Pandora would 'love' to be included on Xbox 360

"We'd love to include game consoles like the Xbox 360 as part of this story at Pandora," Jessica Steel, SVP of Business Development at Pandora told Joystiq. "It is technically possible, and we're glad that our listeners are helping us with that effort by making their preferences known."
So, let your preferences be known to Microsoft:

I don't care much about Internet radio, and therefore don't listen to Pandora. I do use Last.fm, however (since back when it was mostly AudioScrobbler) to scrobble and track my music libraries. I don't think I'll use Last.fm on the 360 much either, just like I ignore the (official) Last.fm iPhone app.
rTwelve @ Jun 9th 2009 5:06PM
Why was I downvoted? Thank doesn't make any sense.
tobz1000 @ Jun 9th 2009 5:09PM
No idea, my friend. Pandora fanboys?
Anticrawl @ Jun 9th 2009 8:31PM
Is it weird that I want Slacker and not Pandora/Last.fm?
Dy-lon @ Jun 9th 2009 9:02PM
It would be a cool feature, but its one more thing to distract from the 360s true purpose...games. Remember?
#RiG @ GameSurge @ Jun 9th 2009 10:50PM
@dy-lon
The Xbox360's "true" purpose is to become the entire Home Entertainment of choice. If that means including my favorite free music service (Pandora) so be it! Since the announcement at E3 I created a Last.fm account and I can safely say Pandora has nothing to fear in terms of competition.
It's also more user-friendly than Last.fm, so the casual not-so-hardcore-gaming audience that MS is trying to appease would have an easier time with Pandora.
Cj @ Jun 9th 2009 4:27PM
I just dont care about internet radio.
Avada Kadavra 9 @ Jun 9th 2009 4:31PM
Word, and why do I need internet radio on my gaming console? I would like to keep bandwidth usage down for less lag time - if it would even work while playing a multiplayer game.
MystileArmor @ Jun 9th 2009 4:42PM
@Avada
No one MAKES you listen to internet radio...
Alex @ Jun 9th 2009 5:44PM
Me neither.
The closest I got to either of these services was testing the Radio thing in iTunes.
Alex @ Jun 9th 2009 7:11PM
@Avada:
Why have internet radio on the console? Why have Netflix on the console?
Most people don't have a Home Theater console that can pull internet streaming stuff. I have my xbox hooked up to my home theater, so I could just boot up Pandora and let it play while I am doing stuff around the house. As others said, add Sirius XM and I am set!
LaughingTarget @ Jun 9th 2009 4:31PM
Add Sirius, XM and an all of the above option.
PlayaCDubb @ Jun 9th 2009 4:44PM
I agree with you. I would love to be able to listen to my sirius subscription on my xbox360. My satelite radio is a factory installed one in my truck.
Maxx the Slash @ Jun 9th 2009 5:50PM
YES. On top Last.fm and Pandora (internet radio stations), Sirius XM (satelite radio) should be included too. Have all three under one section of the Dashboard, not just one of them.
Sirius XM pissed me the hell off when they removed some of their channels from DirecTV after their merger. I was an avid Virus listener. I couldn't get enough of The Ron and Fez Show and Opie and Anthony, and they removed it from DIrecTV. I'd love to be able to get them back through a partnership with Microsoft to listen to them on the Xbox 360.
Christian @ Jun 9th 2009 7:40PM
would make sense since Microsoft is all about subscriptions, they should add SiriusXM!
Jason Statham (Aka Vegeta) @ Jun 9th 2009 4:31PM
While I don't mind Last.FM, I would have preferred it if Microsoft had a deal with Pandora instead of Last.FM. For me, Pandora is the only way I can find good music outside of the radio. And we all know that it's virtually impossible to find anything good on the radio.
charlie b. @ Jun 9th 2009 4:33PM
hear hear. Pandora has introduced me to many new artists, and brought me to like some other artists i probably wouldn't have listened to otherwise.
...Pandora for the PSN would be nice, too. i mean, they already have Internet Radio sponsored by shoutcast.
glitched @ Jun 9th 2009 6:05PM
I wish i could have and take pandora everywhere with me :)
in the car, on the go, on my PS3 (whether directly on PSN, XMB, through PS3 media server, tversity, or play on... whatever.
I tried the pandora app for my windows mobile phone and the sound quality was terrible. if it was better i could have it in my car and on the go.
Ordeith @ Jun 9th 2009 6:10PM
The Social is actually a pretty good way of discovering music. Suprised MS didn't also integrate that.
I think Sony might listen, then it will become another console differentiator.
Sony + Pandora, MS + Last.Fm
like
Sony + Blockbuster, MS + Netflix
Possibility?
Brian Fantana @ Jun 9th 2009 6:31PM
I'll be another one that agrees with you. Pandora has introduced me to alot of new artist. And to be honest, I havent heard of last.fm. That is until MS said it was adding it to XBL.
XGM @ Jun 9th 2009 6:46PM
I wish Pandora was still open to Canadians, and everybody else for that matter...
Christ-ian @ Jun 9th 2009 6:48PM
A telling fact that MS should pay attention to: there are just as many people who don't give a shit about internet radio as there are those who prefer Last.fm.
Sony should hop on this ASAP, as I remember they integrated Pandora into some of their (mostly) useless Bravia add-ons.
Kodros @ Jun 9th 2009 7:11PM
glitched - Just use PS3's web browser to listen to Pandora.
