The demo doesn't really get across that this game's gameplay isn't totally like other shooters: Singleplayer sees you employing hit-and-run tactics more often than going in guns blazing.

I'm glad it got good reviews, because otherwise Volition would have been ostrich-sized for making 2 'meh' games in a row.

This game makes me not enjoy other games as much. I want to be able to level buildings everywhere I go now =(

I'm enjoying this game a lot actually. Like many reviewers point out the story is absolutely not the strong point, however, for those looking for a bit of destruction laced with explosives I don't think you are going to find a better game this year.

Everytime I start up my game I always immediately look for the closest, biggest building and then I systematically destroy it from inside out. Absolutely the best stress reliever.

The game's story was incredibly lacking, some of the physics were illogical, the game was very linear even with an open world, and it always had constantly respawning enemies no matter what you did or how many bases you took out, and worse it played as a game EXPECTING you to die, so all immersion was out on the first death, and the enemies would be constantly annoying, just as much as some of the puzzles or sidetag missions.

Indeed this game fails... and rating only on multiplayer and being an open world is stupid, as both were repetitive and had major flaws, and of course the immature online community.

Did you notice the game you were playing is called Red Faction GUERRILLA?

When a game plays in a manner that you'll die 20 - 50 - 100 times, it shows a lack of immersion as you know longer feel that you're that player... few games get this right... this one doesn't.

The term Guerilla, does not mean what you seem to think it means in this aspect.

I couldn't stand to finish the demo because it was so terrible, I'm really surprised to see scores this high.

Now, if only they didn't kill off the local multiplayer and all the old weapons from the first two games. From what I saw of my friend playing, those are the only complaints I can honestly voice.

I'm not sure about all the weapons, but I know they still have a few from the original.

It may have been because I was looking for familiar names like N.I.C.W, W.A.S.P, and the Anti-Personnel Rifle.

My friend was in Dust last that I knew.

Game was fail when I learned you can't dig tunnels like the original Red Faction. And it was on the PS1 so far back...I have lots of other things to play anyway oh well. :P

Your comment is fail because the original was for PS2.

Also, the building destruction in this one is so good it will make you forget about the old geomod.

I've been pretty addicted lately. I just keep playing 1 player to unlock the next big thing, or upgrade my favorite weapon. So much stuff in this game, the weapons/upgrades remind me of ratchet and clank :P.

Haha, ya, the hammer rocks. But there is tons of random stuff. The singularity bomb and nano rifle are my favorites.

You know, I've never seen an Edge score that *wasn't* a 7. So I was thinking--maybe that [7] you see at the end of (practically) every review isn't really a score, but instead just some bad HTML markup that keeps getting copied and pasted review after review. That way, the perception at Edge wouldn't be so much that they're pretentious hosers as they have amateur standards toward web design.

Just thought I'd let you guys know: the final unlockable in MP is THE OSTRICH HAMMER! IT'S IN THE GAME! You're going to have to work for it, though, that's for sure.

I'm really surprised by the decent reviews, as this game still is as shallow as it was back in beta. Lots of spraying and praying and very little actual tactics or skill.

Sure, it was cool seeing a building collapse, but everything else was more generic than any game I have seen in years. No unique weapons, movement is just floaty jumping and a limited use jetpack, combat is all spam, and environments lack anything memorable.

I agree. Weapons like the Arc Welder, Grinder, and Reconstructor are just another machine gun in your arsenal. And Mars gravity is so high that you shouldn't be able to jump ant all.

@failknight: The gravity on Mars is 38% the gravity on Earth because Mars is smaller than Earth. This means you would actually be able to jump HIGHER than here on Terra.

This is a great game. This is one time when I couldn't agree with most reviews more then I do already. Now, if they do some patching for multiplayer, which they announced today, then we are set!
