come on dude, everybody knows that the 360 is beating the ps3 just because of the price difference!!! if there was a ps3 at $199 there is no way in hell that the 360 would beat the ps3..... hell ps3 at $299 will still beat the 360.... getting inFAMOUS this weekend :)

@Rodrigo

"[The] ps3 at $299 will still beat the 360."

Says who? Someone looking for a cheap Blu-ray player?

The sales gap in the U.S. between the 360 and PS3 grows wider every month. Even after a price drop (or two) the PS3 will not surpass the 360 before next-gen machines hit the shelves in 2014-15. The math does not support it.

Poor inFamous, i know i know its a new IP but those are not good sales, and I know it came out at the end of the month but that wont change anything, it will porbably just do about 600K by the end of the year here....Still a good game, it will be sad if Prototype sells more,

Meh...

New IP is always a difficult sell no matter how good it is. A better comparison would be to the Crackdown numbers when it first came out. Of course that's not really fair either since it did have a sweet Halo treat attached.

Maybe Mirror's Edge or Dead Space numbers for the PS3 would be a better comparison.

Anyway, I think its a long term word of mouth seller (like Crackdown).

Or maybe people need to quit underestimating Sony First Party stuff. Look, we all know it doesn't set the world on fire. But while everyone is concerned about the top 10, a lot of PS3 staple titles slip under the top 50 but continue to chart. Remember when Ratchet & Clank was a failure? 2.1 million. Remember Uncharteds abysmal failing? 2.6 million. Remember Little Big Planets big face dive? 2.2 million. Hell, even the epic failures of Lair and Heavenly Sword broke a million.

Somewhat surprised at Infamous' showing since it was only counted for about 5 days I think. I think there were bets going on in GAF for who would do better between UFC, Punchout, and Fight Night 4. Feel kinda bad for the people who said punchout haha

Also, woooh we finally beat the Wii. Things are slowly starting to improve!! (not really though...let me have a hollow victory).

We beat the Wii? By combining 360 and PS3 sales? I'm sorry, man, but being excited about that isn't just hollow, it's sad. And unlike UFC, Punch-Out!! is going to sell well for quite awhile.

The UFC game will also continue to play and I imagine we will see a big surge after UFC 99 & especially after UFC 100. It's the type of game that has longevity and staying power. I would compare it to something like Madden thats going to get a boost anytime an event happens.

I'm just laughing so hard at how WRE tries to spin everything and gets all flustered over nothing.

neh neh neh punch out will have longer legs neh neh neh.

A flop is only a flop if it's on the PS3.

I'm sorry Johnny, but flustered? I simply said that Punch-Out!! would have long legs as do most 1st party Nintendo games. I just can't see how you're a) laughing so hard at a statement that's historically been proven correct and b) alluding to me saying anything about PS3 flops. And I think the UFC is dumb and the game is probably dumber...but that has nothing to do with the system that the game is on.

Just look at all your comments in the context of this particular article. You seem extremely flustered about everything.

Your feelings aside about MMA and UFC Undisputed the game sold extremely well for it's opening act in North America. The other point I was making is that there is no basis to say that UFC won't also have very long legs. It's not the type of game you just pick up and beat then throw down on the game rack.

The point about a flop being a flop wasn't really directed at you per se but it was more to illustrate the hypocrisy in saying Infamous flopped but Punch out didn't. The rationale is that Punch out will have long legs so it's not a flop. I love how people ignore the facts when it comes to this sort of stuff. The anti-PS3 crowd said the same thing about Little Big Planet (no legs and was a flop) and KZ2 which have both went onto be very successful titles. This myth that only Wii games have long legs is so played out it's not even funny anymore. But, that argument only matters when it suits peoples agenda as they ignore the 80% of Wii games that don't have long legs for the few iconic franchises that do have long legs.

All of that leads to this statement:
"And unlike UFC, Punch-Out!! is going to sell well for quite awhile."

Where is the rationale for assuming UFC Undisputed won't have legs? I said it before and I'll say it again - UFC Undisputed is going to be as big as Madden and will release a new title annually thats going to outsell everything else when it releases. I'll bet it gets surges following PPV events.

Johnny I think all 3 of those fight titles are going to sell really well. I'm not sure if Punch Out belongs with the other two, though. It's going to sell well for the life of the console for a number of reasons; 1st party, nostalgia, etc.

But even the nostalgia factor with Fight Night is huge, that's been a big, fun, enjoyable title for the masses for a long time. And a huge % of that audience doesn't follow the sport at all, people just love that game/franchise. I know a few of my friends that love MMA have been super hooked on the new UFC game and both bought it, so I think that it's a franchise that will definitely take off.

Personally though, while I occasionally watch MMA I really can't imagine purchasing the game, just not up my alley in terms of games I'd hack.

Anyway, I'm not going a good job at paying attention, who was calling infamous a flop?

I just finished the book that Blade Runner was based off of, which I haven't seen in like a decade, but is LionOfAvailable (HARHARHAHRHAR) on Netflix instantwatch on 360 so I've kinda been focusing on that.

Did that joke suck or was it kind of funny?

I don't know if an expensier and not so friendly (DD only) new PSP model is going to help the PSP sales.
