I don't want to sound like I'm hating on the system, but that looks really good for a DS game. I honestly forgot the DS was capable of rendering full 3D worlds on a large scale. I think the last time I played a game like that was...Super Mario 64 DS.

Wow.

"It looks like one of the PS2 Grand Theft Auto games -- scaled down, of course, but not as much as we would think."

...sort of like one of the PSP Grand Theft Auto games?

@DBuck: Except not as good? (Whereas GTA DS was 'not at all like the PSP games' and 'much better'.)

I dunno, I'm just not really getting a good vibe off this, perhaps partly because it does seem to be trying to do something that PSP can do lots better. Maybe it will be a good game, though, hope so! I'll definitely be waiting for reviews.

Agreed. This looks fantastic.

I got a question, though. If the DS was capable of handling a fully 3D GTA game, then why exactly does Chinatown look like an updated version of GTA2? I know Rockstar is not that great of a developer (yeah, I said it), but c'mon now.

I really want this game to be good. Sounds like the graphics and gameplay works, and I'm just hoping that the story is more "quirky" than straight up bad.

"you can be a jerk in this game in the name of protecting the city."

I like the sound of that!

They probably just limit the "jerk factor" to being able to flash your lights to run red lights and tailgating citizens for the sheer purpose of imitimidation.

It looks like the what the PSOne GTA could've been if it were in 3D and not top-down. Looks amazing, I agree. I really need to get a DS. It's library is become more appealing by the day.

Yeah, you really should. Having both a PSP and DS is really the way to go. I love each of them for their own reasons.

This looks like it really pushes the DS technically and could be fun, but I wonder if it will just have an absolutely terrible story.

I hope they outsource the engine. That would mean a lot more 3-D games on the DS, which I happen to enjoy.

I sure hope you meant "license the engine", because outsourcing would mean that they have another develop the 3D engine for the original team, not to let another team use their 3D engine for their own game.

This doesn't mean anything considering you didn't tell me if the game was FUN or not. Thats all I care about.

I hope the graphical impressiveness doesn't mean the game length will have to suffer.
