Ubisoft to unload limited edition Assassin's Creed 2 bundle on Europe [update]
Update: We spoke with Ubisoft's Michael Beadle who confirmed that Europe is receiving the limited edition listed below. When pried about a release in North America, he could only say "The U.S. has not announced any details about a Limited Edition of Assassin's Creed II."
Fans of Ubisoft's upcoming Assassin's Creed 2 will be able to show just how much they love the game by spending beaucoup bucks, as Kotaku reports the game is getting a rather extensive limited edition. The bundle -- which has been dubbed "the black edition" -- will include not only the game, but also a "holographic signature," 64-page leather-style book (not for recording your creeds, as it'll be filled with concept art and the like), game soundtrack, Ezio figurine, three in-game bonus quests, and some interviews.
It's only been listed in PAL regions so far, with a price of £69.99 in the UK ($115 USD) and $149.95 in Australia ($121 USD), supposedly. We've put in word to Ubisoft to confirm this, and even though a North American limited edition hasn't been announced, It's likely we'll see a similar package. We'll be sure to let you know what we find out.

Black Edition? Im calling N'Gai.
gordo @ Jun 11th 2009 4:10PM
Isn't a little "N'Gai" to "unload" your "bundle?"
The Dark Wayne @ Jun 11th 2009 4:20PM
wat
gordo @ Jun 11th 2009 4:53PM
I know, I know --its pronounced "N-Guy" not "N-Gay."
Still...
mattclarkie @ Jun 11th 2009 3:23PM
Play.com exclusively apparantly.
Oshi @ Jun 11th 2009 3:26PM
>Ezio figure
Sold.
Antagonist @ Jun 11th 2009 3:45PM
Suckered is more like it. That is, if this Ezio figurine is anything like the 1" tall Altair gimmick that looked like a reject from a capsule toy machine which they included with the first game's special edition.
Phillip @ Jun 11th 2009 3:53PM
Hopefully, it'll be more like the Altair action figure.

NaeemTHM @ Jun 11th 2009 4:09PM
Aww I liked the Altair figure that came with Assassin's Creed. People pass buy my desk at work all the time and comment on it's awesomeness.
The Dark Wayne @ Jun 11th 2009 4:19PM
on a related note, the Prototype preorder figure is equally misleading, the photos id seen made it look 3 34 scale, it's only slightly taller than the altair one
boltu222 @ Jun 11th 2009 4:22PM
The UK version was a 12" figure...

I may have to move to Europe if this bundle isn't released in the US.
MaliceMajorE15 @ Jun 11th 2009 3:29PM
or just import it. im sure it will be less costly.
Sly [PSN SniperChameleon] @ Jun 11th 2009 3:28PM
holographic signature? what's that? anyways... this is the most badass thing that's spawned off of this game yet. it would be a badass halloween costume. i just wish it was cheaper :(

