We all got to understand xbox fans. I mean, how bad can they feel when they cannot get any of this type of games on their consoles.
This game will definitely be a emotional roller coaster.. they say that the ultimate goal for any game developer is to get you so involved with the storyline to actually make you cry. If that beast dies i think i will shed some on this one :P :(

Sure I expect no less than an excellent game, but to claim that it's going to be the end all be all of gaming, best game ever, and other bullcrap based of nothing but a pretty abstract trailer, and the team behind it, and threatening anyone who disagrees is pathetic.

This game is going to be sad.. I can tell. Just looking at that cute little things face with that brilliantly rousing music its going to be one special game. I look forward to the day I sit there and cry, like properly cry to a video game, then games will be up there with the narrative of books and films. And we will have arrived my friends. I guess if you like Team Ico games as much as some people do, then you would be excited. Statements like "Best Game Ever!" are not based on anything, but past experience and the excitement generated by this trailer. Obviously, this trailer tells us nothing about gameplay, but lay out a little of the emotional connection that makes their games great.
Ico and SotC have been gaming experiences unlike anything I have ever played. I love those games and it makes me excited for this one. i personally hope I know nothing about the gameplay when it is released. It will be fun to discover and I'm sure it it will be a great game.

The problem is that everyone thinks the dev is absolutely infallible and incapable of error. I absolutely loved Shadow of the Colossus, but thought that while stylistically Ico was very cool that overall I found the game to pretty meh and not that great. So in addition to getting the consoletards here, you're getting the narrow minded 'this dev can do no wrong' fanboys.
It's a great looking trailer, but beyond that there's really nothing to go off of.

Me. I liked Ico as I like platformer puzzles. The story was engaging
to me and I liked the way it played out. The game (for me) built up a
strong emotional connection to the girl. Something deep in what
remains of my childhood memories. Its not an easy thing to explain to
anyone who does not like Ico which is why so many are unable to answer
the questions given.
SoTC I liked as much as Ico. I love the art style, the story, the way
the game attempts to play on ingrained emotions. Protecting the ones
you love at any cost. The game has a moral side to it that questions
wether you should be killing the creatures at all. Again, if you dont
like it, you dont like it and wont understand what I'm talking about.
And thats fine.
This new title looks to have a similar artstyle. Based on the last
two games relationships with the additional characters its assumed a
similar bond will be stressed between these new characters. I like
platform/exploration puzzlers and this looks to be something along
those lines. Based on that and my prior knowledge of the previous
games, I'm hopefull that this can recapture that feeling.
I'm sure other people are aswell, hence all the "best game ever"
comments with so little information. If you dont get it, thats fine.

Great post. I completely loved ICO and SotC. They fundamentally altered my perception of what games could be, and that has had a profound effect on my life. I know nothing about this new game, but considering the outstanding quality of the 2 previous games I am pretty excited to try this new one out, and that is great!

But you SHOULD give Shadow Of The Colossus a try as it's one of the best games (top5, for sure) of last generation.

ICO is essentially a platformer type game, where you and a partner try to escape a castle. You have to protect your partner from shadow beings that appear and try to kidnap her. She can open doors that you cannot, so you both need each other.
Highlights of ICO: The castle design is amazing, with some very memorable areas. I loved the windmill and the waterfall. Water graphics were pretty awesome, as was the scene of the coastline extending into a misty distance. There is no music playing in the background, just environmental sounds ... water flowing, leaves rustling, wind shrieking on isolated battlements, and ... silence, when you encounter the occasional place of solitude. Emotional and satisfying ending.
Shadow of the Colossus is a prequel to ICO, many generations removed. It's a game of boss fights. That's it. Just boss fights. No mowing down of multitudes of miscellaneous hordes, no army to wade through, just a big guy at the end. But man, what incredible colossi they are!
Highlights of SotC: First time you see this huge lumbering thing that you have to defeat. It's like, what the hell?! You really expect me to down this giant? But you find a way to do it anyway, because you have to. The whole landscape is an incredibly diverse area, with lush forests, caves, crumbling ruins, desert, windswept coastline, large lakes, giant edifices, and so on. You have to make your way through this to each colossus, based only on a direction discovered from sunlight reflecting off your sword. It's an adventure just getting to the big guys, and then you have the fight on top of that. Each colossi is distinct, and you have to employ different methods to defeat each of them. There's a sadness with most defeats, because most colossi are just doing their thing; you are the one who attacks them first. Each fight changes you a little. Still, you continue, because you must, because you've come so far and can't turn back now.
Man, I wish this game would be released in HD on the PS3.

I didn't much like Ico, mainly due to a deep, deep hatred of escort missions. SotC was a good one though. Definitely getting this one.

Based on the past quality of their previous games, it is more than reasonable to get REALLY excited for the newest entry. The caliber of the company, the pride with which they take when making quality games, the time they take with making them (they don't just churn out games every year or two) ... they spend a lot of time fleshing out the story and design decisions. Stories are often conveyed with minimal words or text and work purely off in-game cues and character investment. The player gets fully immersed in the game and develops a major bond to what is going on that is unparalleled by most games out there. Their attention to details in fleshing out unique design aspects is incredible.
With that, it takes a certain type of person/gamer to truly appreciate the subtle nuances that exist, without getting constant feedback through points a HUD or constant chaos (flying bullets, being just one example). There is a time and place for those games, and they are great, but this is just a different style of art. Hating on this for not being your typical affair is like hating any type of music that is not rock. It just doesn't make sense.
What do we know from the trailer? A lot actually. We know that there is obviously some quest (for an object or power or person rescue) which probably serves as more of a MacGuffin to hook the player to be able to tell a story the comments on something greater (say, the human condiftion). We meet a friend which is originally thought a foe somewhere near the beginning. This "kitty dragon" serves as a companion and probably a main mode of transportation on the quest. The gameplay looks to be a hybrid of both Ico and SotC, since it has gameplay elements that exist in both. Will there be something new? Probably. There is adventure and exploration. The amount of detail in the graphics from this latest trailer I have seen is amazing, especially for the amount of stuff that is going on with the "kitty dragon's" feather-hair. The trailer is far from boring, although it does lack Space Marines. Where in the hell are my SPACE MARINES!?!
This will form a pseudo-sequel to SotC, just as SotC was to Ico (kind of like True Romance, Reservoir Dogs, and Pulp Fiction form a loose trilogy but contain different characters).
Will it be amazing? Yes. This company doesn't spend 5 years making a game to not have it be up to par. The End.

Sure Ico has an impressive pedigree but it is difficult to get get excited for a new IP when the trailer doesnt really explain much of the game. Im sure when more comes out about the game they will get more excited or it wont be there thing either way cut them some slack.
And since when does only having one console limit you from liking certain games or commenting about exclusive games? Im sure you've complained about exclusive games before i.e. Halo which is not generic btw, it is a genre defining game. Halo revolutionized online multiplayer play. Think about that next time you put in Killzone2. So do us all a favour and pull your head out of your ass and quit being a high horsed Sony fanboy douche. Nobody likes em.

it's trolling but i'll bite that.
Several of the original developers of Goldeneye already left for other companies, you need to watch at who`s the actual talent behind the games, Tim Schafer left Lucasarts, and since that the company never released anything that sparked the same cult following of Schafer's own Full Throtle or Grim Fandango games for instnce. Team ICO is still under the direction of Fumito Ueda which is not only an executive, but the creative force behind their games.
which means i'll buy The Last Guardian BLINDLY. =)
