Joystiq Podcast 099 - Post-E3 edition

We're back from E3, and we've brought a big huge show along with us. We're playing clean-up on all the E3 stuff we meant to talk about, plus we've got an interview with Mr. Gravity himself, Jon Black.
Oh, and thanks to Mike Santos for the long ago and far away photoshoppage.

I'm just going to say, ludwigs face should be on chewie.
Look At This Suit @ Jun 12th 2009 2:14PM
But Ludwig is neither tall nor hairy. Also he has a silly accent like C-3PO.
Vegnagun bwf @ Jun 12th 2009 2:21PM
And Griffin should have been R2-D2
The Dark Wayne @ Jun 12th 2009 2:58PM
chewbacca is almost like a lion, combining ludwig and his arch enemy would create universe ending paradoxes!
Alex Sohn @ Jun 12th 2009 3:03PM
Actually it should have been McElroy.
Saria the Cat @ Jun 12th 2009 2:13PM
Hooray! \o/ My love for Joystiq and its podcast is uncontainable.
Saria the Cat @ Jun 12th 2009 4:11PM
Double hooray for my email being read! And yes, I think it's probably not the best idea to treat my drug addiction by meeting with the purest South African form of the substance. I'm going into shock now...
The Dark Wayne @ Jun 12th 2009 6:26PM
this is getting creepy
rTwelve @ Jun 12th 2009 2:15PM
This is going to sound really creepy, but I had a dream last night that had Ludwig in it. And I've never met him ever.
It was like a cameo though, like, "Oh look everyone, it's Ludwig Kietzmann!" and he had weird slicked back hair.
That is all.
Old Professor Zertoss @ Jun 12th 2009 2:34PM
Good news everyone!
I have invented a device that projects images of the Joystiq Podcast hosts directly into people's dreams! I call it the Joystiq Dream Molester. Unfortunately, the flow of time between the 21st century and the 31st century is distorted, due to the rise and fall of the Time Police in 2574. As such, aiming the device to control your primitive 21st century dreams is an impossible task.
It works great on the remains of your ancient civilization in 2640! If only they knew who these podcasters were...
Saria the Cat @ Jun 12th 2009 4:09PM
I had a dream that I hung out with Ludwig in SF last night. It was so romantic...but that pesky Randy Nelson and Ross Miller crashed our date.
rTwelve @ Jun 12th 2009 4:10PM
If events from the day influence our dreams at night, I have no one to blame but you and Ross (and Twitter), Saria.
j.howlett @ Jun 12th 2009 2:16PM
way to go number 99. i should start listening again. i have a couple downloaded
SidearmS @ Jun 12th 2009 2:19PM
I am sure I am wrong, but is that Bjork's head on Leia?
XBox 360 - You guys will NEVER be cooler than Star Wars.
Vegnagun bwf @ Jun 12th 2009 2:20PM
No, that's Bjork.
Mike Santos @ Jun 12th 2009 2:55PM
While Ludwig's head is on C3P0, his body is stuffed inside R2D2
The Dark Wayne @ Jun 12th 2009 2:58PM
I love the joystiq podcast, favorite podcast and website on the internets, all six of them
Shagittarius @ Jun 12th 2009 3:43PM
I think I got caught in the LOLroclastic flow of the pod cast.
The Dark Wayne @ Jun 12th 2009 4:22PM
i think you should pick up prototype luddy, im playing it right now and im really enjoy it, probably my favorite game of 09 so far. The graphics arent so hot but the animations are incredibly ,more importantly though, it's just damn fun, it's so satisfying to wrap a giant claw around a guys head and just squeeze
Old Professor Zertoss @ Jun 12th 2009 4:36PM
The PC version is marred by so many sound issues. Apparently if you want to hear it (if you're suffering from the really quiet sound bug), you have to open Device Manager and disable every sound device but the one you're using.
There isn't a workaround for the skipping audio during cutscenes yet.
Jorrel56 @ Jun 13th 2009 1:18PM
You play inFamous before Prototype though? I agree with Chris, if Ludwig has inFamous to play still he will definitely be open world superheroed out. Played both and I definitely think inFamous is far superior in graphics, gameplay, and replay value. Enjoy inFamous Ludwig! :)
Jorrel56 @ Jun 13th 2009 1:20PM
Hmmm don't know why it came up as my other username...
SAGACIOUS bjv @ Jun 12th 2009 4:27PM
Thanks for the free code for Call of Duty: World at War, Map Pack 2. You guys are sly with these codes, embedding some swag in podcast.
I just wanted to let everyone know that the podcast code has been claimed.