Dirty @ Jun 11th 2009 3:59PM
I must admit, that is a pretty cool costume.
Sly [PSN SniperChameleon] @ Jun 11th 2009 4:02PM
yeah. i wouldn't wear it in public, not by a long shot, but its cool. it would be a big hit at costume parties, haha.
Alphathon @ Jun 11th 2009 4:26PM
Why wouldn't you wear it in public? All you'd need to do is lower your head and look all assassiny and no-one would have a clue who you were for the shaddows. Heck you could just find your nearest monestary and no-one would even be able to find you...maybe I'm just missing something here :P
(Note: I don't, and would never, cosplay, and most definitelly do not larp)
Velsar @ Jun 11th 2009 3:29PM
... BONUS MISSIONS?!?
STOP WITH THE STUPID "If you don't buy this you don't get this" add content sure like I don't know concept art and what not, but adding bonus missions is stupid.
MaliceMajorE15 @ Jun 11th 2009 3:31PM
they will probably be made available to everyone at a later date but probably for a bit 'o' dough
The Dark Wayne @ Jun 11th 2009 3:51PM
exclusive bonus missions are almost always nothing special anyway, particularly the Far Cry 2 gamestop exclusive ones
Alphathon @ Jun 11th 2009 4:30PM
Adding extra content is fine by me as long as it either doesn't effect the story at all, or simply gives more background (like allows you to do find out more about the characters). For example the brutal Legend pre-order bonus (the Tencious D guitar) is pretty awesome, but seems to have little bearing on the story.
joeybeast @ Jun 11th 2009 3:30PM
I want an ultra deluxe edition with a working Animus.
MaliceMajorE15 @ Jun 11th 2009 3:31PM
would rather have the flying machine or hidden blades
The Dark Wayne @ Jun 11th 2009 4:19PM
id rather have an ezio cologne.
Darthweder @ Jun 11th 2009 4:35PM
That'd be totally awesome to go back into your dad's memories and relive when you were conceived!
Wait.... did I say awesome? I meant, horrifyingly disturbing.
Shmil @ Jun 11th 2009 3:32PM
Books of concept art: good
Figurines of characters: awesome
Making of documentary videos: fun to watch if you find it interesting
Bonus Content: absolute bullshit
Storm Eagle @ Jun 11th 2009 3:32PM
Now that's a Limited Edition. I'll buy one. Bring it stateside. Pretty pretty please?
Geist @ Jun 11th 2009 4:06PM
If I ever publish a game, I will create a super-limited edition, released only in three suburbs across North America.
stormtrooper190 PSN= (im not telling you that) @ Jun 11th 2009 7:31PM
If I ever publish a game, I will create a super-mega -ultra-limited edition, released only in europe,a limited edition in australia and asia and North America will just get the regular $60 game
RobLink (Alex Kidd incarnate) @ Jun 11th 2009 3:32PM
Probably going to pick this game up based on what I've seen of it so far. I'd drop the extra to get all those extras. Ezio would look good next to my two Sackboys.
Victoryismine @ Jun 11th 2009 3:37PM
Anounce this in the US so I can go preorder it already!!!
NitroMikeo @ Jun 11th 2009 3:35PM
Pass.
NukeAssault @ Jun 11th 2009 3:36PM
Similar package? You mean like how Europe got a 12" Altair figure and we got a crappy 3"? If that's the case no thank you.
The Dark Wayne @ Jun 11th 2009 4:08PM
wow really? and the 12 figure was like 20 bucks!
Snake Robot Podium @ Jun 11th 2009 3:38PM
Sounds great but $100 on a game is my limit, and even that price makes me take a long look in the mirror.
Snowblind @ Jun 11th 2009 3:53PM
Very cool, but I don't think I'm willing to spend £70 on the game. If it were Halo, or Uncharted, maybe, but after playing the first AC, it didn't leave me with the impression that I want to pay twice as much for the sequel.
The Dark Wayne @ Jun 11th 2009 4:08PM
im not gonna be suckered by an ezio "figure" again, 1 inch is not a fucking figure dammit!
Sly [PSN SniperChameleon] @ Jun 11th 2009 4:28PM
1 inch is good enough for dirty :P
ChomskyKnows @ Jun 11th 2009 4:13PM
They OWE us for the worst use of space ever in the first LE they did for the US market...It's the largest empty metal game case I own -- I can fit 3 other games in there...
Patrick @ Jun 11th 2009 4:19PM
Buy buy buy!
Alphathon @ Jun 11th 2009 4:45PM
Looks awesome, but £70 seems a bit steep. I'd maybe pay £55-60 max, assuming the standard one goes for £40. Of course the PC version (which I WILL be getting unless it's gimped, but gudging by no.1 I doubt it) is likely to be ~£15 cheaper anyway *loves PC gaming so much more than consoles*
On a side note, it would seem the exchange rate (£-$US) is getting more back to normal at last.
Alphathon @ Jun 11th 2009 4:57PM
OK, I take that back. The standard edition is £29.99 (PS3 and 360 are £39.99) on Play.com, but the Black edition is £69.99 accross the board. Damn it being play exclusive. Way to screw PC gamers play - you just lost a sale. I so wanted an Ezio to put next to my Vault-Boy and Batarang as well, douches :(
stormtrooper190 PSN= (im not telling you that) @ Jun 11th 2009 7:25PM
FINALLY WEE PAL USERS GET SOMETHING OVER THE US AND JAP!!!
mooon @ Jul 15th 2009 8:21PM

Ezio's a girl!
That's figurine looks like it's wearing lipstick.
That's the "I didn't see that coming" ending they're talking about.
You heard it here first folks.
