it would end.

Of course...I thought the Beatles intro for Microsoft would never end. Seriously...15 minutes long. That's way too much.

If you count the fact that Paul McCartney was involved in the Microsoft press conference, then it is the clear winner. Take that out, and I think Sony has a slight advantage. The (now meme) translator with the notepad was awkward as were the two engineers (one of which couldn't hit a tennis ball on screen for the life of him. Easily equivalent to the Kudo Avatar twitching bug from the MS conference) but they did have FF 14, GOW3, and The Last Guardian. I could see how one could argue for Microsoft being the winner though. It's certainly not as cut and dry as it was last year.

It seems like most of us are in agreement that whats-her-face blew another Nintendo press conference. Why do they not let Reggie talk the entire time?

In terms of OMG MEGATON announcements, Microsoft hands down. Nintendo announced one new thing I care about (New Super Mario Brothers) and I don't even want to play that co-op. Sony was better, shocking with Final Fantasy XIV, half-decent Motion Control (better than the wii, at least). The best part was Mod Nation Racers.

Ubisoft and Konami weren't press conferences. They were both terrible.

That game was so not in need of co-op, it just looked like a mess, just people jumping on each other until they reach the finish line.

All I saw of Microsofts motion control was a demo video that proved nothing. Absolutely nothing. The PS3 motion controller on the other hand has real potential with being realistic, accurate and above all REAL

OMG Megaton? The lolwut motion controls (as seen here in this horrible tech demo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lElK1snXYc) were the only thing they had worth looking at. I don't blame them for bringing videos if the tech is this bad right now. Not only that but the concept was leaked months ago so it was no surprise.

Sony pwned them without even trying.

You know...with that avy of yours I'm not surprised you picked MS. Probalby just because their gonna release 2 more of the same mediocre Halo's(yeah I called Halo mediocre). Really the only thing I read about(didn't get a chance to watch live) that interested me was L4D2, and Felicia Day(god she's hot). Milo/Natal was just a fake promotional video with "Did you ever think what the bottom of a avatar's shoe looked like? WELL BAM! HERE IT IS!" Not to mention Microsoft had no exclusives worth mentioning that really wowed. We knew AC2 was coming. Crackdown 2 was alright. Didn't really care about Splinter Cell

Sony actually made some big announcements. Mod Nation Racers was a amazing thing. the Motion Controller was actually REAL. I mean you can (theoreticaly) lift a guys chin up with your sword and then slice it off. Do actual motions for a bow and arrow, etc etc. Plus you got GoW 3, Last Guardian, FFXIV, so much more PSP lovin' and a slew of other things.

With all things said the winner is obviously Nintendo. Wii Resort FTW.

Im glad I trade in mine at the right time. Sony was much better this year than last year. on the motion controller don't even start lol. that shit looked like your mom butt plug... i know is a prototype.. MS came first, Sony second as always. Nintendo get lost.

Sony was the clear winner. E3's always about the games, and they brought out a shitload for ps3 and a bunch for psp. Microsoft was too busy showing off accessories and social networking features, and Nintendo was too busy being...well, nintendo.

Overall though,

MS B
Nintendo C-

Also, I want to add that I would have given Sony an A+ but they botched the FF 14 announcement. They had a colossal megaton in their hands, but botched it with the "online".

Never have I seen a room go from sheer joy to "....oh" that fast.

Wasn't the PSP an accessory as well as the Motion Tracking? :p

I kid, I loved Microsoft's and Sony's E3. I mean to be honest I am glad Sony showed some real support for the PS3 along with the PSP this year. Other then dying consoles, I've always been happy with Xbox 360. Glad to see the competition is still there and with some many day one purchases. (I love the voice actor for Drake)

And to be fair, Microsoft saved the features and Hardware till the very end.

FF 14 being non online would be an A, and price cut would have made it an A+

Well I technically can't give them an F, because it was better than last year and there's no variations of an F. Like there's no F- or F+, and they did announce golden sun DS. Galaxy 2 I'm mixed on, since it feels like a cash in but it's still going to be decent.

I have to agree with your assessment overall. I think I would give Microsoft a B+ for MGS: Rising (though had Sony's press conference been first, they probably would've gotten the reveal) and Milo. I still think Sony's motion controller will provide a more robust and enjoyable experience though. I like Sony at a B+ as well since the PSP go ended up being so much more expensive than I was expecting and there was no new PS3 hardware or price cut, and it was a bit too long (though being fair, they do have 3 platforms). However, the games Sony showed and demoed flat out dominated, so an A- is good.

Nintendo was far better than last year, but they needed something huge like new Zelda or Mario RPG in addition to their show to push it up. Of course, had they announced GTA on Wii or a new Final Fantasy, that would've been megaton by itself.

Microsoft A-
Why:
Great set of games, Good Flow, Great Future tech, Milo, and No Graphs.

What would of made it an A?
Slightly better demo's, a Tattoo, more Yoko, and Slightly more details.

Sony B+
Why?
Great Demo's, Great Set of Games, Pretty Good But pricey looking future tech.

What would of made it an A-?
Price Cut, Cheaper PSP, Better Flow (Do we need PS2 news?) and Party/Voice support.

Nintendo C
Why?
Mario,Mario, Metroid, and what's her name not talking about her kids (Which I didn't mind last year.)

What would of made it an C+?
More games or focus on Hardcore games. Why No silent Hills Demo, Why no Dead Space Extraction or the Conduit. And The Vitality sensor is weird enough especially without any real explanation of what its for.

@Quattro

Nintendo has the most sales, yet we all know it's not the best gaming console this gen. People were much more impressed with Microsoft's presentation, but most of them are forgetting it's about the games and they didn't show all that much compared to Sony.

If I was judging flashy-ness, then MS wins by a lot, but I'm judging by substance.
