Start stocking up on canned foods and survival gear, folks. One week from today, the Xbox Live service will be going down for server maintenance. According to Major Nelson's most recent blog post, Microsoft is flipping the "off" switch at 12:01 a.m. on June 16, and is expected to keep things offline for "up to 24 hours." Yes, for an entire day, the vile hatred and foul-mouthedness that consumes the online gaming universe will be freed from its fiberglass prison and released into the physical world. We humbly suggest staying indoors.

Will this be the fourth or fifth maintenance that will make it so they won't have to shut live down to do maintenance?

Flip it and multiply it by the amount of gold members, tell me!

Easier to extend Gold status by 3 days than re-pay 14 cents.
Processing fees for such a miniscule amount would be ridiculous, plus, a reparation of 3 days for 1 day downtime makes for good will, yet shouldn't cost Microsoft 14 cents. That's a win-win for everyone.

Could just be "we arent adding anything" maintaince, or it could be prep.
Servers need "cleaning" so to speak, replacing, repairing, etc, etc. Doesnt have to be something new.

Bought Mass Effect day 1 right after my 6th 360 came back just in time from the RRoD repair shop. Beat it a good 5 times or so but I'm going to rebuy it when Microsoft launches that full game thing providing it's not more expensive.
Easily in my top 5 favorite games this gen, and I can't wait for 2.

Main Entry: spelt
Pronunciation:\ˈspelt\
chiefly British past and past participle of spell.
Spelt is a word. Possibly I used it wrong grammatically, but it is SPELT correctly.
And whereas my post will be forgotten in a day, those tags are important in finding past posts using the search engine.

Oh thank the lord now maybe I can play through one of these SP games that I have backlogged so I don't feel like it's just money sitting on the shelf.
Or, more than likely I'll just finally get around to starting that 3rd playthrough of Mass Effect. Seeing all this ME2 goodness really makes me want to play it again.

Damn you guys.
I was able to score a copy of Mass Effect on the cheap during the Circuit City closings, but won't allow myself to even unwrap it from the plastic until I clear out some of the other single-player games I've got going.
But at least once a day I continue to hear how awesome it is, and the temptation goes ever-stronger...
...I hate you all.

I don't care if this gets down-voted, but as an avid RPG fan, and a fan of Bioware, I thought Mass Effect was awful.
The environments were dull, the "exploration" was tedious, the combat was sloppy and repetitive, the menu systems were annoying, and the enemies were more and more of the same.
The dialog was well, fantastic, as was the sound, but otherwise that game was boring.
I had to drag myself through it to finish it.
KOTOR > Mass Effect

In the past, how long have the server maintenances lasted? If this one is longer than usual, does that mean that we can expect something great to immediately come of it?

*Waits for people that don't even own a Xbox 360 to complain about this, and for Xbox 360 owners asking for a reimbursement or a free game*
