Despite all of the controversy surrounding Six Days in Fallujah, the latest of which has seen Konami drop the game, developer Atomic Games is still hunting down a publisher gutsy enough to get behind it. In speaking with Newsweek, Atomic Games' Peter Tamte goes into detail exactly how the project came about, how far along the team was when Konami pulled the plug, and, most importantly, that he still wants to finish the game. Madness? Perhaps ...
With the game being a $20 million project, Tamte sees the fate of Atomic Games directly tied to the fate of Six Days in Fallujah. "If for some reason it doesn't work, we'll have to think about making some very significant changes to the studio," he told Newsweek. Does Atomic Games have a realistic shot at gaining a publisher for Six Days in Fallujah? As much as we hate hearing about companies going under in this economic climate, we'd say the magic 8-ball is not offering the most reassuring glimpse into the future at this point in time.

I read this in the magazine. It's a surprisingly well balanced piece from the mainstream media. Definitely worth a read. But I would have liked them to mention the hypocrisy behind this game being controversial even though the army sponsors their own games.

Just change the name and some of the story (remove all references to Iraq) and you have a good 20$ modern era destert warfare game.

umm If its close to being done and they dont need money then why not Just put it on Steam, PSN, and XBL themselves??? forget getting a publisher for it and instead of taking COMPLETE loss....just publish it themselves and go digital distribution with it

Well, to begin, you have to remember that putting it on Steam, XBLA, and PSN cost money too (how much, I'm not sure). Furthermore, XBLA and PSN have limits on what kind of games could appear, and I doubt SDiF would make it, especially since it's a full game.
And most important of all, going purely digital would cut out an immense potential audience. The vast majority of games are still purchased retail meaning that going purely digital (especially for a game that cost so much) would be detrimental. Publishing themselves is also likely not an option due to the huge cost involved (if it wasn't an issue, I would imagine that they would publish it already).

Ummmm PSN and XBL(This fall) have FULL games on there...Burnout Paradise, Warhawk, Siren, Assassins Creed, SOCOM, and more...it can go and they can pay to put it there themselves...else they will just lose all the money they have spent making it

I hope all the naysayers are happy they killed this game. Not sure if the term "chilling effect" means anything to anybody but after this game, you can expect not to see any real world war games coming up any time soon. Instead, they're going to keep mining the shit out of 'safe' wars like World War II ad nauseum, or keep making up their own generic vaguely Middle Eastern settings.
Who needs Jack Thompson any more? Game players are the game industry's worst enemies now it seems.