Saria the Cat @ Jun 12th 2009 7:02PM
Thanks for letting everyone know. I don't play COD so I didn't try getting the code but it really peeves me when there's a code giveaway and people don't comment and say thank you or at least inform that they got it.
Shagittarius @ Jun 12th 2009 5:03PM
The Sims 3
Prototype
Ghostbusters
Call of Juarez 2
Overlord 2
Splinter Cell...
This is a better month than the 4 that proceeded it and way better than next month...June is a really good month this year.
Shagittarius @ Jun 12th 2009 5:07PM
Just noticed Splinter Cell moved to October..sorry
Donald @ Jun 12th 2009 5:10PM
Obligatory "any plans for episode 100 aside from giving me the BWF?" post
MowDownJoe @ Jun 13th 2009 11:56PM
Let's hope for something as epic as the "What's This?" cover in episode 50.
AndyS @ Jun 12th 2009 5:14PM
I bet you won't see Rage until QuakeCon in August. Fairly standard for id IIRC.
Shagittarius @ Jun 12th 2009 5:19PM
I think people voted for favorite coming releases not most effective/professional presentation.
Shagittarius @ Jun 12th 2009 5:24PM
I'm still playing tiger woods 10 with wii motion plus so my jury is still officially out but so far it just doesn't seem like much better of an experience than without the Wii motion +. I don't think that tiger woods is the best use for wii motion plus, all it ads is twist detection which isn't really the part that makes it feel like swinging a real club...
Hopefully other games go further with the Wii motion + than I've seen it so far...
magicmann70 @ Jun 12th 2009 5:34PM
A 16 GB ipod touch is $299.99.
The psp go is $249.99.
LAZoftheTamarinds @ Jun 12th 2009 6:00PM
Justin McElroy Shot First.
Donald @ Jun 12th 2009 6:48PM
Also, let me drop a little Killjoy here: Brutal Legend was originally going to be published by Sierra (Vivendi), not Activision.
(I'm only 35 minutes in so if that gets addressed, I apologize).
Slaziman @ Jun 13th 2009 12:31AM
Finally!
Jorrel @ Jun 13th 2009 1:13PM
Hahaha. Listening to this last night as I'm going to bed. Chris' iPhone rings with MGS ringtone (same exact one I have) and I jump out of bed thinking my phone is across the room so I go to find it to answer it. Except I'm listening to the freaking podcast on my iPhone. One of the many dumb moments of my life lol. Great show guys!
Jorrel56 @ Jun 13th 2009 1:23PM
Weird it came up as Jorrel instead of Jorrel56... anyhow. More free swag to give out for show 100 to celebrate? *wink* *wink*
Ben @ Jun 13th 2009 1:44PM
Just a crazy thought here.
What if Sony wants to sell the PSP Go to people with a little extra money this Christmas? Some people will pay $250. You know they will.
Instead of pricing it at $199 or $179 or even cheaper and having big shortages and empty store shelves, maybe they're pricing it where they think sales will match their ability to produce it. If you only have the capacity to produce 2 million units this year, why not sell them for $250 over the course of 2 months instead of selling them at $149 in 5 days?
Then drop the price in early 2010, after the worldwide launch is complete and everyone who was happy to pay $250 got their PSP Go.
Crazy, I know.
Jorrel56 @ Jun 13th 2009 10:43PM
True but I think they are flirting with disaster on this one. The last thing they need is to not turn a profit on another gaming device. Instead this time because it is too much more than it costs to manufacture. Trying to clean up the mess they've made with PS3 profit with the PSP Go is not the right approach.
Cubivore @ Jun 13th 2009 11:13PM
Justin your "Niko" sounded like a delicious blend of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog and Borat and it gave me the lolz. Thank you.
The Dark Wayne @ Jun 14th 2009 12:48AM
i enjoyed luddy's impression me of. NO I DIDNT, IM NOT NICE AT ALL!
Saria the Cat @ Jun 16th 2009 4:00AM
That's exactly what I was thinking when I heard that! *sigh* The Joystiq podcast is just too precious. :)
pqrszyx @ Jun 14th 2009 11:36PM
You now officially have a Zune review http://digg.com/u15j4J
AceNorton @ Jun 16th 2009 2:42AM
What was the name of that Trion/Treon couch coop game you mentioned with the 3 classes? I can't find it anywhere but wanted to find out more about it.
Courtney @ Jun 19th 2009 7:30PM
As a resident of Kansas, I have to say I don't appreciate the comment that our small towns are hooker factories. We produce a wide variety of social degenerates and just singling out one does us no justice.