ThatPCgameryouhate @ Jun 9th 2009 9:55PM
When playing L4D or TF2 I usually have Pandora running in the background through the Steam browser. Never tried Last.fm, but I really like Pandora, and would love to have it on my 360.
Sora @ Jun 9th 2009 4:33PM
I use both services equally and rarely. I picked Last.fm for the sake of argument, though.
WRYYYYYY @ Jun 9th 2009 4:33PM
I guess this all means I should probably create an account with last.fm...
MystileArmor @ Jun 9th 2009 5:28PM
That's exactly what I did.
Tor @ Jun 9th 2009 4:33PM
I don't use Pandora much, but given the choice I would rather have Pandora on the 360. I might actually use it on the 360 since it is hooked up to my surround sound.
Avada Kadavra 9 @ Jun 9th 2009 4:36PM
That's actually a good idea Tor, my room mates use the music listening channels from our cable provider but Pandora or any internet radio would be better to listen too. But I for one would rather just hookup my Zune and listen to that.
SlicerD @ Jun 9th 2009 4:36PM
Slacker.com kicks the crap out of everything IMHO.
But now that they are integrating ZUNE stuff into the XBOX they would be hurting their own biz so it will never happen.
TSSaloic @ Jun 10th 2009 12:47PM
Last.fm, Slacker, Pandora, and Zune Pass could be used as music discovery. Also seeing as Microsoft is only changing the Video Marketplace to Zune and not adding the music store (yet) there currently is no market to cannibalize.
FlamingEffigy @ Jun 9th 2009 4:36PM
Pandora doesn't work with UK residents, therefore to avoid the annoyance I already experience with lack of Netflix, I have to say Last.fm. Nice to see Microsoft showing a bit more international love.
megapenguinx @ Jun 9th 2009 5:43PM
I actually don't think they factored that into the decision...
FlamingEffigy @ Jun 9th 2009 7:19PM
Of course they didn't, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying it.
dabamf @ Jun 9th 2009 4:36PM
I wonder if Sony will counter with Pandora???
SilverFireshot @ Jun 9th 2009 4:45PM
Actually I use Pandora all the time through the PS3's web browser. Works great!
Andrew B. @ Jun 9th 2009 5:11PM
PS3 has both because PS3 has a web browser with Flash 9.
Haohmaru (PSN - DimmuBurgerKing XBL - A Real Puppet ) @ Jun 9th 2009 5:34PM
The web browser option works, but isn't one of the big bullet points on MS's last.fm deal that it supports the in-game custom soundtracks feature? There's just something very fucking appealing about the prospect of blasting Amon Amarth through my good speakers while playing a good competitive game online. It's a neat feature. Far from revolutionary, but still neat.
ZaxCG2 @ Jun 9th 2009 7:32PM
Last time I used Pandora with my PS3, it kept locking up with some stupid ad that wouldn't go away.
A better question would be... why doesn't Xbox have a freakin' internet browser yet?
rgreasons @ Jun 9th 2009 4:36PM
I'll admit that pandora excels at the radio aspect, but I'm a last.fm fanboy for scrobbling alone.
KeenCommander @ Jun 9th 2009 4:36PM
I mostly use last.fm just for scrobbling, but I prefer their radio to Pandora's as well - especially with the introduction of multi-tag stations. Pandora is cool if you hear an awesome new band and want to find other stuff like it, but for just listening to music I wouldn't really use it.
jcar302 @ Jun 9th 2009 4:38PM
You shouldn't have to vote to read the results of the poll.
I don't know much about either one, but i like internet radio.
So to see the votes i had to vote on something i know little about.
Just wanted to see what you guys chose on the poll.
Snowblind @ Jun 9th 2009 4:40PM
I'm happy enough with Last.fm, it's the one I use all the time.
Is there any notable differences between it and Pandora?
Snowblind @ Jun 9th 2009 4:41PM
Blah. Upon further inspection Pandora doesn't even work outside of the US.
So yeah, I'm fine with Last.fm.
InFaMoUs1- @ Jun 9th 2009 4:40PM
I dont have a 360 but I voted "Internet radio scares me!"
sonicspike41 @ Jun 9th 2009 5:08PM
Ditto... except I do have a 360.
Most of my favorite bands were either introduced to me by friends or I heard them on the radio/TV and fell in love.
I'm sure I could find a lot more great music to listen to with online radios, but I don't really feel the compulsion to try to find as many great bands as is possible.
Brazell @ Jun 9th 2009 4:41PM
Last.fm to the max.
CaramelZappa @ Jun 9th 2009 4:45PM
I just don't use my 360 for music. My computer is hooked up to the surround sound, I don't need the 360 and the tv sucking up extra power. Plus, I listen to music mostly when I'm driving, and I use my ipod for that.
MystileArmor @ Jun 9th 2009 4:45PM
I love Pandora to death. The interface is alot cleaner and quicker then Last.fm's and it just seems to work better overall. I also like the option of reading info about that particular album or looking at the lyrics.
I'd rather see Pandora, but Last.fm will be fine as well. As long as I get my music, I won't complain.
Storm Eagle @ Jun 9th 2009 4:46PM
I've been using Pandora for years and it's only gotten better. When I got my iPhone last year and found out they had a Pandora app, it was the first thing I downloaded to my phone. When I saw Last.fm was coming to Xbox 360, all that went through my head was: "Who's that?" and "Where's Pandora?"
