Wonder why developers are still using UE2.5. 2K is doing the same with BioShock 2. I'm guessing it's because they already put a lot of resources into heavily modifying the engine and don't want to throw that work away?

I just tried to replay Double Agent on the PC (it was 5 doll hairs on steam) and I fucking hate the "in between" missions. I hate when there is a time limit to do something. It's just a personal thing, but it strips all the fun out of the game and starts stressing me. I really hope there isn't anything like that in Conviction.

I liked how open-ended those sections were, though. Did you know for instance that it was possible to jump through the window of that hot chick and make out with her?

They were cool in their own way, but not in keeping with the high-action of the rest of the game.

Im right there with you on the time limit thing. Anytime I have a timed level, or a race-ish level, or a game that grades me on my progress and marks me down for taking my time, it pisses me off. Thats the main reason why I have yet to enjoy a GTA game.

@ R (XBL: Esoteric Lord)

Yeah, stealth action and timed missions never mixes well (for me anyways).

They are as bad as escort missions (aka MGS 2 Otacons little sister; forgot her name).

Yeah, the game looks awesome. I loved Pandora Tomorrow. But good god, this year seems worse than most as far as the fall glut of GOOD games goes...

October ALONE sees:
Conviction, Saboteur, Brutal Legend, Alpha Protocol, and Dragon Age. And that’s all I can think of off the top of my head. Two of those games are huge, time-sucking RPGs.

I think this looks really cool. But I am a little sad that the franchise is moving in this direction. There was something so cool about the hardcore stealth, gadget-laden infiltrations of SC 1 to 3. Hopefully they could do a sequel to this one where he's firmly back with Third Echelon?

I think they're going back to third esh, because at the end of the trailer the person says (paraphrased) " we got him back" or something along those lines as if to use him again now they retrieved their agent. He will probably go along with their missions while finding out what ever about his daughter.

Looking forward to it, that's for sure.

He'll still likely be doing his Jason Bourne-style busting in through doors stuff for the whole game though. I miss the days of slower paced, tactical stealth.

I'm definitely looking forward to this game. Splinter Cell has always been a pretty solid series to me, and though there's always a handful of highly frustrating moments, the times where something extremely amazing happens and the intensity of the action are always worth it.

I guess that's tough ta-tas for those of us who enjoyed the stealthy mission focused Splinter Cells of ol'.

As long as they don't change Michael Ironside as the voice of Sam Fisher, they can change anything in the game play and I'll still buy it,

they should make a full splinter cell coop game about those two agents from the coop sessions of chaos theory/double agent..since coop is all the rage now and it would be back to the splinter cell roots of sneaking without interfering with conviction story...
