I think I'll wait for that other $50 to come off...
Good deal for some people tho as you guys said it wont last long!!
incubeezer @ Jun 11th 2009 9:45AM
They also have the deal where you trade in $75 worth of games and get another $75 towards a new console.
Petebot330 @ Jun 11th 2009 12:44PM
yeah...for what, 2 bucks a game? I don't think so...
R (XBL: Esoteric Lord) @ Jun 11th 2009 9:45AM
Man, even on sale its $350....
the FYE in the mall near my house has the 360s priced at $150, $250, and $300, for the arcade/pro/elite models right now.
tobz1000 @ Jun 11th 2009 9:49AM
That's some fine maths there.
el serpiente @ Jun 11th 2009 10:36AM
Yeah, the PS3 is more expensive than the 360. Did you just figure this out?
Markez @ Jun 11th 2009 10:47AM
oh dear me you guys are just baiting someone to come in with the 'durr no tes pstriple is not more expensive' spiel
Fun DMC @ Jun 11th 2009 11:14AM
uh, no, Markez, at this point you are.
and holy shit $150 for an arcade ain't bad at all.
Markez @ Jun 11th 2009 12:24PM
Ah whatever pal, simmer down. You know as well as I someone would've jumped outta the woodwork with it anyway. I'm sure I've occasionally tried to be the comment police as well, but hakuna matata. You're damned right it's hella cheap.
Rhamsey @ Jun 11th 2009 9:51AM
big deal, last week dell had 100 dollars off of the elite 360, 60 bucks off of the pro, and the week before that, it had 80 dollars off the ps3. I tend to go with dell on console buys.
R (XBL: Esoteric Lord) @ Jun 11th 2009 9:55AM
Dude! You're getting a Dell!?
Chris D.(PSN: Aggie_CEO | XBL:The Aggie CEO | Steam: Aggie_CEO @ Jun 11th 2009 10:08AM
Yea they had a sale with the 80GB PS3 for $299 a while back...
Draco @ Jun 11th 2009 10:26AM
Yeah but Dell doesnt pay AOL for advertisment, that makes the Amazon deal better.
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread - XBL: SoCoolCurt) @ Jun 11th 2009 12:32PM
i almost got burned trying to buy an Elite on Dell.com one time, and it was on a tip from here actually. apparently it was a glitch and it showed the sale price in my cart and everything until i paid for it and it showed up at full price. i don't feel like looking for it now but i think it was like $350 for like $600 worth of stuff. i called in and luckily the lady let me cancel my order since they wouldn't honor the sale. should of known it was too good to be true.
Gun Barrier @ Jun 11th 2009 10:09AM
350$ is still alot of money...
Olicon @ Jun 11th 2009 7:07PM
It's a lot of money compared to fast food. But everything is expensive.
You'd be hard pressed to get anything for cheaper. My frikkin work suit + slacks + shirt costs almost that much--and I didn't even buy an expensive brand!
It all comes down to where you want to spend your money. Stop drinking and smoking for half a month, and you probably have enough to get yourself a PS3.
Now, if only the PS3 (and all console) price in Australia is not so ridiculous..
Arnie @ Jun 11th 2009 10:16AM
There is another deal which you can combine with the one above. If you are approved(& I was) for a Sony branded Chase credit card(Visa) then you can get 150$ off on any Sony purchase for more than 300$. So both offers combined you can get the console for 200$ which is a pretty good deal IMO. I got my PS3 using that credit card and after paying it off(you cant carry balance forward for the offer) I discarded the credit card.
rickjamess04 @ Jun 11th 2009 2:21PM
Arnie, it is a good deal for people that can afford it. But in light of these economic times/credit crisis, I don't think its prudent to start getting others to get unneeded credit cards and then close them--afterall, closing credit cards hurts your credit.
Victoryismine @ Jun 11th 2009 6:00PM
Yeah That's what I did I got my sony card and knocked off $150 bucks from my PS3 purchase know I use my sony card as my gas card and I pay it off at the end of the week. I get sony points and can traid in for accesories and games. That's how I got my second controller and bluetooth headset. I think I have like 10,000 points still (I have a long commute to work). But still free gear is nice.
Edgar @ Jun 11th 2009 10:36AM
A new bundle and now Amazon is taking $50 off? Hmm, it looks like Sony is trying to sell more PS3's this Summer. Maybe they're trying to make room for... the slim?
Mystic @ Jun 11th 2009 11:10AM
Make it a $300 discount and I'm sold!
cuteSAVAGE @ Jun 11th 2009 11:12AM
Is it just me or is every single Amazon item "Currently Unavailable" today. A lot of people must be buying PS3s...
SecretAgentHam @ Jun 11th 2009 11:13AM
Sold Out
J @ Jun 11th 2009 11:14AM
I did the Sony/Playstation card deal at Christmas and got mine for $250. Stand-alone blu-ray players still average $300 (at least good ones do). Awesome deal.
GewurztraminerX @ Jun 11th 2009 11:30AM
If they had these sales 6 months ago when I was in the market for an HD system and RB2 I might be playing a PS3 right now instead of a 360.
KonohaShinobi @ Jun 11th 2009 12:06PM
When these start flying off of the shelves, maybe Sony will consider an official $50+ price cut
Cellien @ Jun 11th 2009 12:39PM
I got my PS3 sept. last year. Traded in some games I never played from Wii and DS, and a few 360 games. They had some deal going on where if you traded in so many games, they give you extra credit (forgot how much). Anyways, I got the 80gb and only paid around $105 out of pocket.
Maulok @ Jun 11th 2009 1:31PM
I'm still very proud of the deal that got my PS3. Right after the high def format wars ended, Best Buy had a coupon for 20% off any Blu Ray or HD DVD player. The coupon explicitly said "not valid on XBox 360 HDDVD add on" but nothing about a PS3 (this was when Spidey3 was bundled).
That Friday on my lunch break I went over and asked if it applied to PS3, and they said it sure looked that way and gave me the discount! I got my $399 PS3 for $320.
I went back Saturday for the BD remote and to browse games, and a hand written sign said "Coupon does not apply to PS3, sorry for the inconvenience". I guess the manager got in trouble.
Patrick @ Jun 11th 2009 2:55PM
@ Chris
"I think I'll wait for that other $50 to come off..." (referring to the Amazon deal)
"Yea they had a sale with the 80GB PS3 for $299 a while back..." (referring to Dell)
Can you believe these two comments are from the same person? Why the hell didn't you just buy one, you freakin' douche? This just proves that a lot of people just like to whine in general about the PS3's price, overpriced or not.
harvsorrow @ Jun 11th 2009 2:55PM
I finally bit the bullet and went to my friend ebay for a used PS3 for under $275. Not bad. Finally a PSWii'er. Now will finally see what all the talk about this "Bioshock" game....
I agree, $350 is better but still a tad steep.
incubeezer @ Jun 11th 2009 4:15PM
You can see the prices on their website. They're decent enough. I traded eight games in and got $84. Though the waiting is the hardest part. I read they're picky about cases and game versions.
