whoa, they actually were able to keep the physics? that's pretty impressive. i was expecting all the special effects, the physics, and creation to have to be axed to be able to make the portable version, but i guess i was mostly wrong. can't wait til this comes out. will it have online co-op though? that's what makes the LBP experience.

And they sad that it could not be developed for XBox 360 because it does not have the power of playstation 3. uh...

not really impressed, really.

Any current low bench piece of hardware can do physics just right. specially when we are talking about rendering 3D object in a 2D space. you only have 2 axis to work with in the end. So not really impressed. I still don't see how the 360 couldn't had handled this.

Just look at boom blox. It has many of the Physics are also in LBP and its in 3D

"I still don't see how the 360 couldn't had handled this."

1. Was built with the PS3 in mind (architecture optimized)
2. Blu-Ray storage capacity
3. HDD on every unit

Evans went onto say that of course a content creation game could have been made on the 360 (as it could for any platform including the PS2 or megadrive) but that it would have been a completely different game. So, in his own words LBP couldn't have been done on the 360 the way it shipped for the PS3. It has nothing to do with particle effects or physics so much as the PS3's hardware is better suited for this type of game.

LBP could've been perfectly recreated on the 360. The idea that it can't fit on a Blu-Ray seems pretty ridiculous in the face of GTAIV. LBP doesn't have any special DLC elements that would suffer from optional HDD, 360 has more DLC than the PS3 as it is. If playing levels online somehow requires an HDD, that could also easily be done without it. PS3 architecture optimized doesn't mean anything either, especially since it's easier to port a PS3 game to the 360 apparently. These all come together to say that you can't copy paste LBP off a Blu-Ray onto a DVD and play it on 360.

I would also like to say that while the physics overall were great on LBP, the character control was woefully poor. And no it isn't because I suck at LBP, so you can put that canned defense back on the shelf. It isn't unplayable or anything and it doesn't mean the game isn't amazing, but it's simply inexcusable for a 2D platformer to be so imprecise and difficult.

Regardless of the control issues, this will probably become my favorite game to haul on the road with me. I don't know if this was covered, but does it give the option to store online maps locally? I'd like to be able to dump a whole bunch on the MemoryStick for the car/plane rides.

I personally thought LBP PSP looked shockingly bad from the E3 videos I saw, but I'm going to reserve judgement for when the final version is out. Fortunately there was nothing in the videos that couldn't be fixed before release.

How does it look bad? The PS3 version was more than 40 GB on a BluRay so recreating that on the PSP was a HUGE task. The game looks amazing and is still being worked on. Of course it's not going to be as detailed as the PS3 version but it is LBP on the PSP.

Well, here's one of the videos I watched:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ALecFM86_w

The graphics aren't bad, but the physics and controls are completely wonky and the Sackboy and level designs lack the personality of the original. There are also a bunch of weird bugs just from that one video, but odds are those will be fixed before release.

Hey Andrew does this game retain 3 Layers of game play? I read somewhere it was only two layers.

I can't wait to see how the create mode works using only one nub. I hope they add PSP Plus to this game so creators have an easier way to manage creating new levels to the best of their ability. Overall this game looks amazing. I can't get enough LBP as is.

IMO 3 layers was a mistake to begin with. It seemed to needlessly complicate navigation and wasn't really that important to the gameplay mechanics.

I think I would prefer 2 layers. Not that I'm interested, I was very dissapointed in the original. Developers have gotten so lazy they ship 1/4 of a game and then give you the tools and tell you to finish it.

3 layers is great what are you so bummed about?

3 layers add more details to a level and gives it more depth and space. 3 layers also is great for race levels and so on. Many user created levels wouldn't have been as great if it wasn't for having 3 layers.

actually, 4 layers would have worked best IMO. race levels especially would have benefited. but yeah, 3 layers was just fine, i don't know what you're talking about shag.

90% of the first game only used one or two layers anyway. They only used all three layers at the same time in a few areas, like the first haunted house level where you had to jump up the three elevators while a ghost bobbed up and down near the top.

I have to say, this was a game I thought I would really enjoy and just flat out didn't.. I did have some fun creating levels on co-op, and I know I'll be shot for saying it, but the gameplay was just a huge problem, it controlled badly, the multiple layers were akward and the actual story mode was just boring.

That being said, I'm still collecting all those free holiday costumes, and if they've fixed some of the problems I'll at least give this one a shot when I get my new PSP.

I agree. I was super-psyched for LBP to come out but after I played it I was really disappointed with the controls. I'm still a big fan of the art style and creative aspects, but just didn't have fun playing the game itself. Plus, I got really turned off by the agressive content moderation and overwhelming amount of microtransactions.

It will run on all the PSP models. It might load a little quicker on the newer models but even a 1000 should be able to run it with no problems.

I agree with you Ezio, and on top of that, the solution is VERY simple. Don't like it? DONT but it! :) K? (Not pointing any fingers XD)

For this kind of game, micro transactions dont bother me at all. I personally especially LOVE the limited content :) Gives users a chance to stand out by being one of the few to have that specific content. Instead of everyone having the same stuff :P

I especially wish they'd make more level packs! XD Those were the best value, i think at least. AND not only did you get new levels to play, and new items to collect, you earned more tools to create more unique levels with.
